What's not to like. Great service, food and atmosphere. Don't forget the pies! You can't go wrong on the menu. A must try.

Janet's has easily become one of my favorite breakfast spots in Santee. The servers are always friendly and attentive with coffee refills. And there's plenty of seating inside to suit any size group (I'm sure calling in helps with that too but I haven't tried organizing a large group during peak hours). I'd also say the portion sizes are very generous and worth the price. I'm go-to is the breakfast wrap. There are several options for the tortilla (flour, wheat, spinach) and protein options. I like to do bacon and Italian sausage in mine. On another occasion I order the biscuits and gravy. Unfortunately I don't have a picture for it but it was recommended I ordered the half order, and they were right! I love to eat but couldn't finish it. Unfortunately I thought the gravy lacked flavor and it was more so about the size of the plate rather than the flavors. Overall give this place a try if you're looking for a sit-down breakfast spot. read more

Absolutely fantastic service! Came in on Sunday, there was a 20 minute wait - ended up only being 15. My toddler was getting antsy so they brought her a little plate of fruit to hold her over. Our server Breanna (along with all the staff really) was incredibly attentive and kind. All the food was fabulous - best breakfast we've had in quite some time. Also, plenty of space to walk around (if you have a toddler then you know the struggle). Can't say enough good things about this place. Will definitely be coming back! read more

This place uses coconut oil for the grill so we were able to eat healthy easily. The asparagus omelet was soooo good I couldn't even believe it. Friendly staff except I think our waiter was overloaded because he didn't seem to know what he was doing but it's a busy restaurant so I understand. Definitely a favorite read more

Not sure what I think about this place. When my buddy and I walked in we were quickly seated and given a menu. Shortly after not even a minute the server was asking for our order. We weren't ready and then were ghosted for the next 10 minutes. I went up to the front counter and asked if we need to place our order there? They said "no, your server will be will you momentarily". A different server came instead of the first one. Wasn't even that busy and didn't like the attitude of the servers I guess once you get a bad vibe no matter how good the place may seem just all goes downhill from there. Don't think I would return anytime soon. read more

Super sad about the food. I was begging my husband to go for biscuits and gravy.we went to Janet's Cafe. The gravy came out Cole. I let the server know. He took it to the kitchen. And heated it in the microwave. Biscuit came back out hard and mushy from the microwave. Extremely disappointed. When I told the serve they really shouldn't microwave biscuits, she was like okay. For a restaurant that promotes Janet's homemade recipes, they should know that gravy from a can is not homemade. Janet's is definitely the owner anymore. read more

This place is tucked away in an unassuming shopping center in Santee. I stopped by for a weekday brunch and found parking right in front. The server was friendly and helpful in explaining some menu options. I went with the French toast and was glad that I did! It was perfectly savory and sweet and a great portion for $11. They also bring out complimentary fruit for kids which I thought was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend the next time you're craving a good brunch with a homey feel! Let me start this review by saying this is the BEST breakfast place in Santee. It's also conveniently right by the park so it's the perfect place to go after either disc golfing, playing with your kid, or going out for a stroll. Their cinnamon rolls are also PHENOM. Huge. Super sweet (I taste some cake frosting?). Divine. Everything else on the menu is basic breakfast fare with no flair. Solid but not amazing. Also huge proportions. Parking here has always been easy and they have an outdoor patio that's perfect during COVID times. All in all would visit again if in the area. read more

It was our first time here. I had the FRENCH TOAST COMBO. It comes with 6 1/2 slices of deliciousness. They're dusted with powdered sugar. It's a stand alone item or comes with 2 bacon OR sausage AND 2 eggs WHEN ORDERED AS A COMBO. My husband had the 1/2 ORDER of BISCUITS AND GRAVY COMBO. It came with 2 huge biscuits and plenty of gravy. This combo included 2 bacon OR sausage AND 2 eggs. The coffee was delicious, staff were friendly, attentive and atmosphere was very nice and clean. I totally recommend this place, but if eating at the Santee location, come EARLY! We tried to eat here yesterday and since it's a mini plaza with other businesses, the parking was packed. We'll come again in the future and try their lunch items. Hope this helps you decide. read more

8/16/23. A party of 6 and we arrived at 8am. Sat in the back. Nice and slow. We ordered at 8:10am and the food was out at 8:30am. They refilled the waters without asking. No problems on any of the 6 breakfast items ordered or the Philly Steak Sandwich I ordered for breakfast with onion rings. Everyone loved the breakfast items ordered. My dish was good but not great. The meat wasn't flavorful. But overall good. Total of 4 stars this time around. We were out at 9:10 am. See photos. The sandwich the bottom piece was a little soggy from the juices and the top slice was dry. Would given 5 stars if the bottom piece wasn't a little soggy. read more

I wish I could give 10 stars. We sat in the back with our puppy Moya for Breakfast. Our waiter came right over and got us our drinks and menus. OMG what a menu. It was hard to pick. I got the cinnamon French toast with eggs and Italian sausage. My husband chorizo combo with beans and tortillas. We got a side of sausage patty for Miss Moya and home fries to share. Another super nice waiter took our order. I ordered the cinnamon French Toast. It was covered in a glaze. It was amazing!! Like a French toast made sweet love to a Cinnabon and had a baby. My Italian sausage was well seasoned with a crunchy skin cooked just perfect. My husband, chorizo plate was delicious. The chorizo was perfect. He hates it when it's all eggs and a hint of chorizo. Not the case here. The refried beans, perfect! He loved the corn tortilla that tastes home made. It's a very beautiful setting with a nature park behind it to walk off our breakfast I highly recommend this place. read more

Years ago we mourned when the Janet's Cafe closed in Rancho San Diego but the location in Santee we visited a few weeks ago is every bit as good and has essentially the same excellent menu selections and attentive service. read more

08/30/21- We were seated and were only given two sets of utensils. There were three people in our party. Then we were only given one teaspoon. The coffee was okay. Pork chop with eggs- pork chop was very plainly seasoned and hash brown was supposed to be extra crispy but it was mushy. Omelette was good. The eggs tasted great. Same issue with the hash browns. The burger was decent and onion rings were yummy. Also it was unfortunate that we were not informed abt the board on the wall with the specials. I saw it too late. I've had breakfast at the Alpine location and I wasn't that pleased with the breakfast there too. read more

YUM! I saw the rave reviews for this place and decided to try it out with my brother. I was not disappointed! Situated in a strip mall in Santee, parking was ample. We went in the middle of the week, on a late morning, so I can't speak to how busy it is on the weekends. Don't let the outside fool you, seating areas abound and overall, the place itself is very cute! Bathrooms were very clean too! I ordered a BLT and my brother had an omelette. Both were delicious! I can't wait to try more menu items. I even took home some banana pie and coffee cake for my mother and she was thrilled! read more

My husband and I decided to try Janet's Cafe & Deli in Santee this past Sunday for brunch after seeing the great reviews. It definitely did not disappoint and even exceeded our expectations! All of the workers are extremely attentive, fast, and friendly, with a special shout out to our waitress. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name, but she went above and beyond from the ordering to checking on us regularly to be sure we didn't need anything. Additionally, the bus people were also very friendly and ready to refill our drinks and clean away finished dishes. And the food was delicious! I had the Eggs Benedict with hash browns served with a delicious salsa and my husband had a Reuben sandwich with macaroni salad. The portions were good-sized and reasonably priced. The restaurant is casual and a bit noisy, but it could be argued that is because they're so popular! There is plenty of seating, and it was larger than it initially appeared, with several rooms inside. They did have a few tables and chairs outside, but we honestly felt it was a bit awkward as there were several people waiting to be seated and they were standing right by the outside tables, so would be watching you eat. There was no one eating outside possibly due to this. There is a large parking lot, but it was quite full on this Sunday, though we did find a spot a bit farther away-not really an issue. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this restaurant since they have great food and notably exceptional service! read more

Generally we enjoy eating here. Staff are very accommodating and attentive. We love the outdoor patio. Restaurant is clean. They have great options for breakfast while we wait for dance class to end. We would like to make a request...We would appreciate an age appropriate option for my daughter that is allergic to eggs but can eat baked goods where egg and gluten are combined (protein chain is different when egg and gluten are combined and heated, encouraged to eat baked goods by her allergy specialist) We asked for 1/2 waffle and bacon. A homey brunch place with homey food. The servings are huge with reasonable prices and their menu has a plethora of options. Service is always amazing! They have a large backyard area and that's where most people sit, as it's very small on the inside. read more

It's one of East County's local spots. The food is great, but the ambiance is better. It's a "homey" feeling with homey food and vibes. I had the veggie wrap and hash browns. When we arrived, we sat outside because we had pets (only 2 tables outside). People who came after us, ate & left before our order was even taken. It was not busy. Manager did apologize. I have dined here many times. All have been excellent and beyond excellent service. Today when my daughter and I walked in there we'd hardly any customers. We ordered. The waitress name Brianna was assigned to us. She took my order and it was wrong. I didn't say anything. She never came back to refill my coffee or even asked if I needed anything else. I came to til the counter and Alyssa helped me. She was wonderful. Brianna came to my table and asked me "what do you need? We have been busy? ". That was very rude. I pay for my meal. The manager David came and listen to what happened. He was very apologetic and will take care of it. David and Alyssa handled the situation very well and professionally. I appreciate it. I love this place. It was always a 5star. But this time is 1 star If you haven't been here. Go try its good food. read more

There's nothing wrong with Janet's Cafe and Deli. Its morning-to-midday menu offers a wide variety of classic breakfasts, sandwiches, pies and cakes. These things are prepared well and quickly, using quality ingredients, and their reasonable pricing offers value for money spent. In fact, I've only ever been disappointed by two dishes at Janet's: a plate of pancakes, which were "eggy", requiring me to cut them with a knife; and a slice of coconut cream pie, whose custard was a bit starchy, and which could have been sweeter. But those were one-off issues, and, now that I think about it, they really weren't problems, so much as they were matters of taste and preference. The wait for a table can be a little disorganized, but it's tolerable, as Janet's customers are genial, and in my experience, few people are unhappy when the air smells of breakfast. Plus, Janet's customers seem mostly to be from the neighborhood, and if you live in Santee, and especially if you're an ardent Christian, you may see someone you know. Finally, the staff at Janet's doesn't seem to mind when I show up toting a cortado or latte from Kaffee Meister Coffeehouse, a couple of doors down. That's a kindness that I appreciate. read more

The portion was more than enough but for me, the dish itself was very average. And, although they were not very busy, I had to ask for coffee and water refills. Ate here on a Sunday morning. Waited twice the amount we were told. The seating was nice. The wait for our food so a bit long but that's understandable as it was a Sunday morning closer to noon. One person in our party got strawberry French toast when she had ordered strawberry pancakes, I had ordered the regular French toast so they had to remake both orders and our meals were last to come out. Waitress was nice and friendly, not sure where the mix up happened but it was resolved but took some time. I wouldn't mind going again but maybe a bit earlier and with a smaller group. read more
