Janex is off to a good start in my book. I submitted an application online for an account. Some how it was over looked. I called and I got a very welcoming conversation. It was explained and corrected without attempting to shift the blame to the customer (Good Hands Company). They got me set up right away over the phone and I was ready to shop. Impatiens (my favorites) by the hundreds, plus tomatoes, herbs, lettuce, peppers, corn, spinach - all the things I would love to grow but for the deer and rabbits that live in my backyard nature preserve! Over the years I have expanded my garden with perennials and Bachman's has the organic bug killers and fertilizers to keep them beautiful. As a purple card member, I also get special discounts and sales which are always fun. Today I got grass seed for the dog spots in my yard, tiny gloves so my grandson could help me plant the impatiens and herbs, and a fun experience watching a four-year-old ooh and aah over all the rows and rows of beautiful flowers. But no, I did not buy the rose tree he wanted. I'm not that good a gardener! I let him pick sedum. Something even I can't kill....!

Got a very nice Japanese maple, larch, and juniper tree to turn into a bonsai. They have some really rare, unique plants that I have not seen at other nursery.

Especially when you go to a website with a little red robot. I decided to use Twin City Seeds for my overseeding lawn project. Due to my semi large suburban lawn, I did not have the equipment nor the time to go all out like some people do with aerating, scarifying, turning on those in ground sprinklers etc, etc, etc. I did the much simpler route of cutting my lawn as low as I could with my mower, added some fertilizers, watering the bad areas of the lawn (which was like 50-75% got water), and hoped for the best. It took a while for my seeds to grow.. almost 2 months but that was probably due to my strict watering. However, my lawn looks amazing! There were almost no weeds and prior to this project... you could see areas of different generations/types of grass so my lawn was a hodgepodge of different sections of grass and it was very thinned out. Now, my lawn looks normal and it is all uniform. Dare I say... my lawn looks the best out of my entire block! I don't know how often I am going to have to overseed. However, I would buy seeds from this place again in the future!

We spent time browsing the mini grocery area, where they sell various interesting items such as honey comb and Turkish delight. My friend bought dried chamomile flowers in bulk to make tea. It was only a quarter the price of buying chamomile tea bags! In the building were some interesting art sculptures. I really like mixed use spaces like this.

Midtown Global Market has been such a staple in my life. It does such a good job of having food options from so many cultures and parts of the world. The food is reasonably priced and the workers are all so kind and knowledgable. Beyond just food, there is a huge selection of art, groceries, clothing, and more. MGM has always felt like the ideal of what Minneapolis is and can be. I am sad to see a lot of booths closed right now. My heart aches for my neighbors and community. I hope (and know) that MGM can bounce back and continue to be a place of diverse community. Love MGM always.

Being a believer in a mostly liberal state it was nice to see a business that wasn't ashamed about their beliefs - for that I appreciate what they are trying to do. In regards to price - some products are a little expensive compared to your bigger box retailers. Make sure your wallet knows that to help any impulse buys. As a plant nerd I often visit multiple local garden centers, avoiding big box stores after learning…read morethey participate in a form of consignment called "Scan to Pay" which means they carry zero financial risk for the plants they sell. This program allows them to not properly care for the plants they carry. It also allows them to avoid educating their staff in regards to proper care. The staff at the Mustard Seed prove that you get what you pay for. While some of the younger staff may not have the answers, they are willing to find someone who can. The staff is welcoming and go out of their way to help to the best of their ability. I have been coming here for years for annuals, veggies and perennials. It's incredibly rare that I have an experience that left me feeling dissatisfied (no one is perfect). The one thing that stands out at this garden center is that they do their very best to find specific plants just for you. I love this place. I appreciate the help from the staff and the education I receive when I ask for help.
