While exploring the outlet, I walked into few stores but didn't find anything worth buying. The sales tax rate was also very high 12%. The food court was little sad. There were few different shops but most were abysmal. The dining hall was also underwhelming with old chair and tables. Overall I wasn't very impressed with the experience, and was one of the least exciting outlet mall I had visited.

There was even a Sanrio store at one point, that had planko, which felt like a little slice of joy every time I walked in. It really was the mall of my time growing up. Some of my favorite memories include visiting Santa during the holidays, catching movies with friends and family, and just spending afternoons wandering around when going to the mall was a real treat, not just an errand. Not to mention using the photobooth before "selfies" were a thing. They even had a bounce house and play area which was so much fun as a child. It's definitely bittersweet seeing it close. While it's not quite what it once was, it still holds so many good memories for so many people. A solid four stars for everything it was at its peak and for the nostalgia it leaves behind. An end of an era, but one worth remembering.

They were happily riding the escalator, and I was taking a simple video of them on my phone. To my surprise, a security guard stopped me and told me that videotaping was not permitted. At first I didn't even realize she was speaking to me because she was mumbling from a distance. When I continued recording my children, she approached again and more firmly told me that no videotaping was allowed. What made the experience so frustrating is that the mall is literally days away from closing. The building was largely empty, my children were simply riding the escalator, and I was recording family memories--not conducting a commercial photo shoot or disrupting anyone. Meanwhile, there have been photographers and members of the media documenting the mall's final days. The whole interaction felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. Instead of leaving with fond memories of one last visit to MacArthur Center, I left feeling scolded for recording my own children in an almost-empty mall that will no longer exist in a matter of days. Consumer habits may have changed over the years, but experiences like this certainly don't encourage people to return. It was a disappointing way to end what should have been a nostalgic final visit.

You can walk to one of the remaining restaurants and enjoy the beauty of the lit, tree'd streets with lights hung over the street. It almost felt like Christmas except with white lights and the humid heat of summer. Lights shine from the urban apartments in the buildings where one can live and walk to just about anything. The Plaza is a wonderful focal point. The vision of a planned Uptown, miles from the lights and glitter of the oceanfront, was a wonderful one. Upscale shopping, restaurants, housing and theaters abound. Grocery shopping is now available in the form of Trader Joe's, which occupies a space in the same area of Regal Cinemas. Town Center is a vision that became reality and continues to grow throughout the years.

Our most favorite time of the year is during Summer Fest at Town Center Fountain Plaza. We love the…read morelive music and variety of bands that perform Friday - Sunday nights from 5 - 9 PM. This is a free concert that brings out all ages. The shade of the trees and lights in the plaza make the events a fun and festive opportunity to enjoy the warmer evenings at no cost. We always make a point to enjoy a nice meal at a neighboring restaurant and then set up chairs to get a great view of the band and everyone dancing to the music.

There are more shops but those are the ones I frequent the most. Since Nordstrom sadly departed MacArthur a few years ago this is the only Nordstrom you'll find on this side of the water. It's not the same as the three-story beauty in Norfolk but it'll do - even if it's only their discount arm. I love the shoe section there. Best deals in town. This is an updated shopping center with plenty of easy parking and some dining (Smokey Bones anyone - nah, I'll pass) as well.

They have athletic and dressier items. The company roots are in athletic clothing. The products are approximately 90% women, 10% men. So I'm out on the skimmer category. But really any age can enjoy their clothing. They are pricey, make no mistake. A single legging for ladies runs in the $100 neighborhood. For men the same with pants. They do have a sales rack to check. It's often slim pickings. Service 100% always 5 star. The staff is trained well and will bend over backwards to be helpful to customers. Also always super friendly and attentive. I have to admit they are trained to sell too! So you may be browsing and make a purchase. The store is always 100% 5 star clean and organized. The staff has very tight control over the the tidiness of the floor, changing area and checkout. Products and quality always 100% 5 star.
