This is a big place with lots of lounge chairs, great beach,, with food and drink and amazing service. You also have a long string of shops that you can buy souvenirs. There are people walking along the beach, trying to sell jewelry and other things but it's not a bother. This is a very poor area so when you go, please be generous to the locals.

This is a good place to come for the day when in Costa Maya. It's an easy taxi ride ($5 a person each way). They have no minimum purchase, but you should buy something if you are going to use their facilities. They have a nice little beach, beach chairs, kayaks, bathrooms, and showers to use. We weren't super hungry since we had a big buffet breakfast on the cruise ship before heading over here. They have $10 buckets of beer. And you get a free little welcome drink. We got chips and salsa, chips and guacamole, and calamari. The flavors were good, but were a little pricey for the quantity you get. There is a lot to do in the area. Oh and you can get an hour massage for $25.

This popular beachside restaurant near Costa Maya is a favorite of cruise ship tourists when they dock nearby. It is located about 2.5 miles from the pier and requires a 10 minute taxi ride. Taxi prices are negotiable. I paid $5 to get there and $10 to get back. From the table I could see my ship across the harbor about 2 miles away. All of the seating here is outdoor on sand with thick straw canopies over each table that completely block the sun and are just feet away from the water. For lunch I ordered the Shrimp Any Style for $14. Mine came with a garlic butter sauce on the grilled shrimp with rice and salad. The shrimp were butterflied with their shells still on. Corn tortillas (not homemade) were also provided. Beers here were only $2 each. Buckets of 5 beers are only $7 but those bottles are smaller. Taste wise I thought my meal was average tasting and wish the shrimp had been de-shelled. Table service was leisurely because no one is in a hurry here. The location is nice and offers a relaxing view of the water. The prices at The Krazy Lobster are reasonable but the most popular seafood served is the lobster, of course, which is more expensive.

This place was close to the shopping area. This was a great place to lounge near the beach. They have hammocks, kid's playground, restrooms and showers close by. It was recommend not to go the water. The beach water looked pretty gross! Their shrimp ceviche and seafood platter was pretty tasty. The people working here were very attentive and nice. Definitely would recommend coming again.

Really great place if you are visiting by cruise ship. Get a taxi from the cruise ship straight here. I had the shrimp ceviche and it was spectacular. Make sure to come with your bathing suit. Luis was a great host! Such a beautiful experience with oceanfront dining.

Still the best place in Costa Maya for ice cold beers, fabulous Mexican food from tacos to fresh lobster. The food is outstanding! Service is spectacular, and it's right on the water so you couldn't have an ice cold beer and then a dip in the ocean. Nothing is better than sitting under the Palapas and looking at the cruise ship ships.

Just visited again on my cruise this week. Update cabs are now $5 each way. Food prices are still good. One thing I will warn you about is if you order shots make sure you ask what brand and cost... We ordered 4 shots, and mis understood and ordered the "good stuff" we got really tall shots I'd say double (so 4 shots but more like 8 since tall shot glasses and it took two times for me to drink the shot) and they were really good....but $60 We found out when we went to pay bill... But we had a great time and didn't really care...

Great Day ! When in Costa Maya. We enjoy buckets of $7.00 beer small ones but they stay cold. Good food nice clean beach. $5.00 taxi ride from port.

Perfect spot to eat, drink, shop and lounge near the beach. We rented golf carts to get around to make our lives easier. The food is pretty good and prices aren't bad at all. Everything comes out fairly quickly considering how busy they are.

Rocks were covered most likely due to Hurricane Melissa. Not in the area but preparation is everything.

My wife was a little hesitant but ran into another couple who was headed there and we joined in the taxi ride over. Taxi can be picked up inside the port parking lot. $5/person for the ride. Little sketchy at the drop off but they have people at the Krazy Lobster waiting to greet you at the taxi and walk you in to their beach area so you will not be harassed. They seat you at the table and let you know when you are ready to leave they escort you right to a taxi. Lay back little area with a safe place to swim if you like. Plenty of table with tiki umbrellas to chill under and drink beer or cocktails. My wife got an hour long massage for $25 which she said was fantastic. I sat around with a $10 bucket of pony bottle beers. 12oz bottles were just a little more. Had some garlic shrimp dish with some guacamole. Both good and will definitely stop by here again in the future. Plenty of shops in the area along the beach with a bunch of local selling their goods coming to you. Haggle away on the price or let them know you are good and they walk away. Very enjoyable day to chill out.

Awesome place which doesn't break your bank if you are looking to stay when you are in costa maya. We had 6 hours of port time in our cruise. Bit of a walk to get out of port to get to taxi. 4$ per person taxi the location. Cab driver flagged the Krazy lobster guy and that guy walked us to the table. We asked for a better area with beach access and we were moved there. Ordered Nachos, Mango Margarita, Lime Margarita and cheese quesadilla for kids. Nachos were very cheesey, margarita's were very good! Kids loved the Quesadilla. Kids loved playing in the sand and the water. They took pics with bearded dragon Ordered nachos for second time and also coconut shrimp and one order of Michelada. Coconut shrimp were really good. Michelada was great as well. Started to get cloudy and we asked for the taxi. They got us a taxi to the port. Overall a great experience and enjoyed the time. It gets busy and bit overwhelming with vendors but definitely recommend trying this place

Port of Costa Maya & The Krazy Lobster - Mahahual, Q.R., Mexico (Visited October 1, 2025) Getting out of the Costa Maya port can be a bit of a maze. You'll wind your way through rows of shops before finally reaching the taxi stand -- the signage isn't the clearest until you get closer, but staff will help direct you. At the taxi area, we were guided to position two where vans were filling up with others headed the same way. At the time of our visit, the taxi ride was $5 per person each way (about 10 minutes). I've heard of some being charged more, but that wasn't our experience. Tip: Don't make our mistake by getting dropped at the lighthouse. It looks close, but it's still about a 1/2-¾ mile walk to The Krazy Lobster. On the upside, we got a nice photo by the big Mahahual sign before making the trek. Upon arrival at The Krazy Lobster, we were warmly greeted by the host, seated right by the water, and quickly introduced to our attentive waiters. Service was excellent throughout our stay. We started with beef nachos ($12) and fresh guacamole ($6) -- both very good and generously portioned. For our main course, we each ordered the Garlic & Butter Lobster ($25 each). The lobster was tasty, though slightly overcooked in my opinion (which can happen easily with lobster), but overall still enjoyable. I've included photos of the menu with current prices as of 10/01/2025, along with a couple of other photos from along the way. The beach directly in front of The Krazy Lobster wasn't swimmable during our visit due to seaweed. Since we wanted some time in the water, we returned to the port area, where there's a large pool with a bar and loungers. The pool itself is free to use, but if you want a chair you'll need to purchase about $19 worth of food or drinks per chair. It was well worth it -- the atmosphere was fun, refreshing, and a nice way to end the day. Overall: * The taxi ride is cheap and easy once you find the stand. * The Krazy Lobster is a lively, casual beach spot with great service, solid food, and reasonable prices. * Be prepared for possible seaweed, and have a backup plan like the port pool. We really enjoyed the trek and would highly recommend making the trip from the port to Mahahual. Even with a couple of detours, it was a great experience!

Food We ordered the platter for 4ppl, they should have an option for 8. I needed up ordering extra. Prices were ok, drinks seemed to have minimal alcohol. The beef is by far the best hands down. My family liked the lobster. The $7 beer bucket was cool, but note the Coronas are Coronitas. Service was great, the staff was hustling ti make sure we were happy and taken care of. Ambiance Krazy lobster advertises to buy food and you get exclusive access to their beach, tables, and kayak area. Food and drink is not inclusive. There are quite a bit of locals coming through to sell you whatever. I suggest being patient, they're just attempting to make money. Only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the kayak person lecturing my 15 yo order to give him a tip. I didn't like that, he was talking to her about it instead of me.

I loved the beach loungers, they were so comfortable and made it easy to just hang out all afternoon. The whole environment is super laid-back and exactly the "vacation vibe" I was looking for. I was also really happy with the prices. The drinks are very reasonably priced, especially for being right on the water, and the mix of Seafood and Mexican food was great. It's the perfect no-stress spot to grab a bite and a cold drink while soaking up the sun.

It also includes free rental of canoe or paddleboard (which we did not take advantage of). They only have a certain number of slots per day, though on our day, there were plenty of spots still open. My brother and I spent a half day experiencing their hospitality on a port day from the Harmony of the Seas, and it was great, exceeding my expectations. My brother was able to book directly with them days before. Once off the boat, we took a taxi from the cruise port for $5 a person. It was .about a 10 minute ride, going through very bumpy and potholed roads. We got dropped off in a rural area, and it's definitely an island vibe in the area. Blue reef is the hotel which the taxi driver knew and routed towards. Once we checked in at the hotel, we got the choice of shaded loungers closer to the water or a bit further back (good to bring a rented towel from the boat). The beach in back of the hotel has palm trees to provide shade, and the water is extremely shallow, protected by a man-made barrier . It's a public beach, so a lot of vendors initially asking for purchases, but after enough 'no, thanks', they left us alone (though new ones popped up during our stay). It wasn't so busy, so our waiter/beach attendant came by pretty often to check on us. The first order of business was to get the wi-fi password, and the wi-fi worked well throughout our 4 hour stay, letting me catch up a bit. Of course, we started with drinks, so off the focused menu, got two mojitos. They were surprisingly good...served in cheap plastic mile glass, but had plenty of fresh muddled mint...tasted really good and I probably had too much. Also towards the end of our stay, got a mango margarita (served frozen, but done so a bit melted, preventing a brain freeze) and a tequila sunrise. Both were well made, with a decent amount of alcohol. As for food, we ordered a lot off the menu and everything was decent to very good, especially since it was served to you beachside in small portions. The corn tortillas were fresh, home style, thick and greasy: perfect for the various dishes that we ate with them. Nachos had choice of chicken and beef, and both proteins were excellent: good flavor, cooked over a flame. It also used nacho cheese, and a good mix of diced onion and cilantro. The quesadilla used good flour tortillas, intentionally cut into very small squares for sharing, and used the same good meats. I had to try their shrimp ceviche, and definitely better than i expected, with good mexican white shrimp and a good mix of lime juice and tomato/onion to bring out the flavor. Recommendation is to keep ordering every time the server comes back, until one is satisfied. The friendly service was excellent, with Roberto (main server) and Chucho being the two servers with Ale being the bartender, who made the excellent drinks. One can definitely get much food and drinks as wanted in the shade, and with the constant excellent weather, a really great way to spend the day if coming in for the day on a cruise.
