Such a rude person working the cash register. Can't hear anything from behind their plexiglass wall. When I told her I can't hear anything she slammed a receipt against the plexiglass. Not a great experience. Maybe they would do better with a speaker system for their customers or something else to provide a better customer experience. In our ongoing and seemingly neverending quest to find great Chinese take-out options in South SLCo, we held our breath and boarded the Janbo train. The food was relatively inexpensive; the menu offers the standard Chimerican options; the staffer who took my take-out phone order was bustling but still somewhat friendly, and provided clear and concise pick-up info. My order was ready and waiting when I showed up on time to pick it up. For all of this, I am giving them a whole star. The food, unfortunately, was just not up to snuff. It wasn't even up to sniff. Usually, it's the drive home, with the aroma of the hot tasty Chinese food wafting about the car, when I begin to prognosticate about the carnage ahead; all manner of Asian goodies hopping down my gullet like Lemmings, after a masterful mastication to make known their lusty flavors...it's kind of a big deal. On the drive home from Janbo, there were no wafting aromas. No spicy emanations. Nothing to increase the anticipation. I even pulled off an impressive anti-farmer-blow to be sure. Nothing - sad. In a concerted effort to stay positive, though, I chalked it up to inpenetrable packaging, and stepped on the gas. Turns out, packaging wasn't inpenetrable after all. Sufficient, mind you. The problem was, the good smells just weren't there. For real. They offered a coupon for a free appetizer, so we chose the 8-piece Cream Cheese wontons. Sadly, the free wontons were the best part of the meal. It's pretty tough to screw up cream cheese wontons. They were yummy, with good sweet-&-sour, and did I mention...free? Otherwise, we tried the Ham Fried Rice (thank you for at least not putting carrots in it), Schezuan Trio extra spicy (shrimp, chicken, beef), and Chicken in Garlic Sauce extra spicy. In an unexpected twist of irony, they got the spice levels right. The taste, however, left a lot.................................................... Sorry, I dozed off for a minute. What can I say about this food, except that when I asked Hubby how he would describe it in one word, he closed his eyes and fake-snored. They tout their MSG-free cooking on their website. I love this place. Ever since we moved to the Sandy/Draper area, we've only ever ordered from these guys. Every time I call, they remember me. They know how I like my food, their service is excellent, and they deliver _fast_. The food is wonderful. I have zero complaints. I especially love the fried fish they include in the combo dinners! I've never been inside their restaurant, so can't comment on that...but I have and will continue to order from them! read more

A great little Chinese Restaurant, good quality, cheap prices, fast service. I go here all the time for the $6.50 lunch and $9.50 dinner specials. Quick take out. Decent quality but nothing to write home about. I would probably get it again if I was in a pinch. It's hard to find shrimp with lobster sauce in this area, and they have it on the menu. I wish the consistency was less dense though. read more

Definitely had Chinese-American food in generous portions, but this is not Chinese food in the authentic, Mainland tradition, especially the chow mein. Pros: generous portions for price; more entree than rice; flavorful; white meat chicken, good heat on spicy dishes, like Szechuan beef Cons: not authentic Chinese, chow mein made with deep fried "Chung King"-style noodles (not Mainland nor Hong Kong-style noodles), chow mein is sub gum style with too much corn starch sauce; dishes served with a fried rice that is soaked in soy sauce. Didn't try the lo mein... won't be back though. read more

Ordered take out on one of our last nights w/ my in laws from here. Of course I had to depend solely on my YELP sources since Utah + Chinese food is usually a FAIL - but I can't really say how the food tasted while it was fresh since we waited almost 2 hours before we sat down to eat so by then everything is either soggy or not as good. Truth be told it wasn't bad. I ordered the Won Ton Soup, Mongolian Beef, General Tso's Chicken w/ sides of Ham Fried Rice, Veggie Chow Mein w/ Crispy Noodle & Egg Rolls. Ham fried rice was meh - kind of tasty but didn't care too much for it, General Tso's was yummy - I love that it had a kick to it but would have preferred it fresh since the meat tends to get hard if you wait with dishes like this that use dark, veggie chow mein was different - it came in a thick clear sauce with veggies with the crispy noodles on the side - wasn't a miss but definitely different - still tasty though - & the egg rolls were ok. Heard from my sis in law & hubby that the won ton soup was tasty as well as the Mongolian beef but didn't try either of them. I'll have to order from here again to update my review but for now minus 2 stars. read more

Wow. We loved this food! We came to Draper looking to eat at Fongs and they have closed down for good. So we looked around and happened upon this place and I am so glad we did!! We got their lunch specials with drinks and it was under 18 bucks! The orange chicken was incredible. Very light breading and the sauce was the best I've had in a long time. This is a very no nonsense place. The food was served in to go packages and there's nothing fancy about the decor, but the food was off the charts yummy! We'll be back!!!!! read more

Long standing customer (10 years) and one delivery order not corrected loses me! I ordered my usual order for delivery 2 "dinner combinations" and an order of eggrolls. Delivery came and I got 2 entrees not combinations. When I called (immediately) and spoke with the manager/owner I got arguments, then chastised and told what was "repeated back" to me (my selection of entree, which is the only thing specifying the difference in each combination) is just what I ordered. Just had take out tonight! Not the first time. Reasonably priced, quick with my order and the food was, as always, delicious! My husband claimed he wasn't hungry until I brought home their curry chicken and he dug right in. Staff is friendly. I was looking to try a new Asian food place, and this was near by. I ordered the orange chicken lunch special with rice and an egg roll. The food wasn't that bad, I was just underwhelmed by it. The egg roll was decent, the fried rice dry and just tasted ok, and the chicken seemed lower quality and was mostly breading. I think they may have mixed up my order because it think I received sweet and sour chicken instead. The interior was a little cramped (I wouldn't stay and eat unless I had to) and dull. Well, back up to four stars due to an excellent take-out dinner last night. The wife had her favorite Happy Family, my son his Sesame Chicken, and we all shared the House Special Fried Rice. But I had the House Special Wonton Soup, and it was excellent. A true dàzáhuì (smorgasbord) of wrapped meat soft wontons, huge chunks of chicken, beef, and at least four large prawns, all in an excellent broth with numerous Chinese vegetables. Just outstanding soup. So maybe, as my wife said, it DOES depends on who is cooking that night, but regardless, it was a great dinner for three of us, with leftovers (and we got a free order of cream cheese filled wontons since our order was over $17.00)...out the door for $42.00. I went here at the demand of a close friend and was not disappointed. I am from California so I am pretty picky when it comes to Asian food and especially Chinese lunch specials but I thought this place did it well. I have been here a number of times for lunch and usually get either the Broccoli& Beef, Mongolian Beef or Chicken with mixed vvegetables. All have been yummy and full of flavor. I usually get a side of steamed rice and the hot&sour soup. I love hot&sour soup and this place does such a good job with it!! I highly recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for Chinese food. The location and ambience level are next to nothing but the food and prices make up for it. read more

I love Chinese food and am always trying to find what I consider to be good Chinese food in the salt lake valley. Today I tried the general tso at janbo in Draper. The flavor of the chicken is decent, slightly sweet and spicy. The dish just does not have the complexity or range of flavor that I am looking for. The chicken also lacked the crispy texture that I expect when taking in the fried chicken calories. I have certainly had worse Chinese food, but I would not say this is good either. read more

Janbo has always been a favorite of mine.Their food is really good and they can usually make it in a good amount of time. I call in and it's usually done in 10 minutes or so. The last few times I have been there though, they have gotten my order wrong. Pretty upsetting but the food was still good. read more

I have tried Fong's Fine Chinese dining a few times, but nothing compares to the taste and service of Janbo. Their delivery is quick, and they always get the order right. The portions on the meals are huge. If you dine-in with one of their one person specials, expect a lot of food. I prefer their orange chicken of their sweet and sour pork. The fried rice and chow mien are also good choices. I have only gotten food from here once that I didn't like. I believe that it was the General Tao's chicken. Occasionally if I am picking up, there will be a delay in getting the food. Not sure why this is. Delivery is usually quick. read more

I am very disappointed in this place. The food is sometimes okay but most of their dishes are very poor. The General Tso Chicken is pretty good but the sweet & sour chicken or pork are nothing better than Panda Express. The Orange Chicken is less quality than Panda. The Kung Pow Chicken is gross and so is the garlic chicken. The rice is super dry all the time. I have ordered from them many times and have been disappointed in everything except the General Tso Chicken. I recently ordered for multiple people in the office. This was 3 separate orders. 1 cash(4 meals), 1 card (1 meal), 1 card (1 meal). They told me that they can only do 1 credit card per call. even if they are separate orders. He told me I can hang up the phone and call back for the other orders! What?? I will never order from them again. read more

Janbo Express is amazing! It's one of the better restaurants in the Draper area. From the outside, the place looks like a dive and really, it kind of is. But the food is wonderful. You get quite a bit of yummyness for the price. My favorite is their char shu lo mein - it is some of the best lo mein I have had! Their crab rangoon is amazing. Their egg foo yung and sweet and sour chicken leave a little something to be desired, but they make up for it with their delicious ham fried rice. All in all, Janbo is a great place to eat if you're in the mood for some Chinese goodness. Enjoy! read more

We only order from Janbo and have done so for many years. I learned about them when I lived much closer. I recently moved further away and I was happy to find that Janbo still delivered to my area. I usually order Szechuan shrimp and the hot and sour soup. My kids have all moved away from the delivery area and call me when they are sick and ask me to get them some hot and sour soup and take it to them because they do not feel good. Last night we ordered General Tso's chicken and Beef and Broccoli. The food was awesome, hot and delivered quickly. I tip very well because I want their delivery drivers to know that I enjoy the food and expect them to provide a great service. I have not been disappointed. The orange chicken is perfect and moist, I've had dry orange chicken and it is not fun. The sweet and sour pork is great, with generous chopped chunks of pork. Even the fortune cookies are sweeter than others. Haven't had a dish I could complain about. They are fast, and delivery is free. The prices are competitive, and the portions are generous. I highly recommend a dinner combo. You get 2 cream cheese wontons, and 2 shrimp with your entree + rice. If you are a small portion eater, it can easily feed two. Enjoy! read more

Janbo express has great food, and has been a favorite restaurant for many years. We had to move from the area, and during that time away my wife got a service dog for her epilepsy. We decided to go get janbo for a dinner date the other day, and as we went to order, we were asked if we wanted take out. We said no, we wanted to eat at the restaurant, to which we were asked to leave. We tried to explain that our fully vested dog was a service dog, but we were told that he wasn't allowed in the restaurant. Even though I love the food, I will never eat here again for the kind of prejudice that was shown that day. read more
