My father's ophthalmologist was in Hyannis. He spoke highly of the doctor so I called his office and asked for an appointment to get an eye exam. The doctor was not taking any new patients, because he was retiring. He told me to see Dr. Bodrie in Sagamore, closer to where I was staying. Dr. Bodrie is great. I have gone to him for several years and have only the best to say about him. My eyes have had some concerns, not every day problems. He has diagnosed the issues I have had over the years and we got them fixed. Today, my sight is fine, and in so many ways it is due to Dr. Bodrie.

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Bodrie's for years. My experience with him is always…read morewonderful and he has seen me through my transition from occasional glasses wearing to full time contact lenses. He is always diligent in answering any questions you may have and making sure all of your concerns are addressed before moving forward. Scheduling is generally pretty easy and he is hardly ever running behind so wait time is minimal. While my experience with the Dr. has been extremely pleasant, I struggle to say the same for the interactions with his office staff. Each time I call or visit the office, I always leave feeling argumentative and defensive after conversing with the office. I called prior to an appointment explaining I was 10 minutes behind schedule as a meeting with a client ran late. I was rudely informed that "young people have no respect for anyone" and that I was rude to waste her time and keep her waiting. I was prepared to reschedule my appointment if needed, and was attempting to politely explain an unavoidable issue and was offended she would say I was wasting HER time. It was the Dr's schedule I had inconvenienced! When my dog chewed the arm of my new frames, I visited the office to see about sending them out for repair. I was rudely told that I should keep my dog away from my glasses and that they couldn't be repaired, I would have to purchase new ones. End of discussion. I looked up the manufacturer online, sent them out, and they repaired them at no charge aside from shipping and handling. Lastly, I ordered a new pair of frames online and called to verify my prescription. I was told that I didn't need to get it over the phone, and it would be sent to me because I would need a paper prescription anyway before I could order. False. I confirmed I did not need the prescript, could just enter online - and she laughed as she read it off to me. She said it was a waste of her time as it wasn't going to process. Weird. Wearing the new frames as we speak. While I love the doctor, I find his office support to be exhausting. There is no need for the misery around simple office procedure. Get it together, ladies.

Holly, at the front desk, was super friendly and helpful. She did a great job of making me feel comfortable and welcome -- explaining everything as we went. Dr. Waterbury was also very kind, knowledgeable, and funny. I've had glasses since I was in kindergarten...and am 30 now (so you can imagine the amount of doctors I've visited). Dr. Waterbury is the most thorough (and youngest, ha!) eye doctor I've been to -- he gave his professional opinions and had legitimate reasons backing them up...all the while cracking jokes in between. She did examine them on each visit. It took her two years to finally perform biopsies. One of the pores was identified as having basal cancer cells. Then I was sent to Dr. Reedy, the Mohs specialist who re did the biopsies. This time she decided to cut wide and deep providing a permanent and deep scar on my nose. I went off Cape to one of the best dermatologists in the Boston area. I ended up needing a skin graft because the basal cells where so deep and I was told they had been there a long time.

Having moved to the area recently, I reached out to this office, as it was located within LensCrafters, a custom I'm familiar with off-Cape. Since it was my primary visit with this practice, they took close a look at my retina and macula with an advanced Nikon mapping device, which avoided the need for eye dilation drops. They now have a history they can refer to during my next visit. The Dr. was patient with the process of optimizing my prescription. Although I haven't received my new glasses yet, I have confidence the prescription will be a welcome fine-tuning for these next few years. I would return to and recommend Dr. McQueen's practice for a very thorough exam and prescription.

Initially I went to him a few years ago because I needed a new glasses prescription and his office was convenient at the time. I continue to visit him because I like the very thorough exam I receive from his friendly technician and him, the up-to-date equipment in his office (no dilated eyes!) including a magic laser exam that shows everything going on in your eyes! His office is located within the Lenscrafters at the euphemistically named "Festival Mall" right on Iyannough Road in Hyannis. You won't see the (strip) Mall from the street, and the office is at the entrance next to the Pier One, so plenty of close parking most days. What keeps me from giving 5-stars is the check in procedure, where the staff person recited my name, phone and full address loudly enough for another waiting patient to sit up and take notice, only to greet me by name when I sat down to wait. I would expect that while HIPPA rules may not apply to an eye exam, simple common sense would, and the staff could minimize the privacy invasion. Otherwise, pretty simple and polite check in and out. I'll be back.

This practice has been an incredibly frustrating experience and is the complete opposite of a…read more"Better Way." One of many large concerns is that Shannon doesn't listen to patients. Despite promoting a holistic approach, my appointments felt no different than a typical rushed doctor's visit. For example, I explained that I already follow a low-glycemic diet, and she handed me a basic low-glycemic diet sheet and suggested I try it, as if she hadn't heard anything I said. The office management is even more concerning. Getting prescriptions often requires multiple phone calls, and referrals are handled very poorly. A few years ago, they called expressing concern that my son might have an autoimmune disease affecting his kidneys. It then took an entire year for Russ to successfully send a referral to a nephrologist. Communication is consistently disorganized. Last year, they called me while I was driving to my son's annual appointment to tell me he was overdue even though we were literally on our way to the appointment. The final straw happened today. We had an appointment scheduled for this morning and last night I realized that we had not received a reminder text. I tried calling them a bunch of times and messaging but they don't have an answering service. My son and I drove 80 minutes for our 10:30 am appointments only to find the office completely closed. The sign on the door clearly states they are open on Fridays from 10 to 1 but no one was there. There was no notice, no answering service, and no way to reach anyone. To make matters worse, when your child is diagnosed with something like an infection, don't expect prescriptions to be sent promptly. In our experience, they often weren't sent until the end of the day, delaying treatment unnecessarily. Unfortunately, after multiple years of disorganization, poor communication, and lack of follow-through, I cannot recommend this practice. Update: Office manager is texting me ON A SUNDAY after already giving me a hard time all afternoon Friday about calling a few times on Friday checking to see if they had opened their phone lines. Apparently they are so inconvenienced that they had a few missed calls when I was the one who wasted 3 hours of my day because they never informed me that my appointment was cancelled. They need to be shut down. Response to their response: Proof of how he has no idea what he's talking about in the photos. I didn't call all afternoon after my appointment. I didn't call all day Sunday. He was texting me Friday and Sunday even though he's claiming it was Saturday. He's claiming I called after hours the night before my appointment. I called at 3:47. They close at 4. I mean I hate putting effort into this at this point but it's ridiculous to have your character questioned over something so dumb. I'm not sure why they would think everyone knows how their phone system works. I had no idea they were going to get a bunch of missed calls to cell phones. I was simply calling hoping that their phones had opened up so I could see if my appointment was still on before dragging two kids to the cape. Apparently I'm entitled for wanting to check on that. And yes it's a long review because we have had a terrible experience at their practice and so has everyone I know. They're crazy thinking I would receive any benefit from lying about this. Just beware. Night before my appointment 7/9- Called at 3:47 - they should have been open. Didn't leave a voicemail because it said they were closed but I got a text response and it said to text a message so I did. I called one other time a little while later to see if anyone answered. Day of my appointment 7/10 I did call a bunch of times between 8:30 and 10:15 hoping their phones would be on. I had no idea it went to cell phones. Figured it went to an office phone they wouldn't hear so I just kept calling to check. Called once at 3:22 to see if their message said their hours like Russ was claiming. It did not. When I called today to request records I do notice that they changed it. Sunday 7/12 - my husband called once.
