I was surprised at the large amount of freshly baked bread and decided to stock up a weeks worth of breads as well as a few muffins for myself and some workmates which was amazing , Other than all the breads anyone could want this guys have all kinds of other treats including cookies in many shapes and sizes pies ( apple pie, berry pie, meat pies an all the other pies), sticky date puddings, soft drinks and coffee which is honestly no that all praise worthy.

A non-pretentious little shop that sells fresh bread, pizza rolls, ham cheese rolls, cakes, croissants, sandwiches and other typical bakery items. They are quite busy during the mornings, with workers constantly coming in and out for a takeaway coffee and ham cheese croissant. They sell a few cakes (orange and poppy seed, sticky date, cheesecake, mud etc.), cupcakes, tarts, gingerbread men and meringues etc. They also sell muffins fresh in the mornings that are absolutely delicious! The flavors change every day, but they are all so good. I had a berry one once, and there was swirl of raspberry jam all the way through, it was fantastic. Definitely grab yourself a muffin from here. This bakery also stocks milk and pies.

I ordered a Batman and robin with a side of sujuk . what can I say, to put it simply it was the best toastie of my life!! It was served with a side of pickle onion which I took a bite of first just to line the stomach soon after I took a bite of sujuk sausage which I have never tried before and addicted too now, this is when I knew I was in for something special. The Batman and Robin wagu beef crispy beef strip which looked like bacon then topped with their famous cheese blend . Mouth watering just thinking about it now! I know were I'm going on Monday! well done guys keep up the great work.. one happy customer!!

Ordered two lattes, the Batman & Robin, the Lenny & Carl, a side of poutine fries and some pickles. We were the only ones waiting at the time, and everything was made to order which was good to see. However, the coffee beans weren't fresh and both coffees - one soy, one regular - were bland and luke warm, sort of tasting like warmed up milk. The sandwiches were much smaller than expected, based on photos from the Cheese and Bread social media pages. The Lenny & Carl was flavourless. It contains the "house cheese blend", bechamel and macaroni and cheese - however if you had told me it was just a singular cheese type in there, I wouldn't have been surprised. I guess I was expecting the usual American-cheesy flavour you'd get from macaroni and cheese, combined with a creamy bechamel. The Batman & Robin was slightly better, however - as my partner pointed out to me - the names of the sandwiches at Cheese and Bread follow a pattern of 'two things that go awesomely together', and the beef patty and beef slice were just okay, not awesome. The poutine fries were also lacking in flavour. The fries weren't salted, and there was barely any gravy or cheese. A good poutine should be smothered in gravy with cheese all through the fries, whereas this was maybe a small ladle of gravy with a sprinkle of packet tasty cheese on top. The person who served us was really friendly, and I suppose it was cool being able to have someone come take your order from you car and then make it on the spot, but the quality and flavour just wasn't there - and for $10 a sandwich, next time I feel the urge for a cheesy toasty, I'll use the money to go and buy more flavoursome ingredients and make it myself at home.

What a surprise!.. the Corner Post Cafe, Beaconsfield…read more This quaint little restaurant cafe tucked away on the bend of Woods street in Beaconsfield, Melbourne Victoria, Australia, is a pleasant surprise and a gastronomical gourmet just awaiting to tantalise and satisfy your appetite and palette. Open for breakfast and Lunch from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, it resides in modest but cosy 1878 colonial building, presumably first opened as a Post Office, complete with warm fireplace, multiple dining rooms and central open kitchen. The atmosphere is cosy and the staff are friendly and professional, and understand the concept of 'hospitality. The food is all and more you would hope and expect... some may say 'exquisite gourmet', others, like me "yummy, delicious and superb!" I'm not sure where Dunstan the Chef originally came from, but frankly Scarlet, it doesn't matter, because he is a passionate, dedicated Chef and a superb cook! We first accidentally arrived at the Corner Post Cafe on an outing one day, and just had a cafe latte with Dunstan's fresh home baked scones, jam and cream. Now in my time, as a leading Executive Chef having worked in some of the most prestigious establishments around the world, you can imagine, I have not only cooked a million scones, but also tasted as many. I bit into Dunstan's scone and my tastebuds were overwhelmed... in the best possibly way. They were nothing short of delicious and perfectly cooked... perfectly. We returned a few times to indulge in Dunstan's scones again, but then decided to branch out and try a lunch dish. I have to say, that was probably the best decision I made all that week. My wife and I shared one meal of a gourmet Beef, Mushroom and Burgundy Pie with salads and a side server of a delicious home made tomato chutney sauce, and a special of Salmon patties and fresh garden and potatoes salad. Well, the pie was indeed exquisite. It was constructed like something from a fairy tale, a perfectly cooked hightop puff pastry pie, with tender slow cooked beef and mushrooms in a perfectly balanced naturally thickened sauce... I mean, no starch to bulk it up, just pure natural demi glaze. The garden and potato salads were fresh, and properly cleaned and washed... one of my pet hates is restaurants that do not wash greens properly. The Salmon patties were light, but had enough body to feel like a proper meal, tasty with perfect seasoned balance. The accompanying salad included perfectly cooked asparagus and Chinese broccoli among an assortment of gourmet tomatoes, julienne of peppers, carrot, cucumber and eschallots, accompanied with a side server of a tasty homemade Aioli mayo. Both dishes were very well presented with care, and were a perfect balance. The prices were average, some a little less than others, but when the meals came out and we indulged, they were worth every cent. What a surprise, what a secret little find... we will certainly be going back to the Corner Post Cafe, and trying some of the Chef's other delights. We are going to try and make it for breakfast one day, as I have been told they do an excellent 'French Toast' with a twist, and I am intrigued. I have no hesitation in recommending this little treasure and if your don't enjoy it, I will eat my Michelin hat! Happy Dinning Chef Cristo

However, I did spend quite a bit of time perusing their selection. It is notably the first place I've seen in Australia to offer the new Ben and Jerry's dairy-free ice cream (which I had no room to try, sadly). They make a variety of fresh sandwiches and things, offer premade pastries and such, and sell a variety of hard to find goods. As with most vegan stores, it's pricey and something of a luxury, but a nice one to have. I would not, however, suggest that any non-Australian try anything with vegemite. I know I'm writing this place a positive review, but that stuff is pretty gross.
