I had such a nice, chill day at Jamie's At The Blue Reef! If you're looking for a spot to just relax and enjoy the ocean, this is definitely it. I loved the beach loungers, they were so comfortable and made it easy to just hang out all afternoon. The whole environment is super laid-back and exactly the "vacation vibe" I was looking for. I was also really happy with the prices. The drinks are very reasonably priced, especially for being right on the water, and the mix of Seafood and Mexican food was great. Feels like a place where you feel 'special' because you are in the know. Jaime's at the Blue Reef is a restaurant the offers an AYCE food/drink experience on the beach at Costa Maya for $61 for a day pass per person (if you contact the business directly). It also includes free rental of canoe or paddleboard (which we did not take advantage of). They only have a certain number of slots per day, though on our day, there were plenty of spots still open. My brother and I spent a half day experiencing their hospitality on a port day from the Harmony of the Seas, and it was great, exceeding my expectations. My brother was able to book directly with them days before. Once off the boat, we took a taxi from the cruise port for $5 a person. It was .about a 10 minute ride, going through very bumpy and potholed roads. We got dropped off in a rural area, and it's definitely an island vibe in the area. Blue reef is the hotel which the taxi driver knew and routed towards. Once we checked in at the hotel, we got the choice of shaded loungers closer to the water or a bit further back (good to bring a rented towel from the boat). The beach in back of the hotel has palm trees to provide shade, and the water is extremely shallow, protected by a man-made barrier . It's a public beach, so a lot of vendors initially asking for purchases, but after enough 'no, thanks', they left us alone (though new ones popped up during our stay). It wasn't so busy, so our waiter/beach attendant came by pretty often to check on us. The first order of business was to get the wi-fi password, and the wi-fi worked well throughout our 4 hour stay, letting me catch up a bit. Of course, we started with drinks, so off the focused menu, got two mojitos. They were surprisingly good...served in cheap plastic mile glass, but had plenty of fresh muddled mint...tasted really good and I probably had too much. Also towards the end of our stay, got a mango margarita (served frozen, but done so a bit melted, preventing a brain freeze) and a tequila sunrise. Both were well made, with a decent amount of alcohol. As for food, we ordered a lot off the menu and everything was decent to very good, especially since it was served to you beachside in small portions. The corn tortillas were fresh, home style, thick and greasy: perfect for the various dishes that we ate with them. Nachos had choice of chicken and beef, and both proteins were excellent: good flavor, cooked over a flame. It also used nacho cheese, and a good mix of diced onion and cilantro. The quesadilla used good flour tortillas, intentionally cut into very small squares for sharing, and used the same good meats. I had to try their shrimp ceviche, and definitely better than i expected, with good mexican white shrimp and a good mix of lime juice and tomato/onion to bring out the flavor. Recommendation is to keep ordering every time the server comes back, until one is satisfied. The friendly service was excellent, with Roberto (main server) and Chucho being the two servers with Ale being the bartender, who made the excellent drinks. One can definitely get much food and drinks as wanted in the shade, and with the constant excellent weather, a really great way to spend the day if coming in for the day on a cruise. read more

Wow....... From booking communication to service on the beach this place is amazing!!! We had 3 people waiting on us with smiles on their faces and ready to serve!! The margaritas were flowing and the food was excellent!! My sisters loved the mojitos!! I cannot say enough good things about this place. The cab fare from the port was only $4 per person. Gabby and Anna had a massage place set up and for $50 I got an hour full body amazing massage!! It was the perfect amount of pressure (she asked in I wanted more or less) but it was perfect!! We stopped in at Jaime's during our Port stop on our cruise for some beach time. What a great decision. The staff (Digby and Chucho) were friendly, quick to meet our needs, and brought us the best blended strawberry mojitos made by the bartender Ale. The food was some of the best we had too on our stops- we shared chips and salsa, guacamole, shrimp tempura tacos, shrimp ceviche, and chicken quesadillas. All the food was excellent- flavorful and served quickly! Drinks didn't remain empty long either :) The loungers were great, feet from the beautiful protected ocean- offering great views, calm waters to swim, paddle board or kayak in, and enjoy the view. They even offered massages on the beach for a great deal! read more

On New Year's Day, we stopped in from our cruise and spent the day at Jamie's on the beach! When we arrived, they had our spots saved with our names on them and started taking care of us right away! Chucho was our waiter, and he was so sweet and kind! We even got a very affordable, relaxing massage right on the beach! I didn't see that advertised, so I was very pleased when they had that set up! I really enjoyed the communication between me and the manager who helped us book our reservation. The directions on how to get there were very clear, and it was a short trip from port to our spot! The food was delicious and fresh, and the beers were wonderful! I will definitely be coming back to spend more time at Jamie's the next time I make it over there! Caught a cab here from the cruise port, it was $4 per person. We had a reservation and the area was waiting for us. A table with chairs and loungers was waiting. The service was excellent, the food was excellent. We had fish tacos, chicken quesadillas, fish ceviche, steak nachos. It was all fresh and homemade. We lounged, ate, drank and had a good time. There are vendors who walk the beach but they are very nice and not pushy. We met cruisers from other ships. It was fun and relaxing.definitely booking on our next cruise. If you don't know about Jamie's at the Blue Reef than I feel sorry for you! These are the fish tacos our family craves when we come to Mexico. Lightly breaded fishes on a pico di gallo bed with corn soft tortillas. Ask for the habanero sauce you won't be sorry. A chilled tequila on ice with a lime is a great addition too. Jamie is a staple here. He's friendly and personable. We look forward to seeing him every time we are here. Juan and Digsby are fantastic staff that only enhance the experience too. read more

Service was really good, from the welcome we received from the very nice lady who took a quick look at the reservations for the day and knew my wife's name before she ever met her, to the quick and pleasant servers who made sure we always had a fresh drink and any food we wanted. The location is outstanding. A cheap, short ride to get to from our cruise port. It is a small beach club with less than 30 guests per day. Ideal if you're looking to relax and just enjoy some peaceful serenity at a beautiful beach with crystal clear water right in front of your beach chair. Our six year old made friends with other kids quickly and loved it here, making sand castles and playing in the ocean. We especially loved the delicious fish tacos and fries. Close to the water, roped off swim area for the kids. Water was clear, fish in the swimming area. Easy access to swim farther out and snorkel independently. How did I forget to review this place for so long!? During my trip to Costa Maya, I stumbled upon this bar/inn. I tagged along with an older couple who swore by this place. They are a bit pricy, but all of their food was very tasty and fresh! I got a non frozen Pina Colada. It was the best Pina that I've ever had! The juice used in the mix was amazingly fresh! They also know how to make their drinks strong here! The guacamole I got was fresh and delicious too! Just needed a bit of salt and pepper though. The shrimp taco I had here was delicious too! Very fresh and tasty! Costa Maya is pretty touristy, but this little bar knows how to manage local flavor and keep it fresh! I highly recommend people visit this place during a Costa Maya trip! read more

After a lot of research, we decided to go to Jamie's for the day (we were there on a cruise) and couldn't be happier with our decision. The drinks, food and staff were wonderful. We reserved ahead of time and had 4 chairs under shade waiting for us when we arrived and were greeted by staff ready to take our first order. We were able to use a couple kayaks they had as well. Sand is really soft and the water at the beach is shallow and calm. We took a walk along the street right at the beach and were so thankful we were at where we were as just down the beach it was so much more crowded and loud, didn't look relaxing at all. The food we ordered at Jamie's was great, highly recommend the chicken tacos and guac and chips. When it was time to go, the staff called us a taxi and walked us over to where to go. Taxis were $5pp each way from the cruise port. Kudos to Chucho, Digby, Robert, Alex and Rodrigo! We will definitely back if we stop at Costa Maya again on a cruise. read more

Absolutely the best place in this area. Very attentive to your every need. All inclusive, drinks, food, water shade and sun. Jamie hangs out with you and visits. The girls, all of them, especially Diggby, were there for your very need. We had a massage on the beach and it was wonderful! Food was so,so good. Homemade including the Habanero salsa. Good but .. First the very good . For $50 you get unlimited food and drink both of which were excellent served by a caring attentive staff . Basic beach food done well plus excellent ceviche . It was a short taxi ride from the cruise port . The less good was that we were expecting an all inclusive beach club . Mahahual is a crowded little strip filled with all you can stand vendors , beach massages and tacky bars . Jaime's is right in the middle of this . Their change rooms were their dirty washrooms . Finally their menu was limited . I had to push to get fresh fruit and no desserts were offered . How tough is it to have , flan or ice cream or cookies ? I'm giving it a 4 stars as 3.5 is not an option. read more

We were on a cruise and the Blue Reef was our best experience. He only allows 35 people at a time, we had a spot under a palm tree and it was beautiful and relaxing. For about 50 bucks a person it's all you can eat and drink, snorkels, and kayaks. There is a gorgeous reef about 150 yards from the beach, the water was calm and clear. The owners 1st class and really on top of things. The ceviche was amazing. Very fresh. The drinks were normal. The beef burrito was fresh and delicious. The guacamole was the best I ever had.
