Jana was my top choice for shooting my wedding next fall in Dana point, but she completely let me down when I got in touch with her. We agreed to meet in person and morning of, she cancels due to an 'emergency' with one of her other clients. Ok, fine. We try to reschedule for the next few days but she says she'll be out of town and then says "I get it if you want to go in a different direction"... so you don't care about my business? She offers no other times she's avail so yeah, she doesn't care. Best part of all is that she shares everything via IG and she wasn't actually out of town at all! Careful what you share on social media ;) Not sure what her deal is but completely unprofessional and unacceptable. We certainly will be "going a different direction", thanks! read more

It took me 5 years to write this review, and I've chosen to do so now because I'm still impacted by the loss of a portion of our wedding photos. We hired Jana because we were impressed with Jana's photography as documented on her website and social media accounts. We were excited to receive our wedding photos, but as it turns out, Jana lost all of wedding table photos - the only photos we had with all our wedding guests were digitally corrupted. The result: We now do not have any record of all of the people who attended our wedding. Her contract states: "While every reasonable effort will be made to create and delivery quality photographs of the events, the entire liability of JWP to Client for any claim, loss, injury or damage arising or relating to this Agreement or performance hereunder of any JWP photographer, including the negligence of JWP, is limited to a refund to Client of the amount received by JWP in connection with the event." Jana offered to give us a photo shoot to make up for this loss. I asked for a monetary refund for a portion of what we paid her (not a full refund - a partial refund, leaving the amount up to her). There is no place in her contract that she is not liable for loss of photos. After following up with her multiple times, she said that our lawyers should talk. I understand that she may have just been trying to protect herself, but this action seemed premature and aggressive. I am unsure if she did this because she suspects her contact does not cover her, and hopes that I do not have the funds or time to pursue this further if she resisted. I am still hoping that we can resolve this matter in a way that makes us feel better about our wedding photography and the service that she provided. read more

I would give Jana 6 stars if I could! Don't be put off by her number of stars, look at her filtered reviews as well because you DO NOT want to miss out on hiring her. Who are these people giving her 1 star?!? I seriously do NOT understand because I am so ridiculously happy with my engagement pictures and her impeccable service I can't even fathom a one-star review! If a 12 year old can take pictures like Jana, then that kid is a prodigy and the next Annie Liebovitz! First off, Jana is freakin talented. Go to her blog or her FB account to see examples of her photography. Gorgeous work! My fiance and I are not comfortable in front of a camera but she made us look amazing...he looks like a model and I look like I dropped 10 pounds! Just incredibly romantic and beautiful. I'm getting compliments left and right about our pictures, but all the credit goes to Jana! Secondly, she is so dedicated to her work. She is not a photographer just for the money, she truly loves photography and treats it as an art. At our engagement shoot, she stayed 2 hours OVER the scheduled time just because we were on a roll and she thought the light was too perfect to miss out on. C'mon...what photographer does that and doesn't charge an extra dime?! She even brought props herself to enhance our shoot. And threw in a video of our engagement shoot just because she's awesome! Plus she's so great with responding quickly...many brides out there know that oftentimes once you sign a vendor, they turn MIA as soon as they have your check...not Jana! Always responsive, always on the ball. Lastly, she is just the sweetest person you'll ever meet. Anyone would LOVE working with this girl...a bride's dream photographer! I can not wait for her to photograph our wedding! The only negative thing I can say about her is that she's so good at making me look my best and thinnest, its making me lose my motivation to get in shape for the wedding! read more

Jana shot our wedding a week ago, and we just got the photos back (quick turnaround was much appreciated). We are happy to say that we LOVE them! Jana and her team were incredibly professional, upbeat, energetic, and a dream to work with on the day of the wedding (not to mention the day of the engagement photos a few months back). Jana made us feel really comfortable, which was important especially to me (the bride) because I am usually totally stiff and awkward in front of a camera. But I look happy and effortless in all the photos, which is amazing and quite a feat. Finally, Jana is a sweetheart! She got along great with my family while she was hanging out at the house photographing me getting ready, and everyone felt at ease with her. She also has an enthusiasm that I found to be contagious--she got so excited about how beautiful everything/everyone looked on the day of the wedding, and it made me feel even more enthused and happy and helped me to focus on the beautiful details of the day rather than worry and be nervous. Jana is the most incredible and talented photographer. We hired Jana for our engagement session and wedding day. They say it's so important to hire someone you feel a connection with since you pretty much spend the majority of the day with your photographer. Jana's personality is just amazing. She is so relaxed and easy going but very professional. She really knows how to loosen you up and create natural moments. We never had to fake a smile once our whole session. She really makes you feel comfortable so that you feel like youre just hanging out with friends, which is so important. Then when you get your pictures back you get these gorgeous pictures of real moments. We hired Jana to shoot our wedding and engagement photos for our wedding in June 2015 based on her amazing wedding wire reviews and after stalking her blog. We couldn't have asked for a better photographer! She, and her assistant Vivian, were on time, easy to get ahold of, gave great directions (we aren't models!), and took the MOST BEAUTIFUL photos we've ever seen! Jana ruined our photos. The majority were unusable with heads cut off. The rest were out of focus or with the subject almost entirely out of frame. She blamed it on an equipment issue when confronted about it...an equipment issue she never brought up while shooting or when she reviewed her own work.
