I used to love having a Nordstrom when it was in MacArthur Mall. Thankfully we have Nordstrom Rack which I find to be my go to store when looking for a dress, in particular! Undoubtedly I always find other clothing items as well. I feel that it is not as overwhelming for me to shop at versus a store like TJMaxx. Love NR but not super happy to have such long lines at the register and tons of floor people. Let me clarify-it is the holidays and it's nice to see people out shopping on a Thursday afternoon!! Store was FULL of shoppers. And seemed to have plenty of staff! But only had two -then finally added a third cashier. All while there were literally groups of staff on the floor and behind the counter. People were leaving the line (that had DOZENS) because they were waiting SOO LONG! And, there were groups of employees gathered within sight of this very long line that was snaking through the store. Just thought Mgt would want to know -it wasn't a good scene!! Enough parking available within the plaza, no need to pay. The store itself was well identified and very clean. I feel like Ive seen better selection of purses at different locations, their home section was too small for me. Their beauty aisle was definitely worth my time (face and skin products) but the nail polish options is not what im used to. I had to look for it to find it on a column and it was just 3 colors and not the brand i was looking for. The staff was cool and made sure to let me know where some of the cool items were so I can keep buying. read more

Incredibly rude cashier, Donna, I believe, as she was not wearing a name tag. She accused me of wearing a pair of shoes (with price tags on!!!) that I was returning. I had thought the shoes would match a dress I was to wear New Year's Eve. They did not. I had tried them on, along with a dozen pairs in the store. I did not even put them on at home! This is the second time this same associate has been extremely offensive to me. I am a decades long customer as Nordstroms has legendary customer service. It is the best store in this area considering their variety of brands shoes deals. I would also stop for the sunglasses section, I found strong deals in some brands as Rayban, Salvatore Ferragamo, Prada, etc than any other store. I'm a very loyal Nordstrom customer. I'm even and Icon member which means I spend over $20,000 per year. Tori at this location wouldn't allow me to return a Chanel eyebrow pencil since it was designer. She didn't even ask about who the customer was or think about loyalty. Now I have to ship one little item to returns which will get lost per usual and then I have to open a case to find a missing return. I think Tori should at least greet the customers and offer some sort of loyalty. read more

I've now been to this store five times and have never shopped a Nordstrom Rack before. I self admit I love Nordstrom at McArthur Center and shop them often. The location is great in Town Center at Pembroke Mall. A draw back is that it's not connected to the interior of the mall. It does not appear it's hurt business because I frequent the area and it's busy all the time. On each occasion there was a different reason to shop them. The first week to see the store and did not make a purchase. Initial impressions were weak, but I held off on writing a review. The second and third this week a stronger impression of service, inventory and pricing. It's not a huge store, but even haters should be happy we have one as many cities would love. Even a great experience with a return which is also done at the checkout counter. Is it a glorified Marshall's, or TJ Maxx? You be the judge of that. In my opinion it's a cut above with designer wear you cannot find at most discount retailers. My daughter is now convinced this will be her regular place after finding her Vera Bradley back pack for school and difficult to locate Zella Girl clothing 70% off. Even my son found True Religion jeans that were normal $120, marked off 60%. The store has presented well on each visit. Yesterday it was somewhat cluttered in the kids clothing with last second shoppers prior to the start of school. None of the visits had a staff member approach to assist. I'm thinking this level of service will be challenged when mobbed. I will return and find myself a fan. Will I buy something on each visit, probably not. However, the deals are good enough to keep a watchful eye for the right thing that you must have. 3.5, rounding up. read more

The new store openings in the Independence / Pembroke Mall / Town Center area had been greatly anticipated. It was a huge disappointment when all three opened when I was completely immobile. My only trips out of the house during that time period were doctor visits. Sigh..... So Saturday was my first visit to Nordstrom's Rack. Actually it was my first department store shopping experience since my fall. I was in search of "white" to wear to the upcoming Yelp Elite event. May I say that I was expecting much better from Nordstrom's, even if the merchandise offered were their discounted offerings? The general feel of the store was that of a chain discounter. Couldn't Nordstrom's have provided the store with a slightly more upscale decor? The racks of clothing were not organized well and had not recently been checked to replace items placed in the wrong size segment. I found it hard to locate the type of clothing that prompted my search. It seemed as if items had been randomly placed on racks just to get them quickly on the sale floor. So, what was the result of my search? There was absolutely no appropriate white. But I did find a cute top for a great price. It's time to bring this shopping trip to an end. Now where do I find the check out desks? Oh, No!! Along the side of the store was a row of cash registers with a rope line. And oh how I hate standing in a rope line to wait for checkout!! Not you, Nordstrom's. Please. It isn't fitting of your brand. The top was cute and was perfect to wear to the fun Sunday brunch planned. So I waited in line, and waited, and waited. Propping on the cane and holding the rope pole stands didn't help much. Almost ready to give up, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was a lady from an display case enclosed department who offered to check me out in her area. Thank you to that angel for her wonderful customer service. So, why 3 stars? One is for the location. A store in the Town Center corridor is much appreciated. The second is for the Nordstrom's brand. The third is for the pricing. When I have more stamina I will return. It's obvious that finding good deals involves a search process. And my check out angel told me that new merchandise comes in every day. Thank you for coming to Bayside Nordstrom's Rack. I like Nordstrom Rack though I had not been to this one. I've visited a few on my travels and found some good items - today was no different. Pembroke has really been revitalized in the last 5 years or so - with new stores, new restaurants and plenty of cool new things like the Fresh Market and REI. Nordstrom Rack is nothing like the actual Nordstrom so if that is what you're expecting - you'll be upset. Think more TJ Maxx with discount items from last season. You can find some really good stuff in here - name brand items like Northface, BCBG, Nike, etc. They sell accessories, make-up, perfume, home decor, seasonal items, clothing, shoes, coats, etc. I came in specifically to find a puffy down winter coat/jacket for a trip to Germany in a week with my mom. I wanted something light, but warm, and packable that I can take with me. I've been looking at a few $250-350 jackets from REI and Northface and I was pretty pleased with the two I found here for $70 and $80! I also found a gorgeous wool/cashmere scarf! I'm ready to go with my great finds! I'll remember Nordstrom Rack next time I need to find something and have searched everywhere else. I'm thrilled with my finds! read more

My wife made it mandatory that we stop in on the Grand Opening today, over 500 people lined up outside waiting to get in. I'm not sure the Sears next door gets that many folks in a week.! Nordstrom offers a lot more items than I initially thought. With the title "Rack", I had assumed it was only a shoe store version of a Nordstrom. But long story short, they have everything. Shoes, Clothing, accessories, perfume, beauty supplies, women's clothing, men's, kids sizes all the way up to 3X and larger sizes. Another big surprise: Affordable prices and many discount items as well! Long story short, check them out. Great quality brand-name items at great prices. Do you love designer & brand names? Do you love saving money? Well, Nordstrom Rack is the perfect place for you; it's a combination of both! The store's grand opening was on 3/10/2016 and I wasn't brave enough to try that day, but I did go the next day. Parking lot was packed, place was packed, but boy was it worth it. I got something for $200 off the original price that it was at the main Nordstrom flagship store! I like to think of Nordstrom Rack as an upscale version of TJ Maxx, Ross, or Marshall's. Same concept - designer brands at way more affordable prices. You'll see tons of Michael Kors (sunglasses, handbags, accessories), and the same for Kate Spade, Coach, even marc by marc jacobs (my current favorite.) Like any big store, there's a section for shoes, men, women, kids, babies, accessories, home, & gifts. Tons of selection in each department. The set-up works, and even though it's a busy grand-opening time, the line was ridiculously long but moved along quickly and efficiently. Parking is ok - very busy & crowded but again because it's new; I know that once the "newness" of it dies down, everything will be fine. It's in the old main front part of Sears at Pembroke mall, facing VB Blvd. They have divided the old big Sears building into Nordstrom Rack, Fresh Market, & a smaller Sears. I would shop at the actual Nordstrom more if I made more money but alas I will settle for Nordstrom rack. This location is probably less than two months old and it's located in the Pembroke shopping plaza, right next to Fresh Market. The selection here is..... sporadic. You can either score really good deals or not find anything and leave empty handed. My gf has been able to find some nice brand name shoes for a pretty decent price and I have walked away with some Ben Sherman and Nike stuff but not as steep of a discount as I would like.. lol. I know their inventory changes weekly so come by and see what your next find might be. The employees are pretty easy to find and there are available on the floor for any inquiries. The bathrooms here are also really nice and clean. I didn't know this but Nordstrom rack actually has their own online inventory/site which I thought was pretty cool. The security guards here are a little intimidating, as they are almost always at the entrance with their arms folded watching all customers come and go with eagle eyes. read more

Welcome to Nordstrom Rack now open at Pembroke Mall located on the corners by Sears. When you enter in the story you will notice a bright and vibrant decor with immediately in front of you the women's Department with the jewelry to the right hand in the far right-hand corner is the men's section zooming over to the left you'll find Men's Formal Wear followed by men shoes and as well as women shoes followed by fragrances and accessories for women. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices as they were pretty close to that of local competitive retailers such as Marshalls and Ross. They do have a great selection of clothes with Brands including Vans, Cole Haan, penguin, Tommy Hilfiger , just to name a few... They do have a great fitting room which when you enter the area you do not need to let them know how many pieces of clothing they will greet you and then walking towards the area. Please be aware that this is a coed fitting room so both women and men in addition to families will be located and their. I did find it slightly interesting that when you close a door there is still a crack that you can still see outside. Not that I am extremely bothered by that but some may find it slightly uncomfortable. They do have a great selection and variety of shoes which has a large option pool to pick from and particularly for men shoes which I was highly in favor since most stores that I go to do not have a large selection in regards to men's clothing and also shoes. I did find it a bit difficult as the store was closing that there was a staff holding a pole that red line starts here as the line was building up as they were getting ready to go and people were making their final purchases making their way up towards the cash register. At that time it was a little bit difficult because a couple Dead Walk in front of me and jumped the line and I did confront them about it rather than not saying anything at all of course they did offer for me to stand in front of them if I wanted to since I made the complaint but what sense would it make because then they would be cutting the people that are in front as I pointed to them that the line was way back there and there is actually a flagpole. I did notice that the man and the couple was just browsing and the section next to the line and the woman just happened to pop somewhere out of nowhere when I was checking the items in my cart. I will give the cashier credit because they did take interest in to the reason why I was rather annoyed and listened and was pretty friendly. The cashier needs to pay a little bit more attention as first he almost skipped an item from being run up and then in the second half he actually run up another item twice. I corrected him as we we counted all the items just to make sure everything was correct before making the purchase although there was a little small gaffe and the purchase itself it did make up for his friendliness. The lady who was at the line to then direct you where to go to the next register just seemed slightly immune to the reason why I was annoyed and gave a fake I'm sorry. I was really impressed by the great selection of clothes and I'm interested to see what other options that they will have in the near future Please be aware that the store has just opened this week so it will be very crowded so please make sure to know that when you go in there there will be a large crowd of people as you are shopping so be careful as you are looking at items for prices and make sure that you are paying attention to who is sitting in front of you no line, no line jumping. read more

At first I was really excited about Nordstrom Rack coming to the area but after a year or so of random visits, I just feel like it's okay. IMO it's just an upgraded version of TJMaxx/Marshall's with slightly more "expensive" brands like Theory, Vince Camuto, etc. All in all, if you do some digging, you'll find some nice items but for the most part, it's not going to be a super deal. The men's department is actually kind of small, and forget about finding anything in almost non-existent housewares dept. The shoe selection here is awesome though and that's where I like to spend my time when visiting NR. I will say the service here is not great. Standing in the check out line for 20+ minutes is the norm even if there are only 2-4 people ahead of you. The cashiers take FOREVER.. I've even had a cashier stop and have a convo with a coworker in the middle of my transaction. So, there's that. Otherwise, parking is a big shared lot on the side of Pembroke Mall near DSW and I've never had an issue with it being too packed. read more

It's like a mixture of THE very best discount department stores, without having to be weary from digging through the chaos, irregularities and out-of-season clothing we are used to at the many Marshalls and TJMaxx(es)? in the area. My only problem with this Nordstrom Rack was the teeny tiny home decor department. It consists of three displays and it is almost all the Nordstrom Rack brand. A couple sheets, towels, and some other miscellaneous forgettables. (Oh yeah, a Lauren Conrad book.) So if you're coming to shop at Nordstrom Rack, it should be primarily for apparel and shoes. I'm a fan even though I rarely shop here. Honestly, I wish I could shop here more. I guarantee if you come in here and leisurely stroll around you will covet much more than you need. You will find all kinds of high-end brands here from all over, all levels. Plenty of the brands your favorite celebrities wear even the brands made famous by Dutchess Kate on a grocery trip. The prices are discounted, sometimes steeply discounted. Even so, they can still ring up pretty pricey. They have a nice, vigilant security guard at the front. Every staff member that I have encountered has been both friendly and helpful. There are plenty of dressing rooms. You'll find everything from handbags to housewares here, Shoes. Jewelry. Makeup and skincare. Workout gear. I used my birthday reward to get a waterbottle. Take your time to peruse around and you just may find a gem. Good Luck! We came of the evening of Black Friday and the store looked ran through lol but the sales associates were trying their best to keep the store presentable. Unfortunately what I came looking for I didn't find, they had a nice selection of Uggs but they didn't have my size in any boot that I liked. However, the staff was willing to search the stock for every boot I was interested in and were extremely patient with me. The entire staff of sales associates I came in direct contact with were super nice, professional and respectful. A-1 customer service. Visited the store today, since everyone I know ( well some ppl) talked about it and where exited for this store to come to the area. I do like Nordstrom, but I was not impress by this store. Their prices seem comparable to TJ max. I didn't think they had great deals, I actually would prefer to go to MK, BCBG outlets. And could prob find something there at same price, they have A lot!! Of shoes, prices where ok. Again nothing amazing, I looked at workout clothes, for some reason I always buy workout clothes, and I could def find better prices at tj max, same brands. If you have tiny feet like me, Nordstrom Rack is a godsend! They have a fairly sized selection of women's size 4 and 4.5 shoes (which is normally hard to come by). The first time I went here I was so overwhelmed by the selection that I had five pairs of shoes picked out. I left the store with three, but that's besides the point... Other than the smaller-sized shoes, Nordstrom Rack isn't much different than other department stores. They sell a lot of name brand clothing and accessories at discounted prices, but I don't think the discount is enough to call it affordable and cheap. This place is packed with great quality brands in shoes, clothes, purses, accessories, lingerie, hats, etc. Their discounted prices overshine the original prices. They have designated areas for women's clothing: casual wear, juniors/misses, athletic wear, mens clothing, shoes, jewelry area, lingerie, purses, and accessories. Just had a bad experience with security guard. Grabbed cart to shop and noticed handle wipes were empty. Took off lid to see if it was just pushed down and asked guard by door where else I could find wipes. I am undergoing treatment for cancer so have to wipe down. He said they are out of wipes. So I flipped lid upside down to let management know the dispenser was out. Guard shook his head and said "thank you for putting the lid back on" in a nasty tone, and flipped and closed the lid on the empty container as though I was in the wrong. I'm sorry, no one else bothered to notify management they were out so his snotty remark wasn't appreciated. He offered to go to the back to get some at this point but he was so rude, I opted to leave. read more

Stopped by here on opening day, in the evening. It seemed to running pretty smoothly with a heap of employees running around. I guess the prices were reasonable, though don't expect drastic sale prices. I was dissappointed in the plus section, which has historically been dismal at the MarArthur store. I hoped there might be a better selection, not really. Just a couple racks of shirts in addition to the standard fare. I ended up with a tee and a dress. But, I don't plan on going back there for some time. I don't think the stock will turn over much. Also, despite loss prevention physically at the door, I had to point out that I had set the alarm off and for them to check my bag. I don't want to have to take one of those ink things home! The sales person forgot. Parking is kinda meh, since the facade appears as if there are multiple door, but only one that's in/out. I do most of my shopping online for this store because the deals are always good. Unfortunately I missed the extra 40 percent off of clearance sale last week so I decided to come in and see what events they were having this week. If you are signed up for the rewards program you get 3000 points back for your purchase but I'm unsure of what the rewards are. Anyway the sale that's been going on this week are for cosmetics and if you're into makeup you're not going to want to miss this event. They have Urban Decay, M*A*C and Laura Mercier just to name a few and they're all discounted. They also have a few drugstore brands like NYX but I didn't have time to price match so I'm not sure if there's a bargain to be had or not. My next favorite spot is the shoe dept., the brands are ridiculous and the majority of the prices are reasonable especially on clearance. I also appreciate the cleanliness and organization but most importantly that people aren't walking around annoyingly asking me if I need help every two seconds(exaggerating) lol but you get my drift. Really love this location! Such a great addition to the town center area of Virginia Beach! I came in here to do some Christmas shopping hoping to find a cute Tory Burch wallet and just as soon as I walked in, bam! I found a wristlet originally for $575 marked down to $120. Such a great deal! This location is very organized and the store is kept clean despite how busy it gets- especially on the weekends and during the holiday shopping season. I found a beautiful pair of Kendra Scott earrings for $30, originally $75 and a matching necklace for $35, originally $90. The deals here are endless and they have so many great gifts on display at the front of the store to grab and go. The sales associates are super friendly and helpful that they make the shopping experience even more enjoyable. I love this location! read more
