I've never had any indications for eye disease, so I've always felt comfortable having an optometrist provide my vision care exams. Having moved to the area recently, I reached out to this office, as it was located within LensCrafters, a custom I'm familiar with off-Cape. Since it was my primary visit with this practice, they took close a look at my retina and macula with an advanced Nikon mapping device, which avoided the need for eye dilation drops. They now have a history they can refer to during my next visit. The Dr. was patient with the process of optimizing my prescription. Although I haven't received my new glasses yet, I have confidence the prescription will be a welcome fine-tuning for these next few years. I would return to and recommend Dr. McQueen's practice for a very thorough exam and prescription. read more

I like Dr McQueen, enough to travel well out of my way to return to his office. I've been to see him three or four times for my eye exams and have always been pleased with the results. Initially I went to him a few years ago because I needed a new glasses prescription and his office was convenient at the time. I continue to visit him because I like the very thorough exam I receive from his friendly technician and him, the up-to-date equipment in his office (no dilated eyes!) including a magic laser exam that shows everything going on in your eyes! His office is located within the Lenscrafters at the euphemistically named "Festival Mall" right on Iyannough Road in Hyannis. You won't see the (strip) Mall from the street, and the office is at the entrance next to the Pier One, so plenty of close parking most days. What keeps me from giving 5-stars is the check in procedure, where the staff person recited my name, phone and full address loudly enough for another waiting patient to sit up and take notice, only to greet me by name when I sat down to wait. I would expect that while HIPPA rules may not apply to an eye exam, simple common sense would, and the staff could minimize the privacy invasion. Otherwise, pretty simple and polite check in and out. I was in dire need of contact lenses. Ordered them and waited over a week. I asked if they woulD graciously spare a few anD would even pay for them to hold me over. I was told I i would havE to "wait" and wear plastics. Unbelievable. Overpriced and terrible customer service. Was trying to give a local store business and not order online. Won't be doing that anymore. I would advise ordering and going to a place with better customer service. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Dr. McQueen and more recently we see his daughter Dr. Caitlin McQueen Ferrier. The girls up front can be a little short at times, but I think the Drs and the service make up for it. They use a great machine that photographs your retina at each anual visit and were able to identify a small hole in one of my retinae, so I could go get it fixed. It's cutting edge and pretty cool stuff. I've never been dissatisfied with the rest of the eye exams and getting set up for glasses and contacts, though I do typically take the rxs and buy online since it's a little cheaper that way. Still, very satisfied and sad to see these negative reviews ruin their rating. read more

Front desk receptionist was finding my child's contacts, which we'd been called to pick up, when another patient came out from the exam rooms. The receptionist said "I'm going to help her first" and put me on hold. Finding the contacts is a one minute job. She proceeded to check this woman out, who asked multiple questions, and the receptionist then went to get a pamphlet to answer her questions. So, I understand the woman was in the building before me, but technically, since she was rummaging through bins looking for the contacts, I was first, not this other customer. Never have I been booted out of line and forced to wait--helping me was a one minute thing tops, while checking this woman out was extended. I left, and in the car explained to my husband what was going on. He went in, where the receptionist was still helping this woman, and she lied to him and said this woman was first! He said we wouldn't be back, and she told him "good." Is this what you like for customer service McQueen? She had glasses and this was a Sunday afternoon--please train your reception better. She was rude, and you don't stop helping someone because someone else seems more important. LensCrafters has lost my business as well--I'll order contacts elsewhere. read more

Front desk receptionist with blonde hair was super rude, snarky and unprofessional. They charged $200 for an eye exam, and charged my boyfriend an EXTRA $100 just to help him put his contacts in to which he tried refusing multiple times. The only good thing I can say is the doctor was professional, kind, and helpful. I'd go back if it was just her, but her staff and the prices make it a no thank you from me. read more

I have been going to the office of Dr. McQueen now for 3 years. It's about an hour away from where I live, but I always get an appointment when it's convenient for ME and I am in and out in less than an hour without feeling like I'm being rushed - my exams are very thorough. When I am purchasing contacts or glasses, I am always given the best possible prices I can get with my insurance and/or any other promotions going on at the time and explained what I am getting as a benefit of my insurance. The only (for lack of a better word) "complaint" I have is the limited glass frame selection. However, this will not keep me away. read more

I had nothing but trouble from start to finish. Was charged for eye glass prescription, which I did not need or want and charged for contact lens prescription, which I did not get because the one they gave me was wrong, I returned several times to request my old prescription be renewed as that one worked very well for me. A negative star would be sufficient! I would indisputably inform anyone NOT to go to this eye doctor's office whereas years before I had! Most of the staff, including Dr. McQueen, were unbelievably rude during this visit!!!!! Not only were they discourteous but they gave no explanation as to how they calculate charges for a contact fitting. I was told during a phone conversation the cost for an out of pocket contact fitting ranged between $50- $90. When I arrived on the day of my appointment I was told $50-$100. At that point, I informed the secretary I wouldn't have that part of the exam if it was anything different than what I paid in the past. She reassured me it would not be more than $60. When I checked out with this same individual, the charge for the fitting was $80!!! I asked her for clarification on why the contact fitting price was $80 and not $60 that she reassured me it would be just moments before leaving the waiting area. I explained that absolutely nothing during the appointment was done differently! I was told condescendingly by her, "Prices go up every year" and "It is whatever the doctor wrote down as the billing code for that charge". I explained to her that I did not know what the doctor wrote down nor what different service he was now charging for compared to previous years! She wasn't able nor wanted to explain the reason for the discrepancies just kept offering vague justifications instead of a solid explanation or proof! It's very odd that no one seems to be able to give details on how they calculated the $80 charge in addition to becoming very irritated when questioned about it for an explanation. A customer has every right to question what they are being billed for and what the service was!!! I called the insurance company and since this service was out of pocket, that portion of Dr. McQueen's billing codes only reflect their internal billing system. It did not match the insurance company's codes nor eye health's codes. Inevitably, it just leaves me with vagueness to them having any accountability of their billing integrity or customer service rapport. read more

Great Dr., if you can get to him! I had great service from this office for 2 exams and while buying contacts. I broke my glasses and needed a new pair pronto. Called and was told they couldn't send my prescription due to it being 2 days expired for the year. I asked for an appointment as soon as possible, and was told it would be close to 2 weeks until they could see me. I asked to speak with the Dr. to tell him that I was a bit desperate as I need glasses to do anything but sleep. After 5 minutes on hold, a very unpleasant office manager picked up and immediately said that the Dr. never extends prescriptions, even by a day, so there was no reason to speak with him. I asked to speak with him anyway, and was told he wasn't in that day. I asked to leave him a message to call me when he was in as I'd like to speak with him as his patient, at which time the manager hung-up on me. Have fun with her good Dr! read more

What a great office! I have been coming here for years and always had wonderful experience--this time, though, I wanted to try to get contacts in time for my wedding in less than a week. I have had a lifetime phobia of anything near my eyes because of a childhood injury. Dr. McQueen and his staff patiently and kindly helped me to overcome this fear and to get contacts for the first time in 30 years of wearing glasses. I just had an eye examine by David McQueen and was very pleased with the quality of service. I had no difficult making an appointment convenient to my schedule. The staff were all very pleasant and I was seen immediately upon arrival which was earlier than my actual appointment. The examination equipment seemed very up to date with technology. We sold our home in West Barnstable 7 years ago and found new dentists and doctors. We were so satisfied with Dr. McQueen that we retained him as our eye doctor and always schedule our yearly check ups when we spend every summer on the Cape. Would highly recommend this practice. read more

Wow! What a professional business. I just stopped by to see about getting an eye exam for insurance reasons and they were so accommodating. Took me in right away. The doctor's staff was very friendly and welcoming. The doctor was super also. Then decided to look for glasses and Cathy, the manager of the store portion was very helpful in picking out some driving glasses. The process was simple and painless. I called to make an appointment for an eye exam. I was told when making my Appt that they accept my insurance. I arrive on time, check in and am brought through a preliminary exam. Then I am told I am not in-network and need to call my insurance company. This is bad service. I took a day off work and drove 40 minutes to have a vision exam. If I would have known that my coverage wasn't verified, I could have checked this prior to wasting a morning. Very disappointing. Also walk-in appts were taking 2-3 hours to be taken. read more

I was searching for a doctor to examine my eyes and Dr. McQueen was recommended. I was able to schedule an exam within a few days. When I arrive I was examined promptly. His exam was performed in comfort, with the latest high tech. equipment that gave me an in depth review of the health of my eyes. He spent time to show me exactly what he saw and explained in detail the health of my eyes. This was a very professional and competent exam. My elderly Aunt received very poor service. Her old glasses had prism adjustments but Dr. McQueen's staff missed the adjustment in her new prescription, twice. This office lacks the equipment and expertise to properly identify prism need. The Office Manager was rude, unprofessional and refused us access to the doctor for corrections. Fortunately, the general manager on the adjacent Lenscrafter service identified the missing prism adjustment and arranged for a corrected prescription. read more

He took time to answer all my questions, put me at ease about my eye health, even though it was 7pm and they were officially closed - and he took another person after me who had called after 6:30pm with an issue - phenomenal customer service from a doctor!!! read more
