'Writing this in hopes that the owners see it and make drastic changes. We've ordered takeout from here many times in the past. It's been pretty good although we've noticed a decline in quality in the last year or so. Two good things: the quantities were generous and the plastic reuseable containers are appreciated. That's where the positives end. Honey walnut shrimp was previously frozen and reheated. The walnuts were rancid and inedible. Orange chicken was also heated up from frozen. Beef lo mein-- beef was tough. Fried rice was ok, hard to mess that up. Have you ever eaten food that made you shudder just to think about? This was THAT food. We threw away $45 worth of food because neither of us could bear the thought of trying it again. ZERO stars. If it were possible to do ZERO stars, that's what Janbo Express deserved. read more

This was our first time coming here. We were looking for something to eat since the kids were crabby and just not feeling great. We walked in and the lady immediately welcomed us. We ordered our food and she came out with a little plate filled with cookies and candies for the little ones. The wonton soup was the best I've ever had. My kids devoured the ham fried rice. Our family loves Janbos. Their cream cheese wontons are my favorite. They have a coupon on their website that gives you a free order of 8 cream cheese wontons if you spend $18. I like ordering their lunch combinations (which ends at 3:30 pm each day). They give you great portions, and we always end up with leftovers. Right now with Covid-19 quarantines they are letting you do take out still. Janbos has the best set-up that I've seen. They have the restaurant entrance enclosed with plexiglass and a bin that is covered that they put your food into that slides out to you. Everything seemed very sterile and safe. Several friends have suggested Janbo Express to us. I know that we ordered from here before, but we could not remember what our experience was like, so it was good to try it again. I called in my order after reviewing the menu on the internet. The young lady who answered the phone was very friendly and took my order. They have a really good dinner combination deal. I ordered General Tso's which comes with ham fried rice, two fried shrimp and two cream cheese wontons. It came to just over ten bucks. I thought it was a good value. They gave me a ten minute time frame. Sure enough I arrived at almost exactly ten minutes from when I called and it was there waiting for me. The young lady again was very kind and bubbly. I was in and out of their door in less than a minute. The restaurant was very clean. Not a lot of seating; it is more of a takeout / delivery type of place. I arrived home and got right down to business. The cream cheese wontons were perfect. I feel about cream cheese the same as I feel about bacon. You can serve either on a shingle and I would eat it. The fried shrimp were large, but they had a weird chemical taste to them. The ham fried rice was decent, but not the best I have ever had. They gave me a good volume of General Tso's, I couldn't finish it all. The General's was good, but not really General's, it was closer to Orange Chicken. Not very spicy and had a light colored sauce, not the dark caramel color most General Tso's has. I was worried that it was going to be mostly breading, but thankfully it was good ratio of meat to breading. When I come back again, I will definitely go with something else. The Chicken Chow Mein looked really good; I wish I would have ordered it. Basically, this is good place to get a nice amount of food for a reasonable price. I will try it again for sure. read more

Usually love this place ! Went at 4 pm and they stopped serving lunch portions . When we asked the lady up front for a lunch portion she said nope nope we don't do that . I've been coming here for years now and have never been told no to a lunch portion size at any time . If restaurant can provide a simple portion request any longer I'm not sure they would be a good choice for catering at the work place any-longer . Way sad ! This place certainly merits in terms of friendliness of staff, but I really can't give it more than a 2 overall. The flavor just wasn't there. Their version of egg drop soup tasted like basic chicken noodle soup, with peas, carrots, and some noodles mixed in. I was 'told' that it wasn't specifically called "egg-drop soup", but I didn't know it meant the flavors were completely different. I got chicken with Broccoli, and it was just... completely bland. During this time period (COVID) it is pick-up only. We were so impressed with the set up for pickup - very clean - customers don't need to touch anything. And customers are sealed off from the rest of the restaurant- pickup is right inside the door. Plexiglass area. We ordered 2 dinners and upgraded from rice to lo mein which cost $3 extra. The lo mein was dry spaghetti noodles with very little flavoring to them and that's it. I'm a regular, twice a week for lunch. Haven't found a better sweet n sour soup in Utah and I've tried alot of them. Janbo has a great mix into their soup. My usual lunch special I get for $7.50 is their general chicken, steamed rice and hot n sour soup. I worked near Janbo Express and first had their food when my boss ordered in Chinese. That was all it took. The food is delicious and prices unbeatable, and generous portions -- they even deliver if you live or work in the area. You can eat in, but there's not a lot of room. If you want really good, affordable Chinese take-out, Janbo is the place. They even know what your favorite orders are and make patronizing the restaurant a cinch. Now that I don't live near Draper, I'm sad that I can't experience their food more often. read more

Strip mall Chinese food? It can't be that good right? This is hands down the best take out Chinese food in Utah. The food is delicious, hot, and you get a ton of it. All of their sauces have a lot of flavor, and you can tell they use white meat chicken. The food is just top quality. In our ongoing and seemingly neverending quest to find great Chinese take-out options in South SLCo, we held our breath and boarded the Janbo train. The food was relatively inexpensive; the menu offers the standard Chimerican options; the staffer who took my take-out phone order was bustling but still somewhat friendly, and provided clear and concise pick-up info. My order was ready and waiting when I showed up on time to pick it up. For all of this, I am giving them a whole star. The food, unfortunately, was just not up to snuff. It wasn't even up to sniff. Usually, it's the drive home, with the aroma of the hot tasty Chinese food wafting about the car, when I begin to prognosticate about the carnage ahead; all manner of Asian goodies hopping down my gullet like Lemmings, after a masterful mastication to make known their lusty flavors...it's kind of a big deal. On the drive home from Janbo, there were no wafting aromas. No spicy emanations. Nothing to increase the anticipation. I even pulled off an impressive anti-farmer-blow to be sure. Nothing - sad. In a concerted effort to stay positive, though, I chalked it up to inpenetrable packaging, and stepped on the gas. Turns out, packaging wasn't inpenetrable after all. Sufficient, mind you. The problem was, the good smells just weren't there. For real. They offered a coupon for a free appetizer, so we chose the 8-piece Cream Cheese wontons. Sadly, the free wontons were the best part of the meal. It's pretty tough to screw up cream cheese wontons. They were yummy, with good sweet-&-sour, and did I mention...free? Otherwise, we tried the Ham Fried Rice (thank you for at least not putting carrots in it), Schezuan Trio extra spicy (shrimp, chicken, beef), and Chicken in Garlic Sauce extra spicy. In an unexpected twist of irony, they got the spice levels right. The taste, however, left a lot.................................................... Sorry, I dozed off for a minute. What can I say about this food, except that when I asked Hubby how he would describe it in one word, he closed his eyes and fake-snored. They tout their MSG-free cooking on their website.
