If you want your kid to have childhood trauma, afraid of going to dentist, go to this place. Not kid friendly, no empathy, no care. AT ALL. Took me me a year to write this negative review, because I've found a decent children dental place that treats my daughter like a human being. Truly appreciate the level care of the new place and still have seconded trauma from this Dr. Janice Work. We were in the waiting room, and my daughter saw a kid coming out bursting in tears crying, she got REALLY nervous and scared, she whined and complained she wanted to leave now. Then we got out the waiting room and they called us, my daughter suffered from the PAIN, even I could even feel it. Our doctor, she was very OLD, and she added the numbing and turned around, she pulled off ALL three teeth right off without waiting for the numbing to kick in, she pulled off the teeth, which left my daughter in horror. My daughter cried while she pulled off the teeth, and I watched her suffer, knowing that i'll never come back to this horrible place ever again. Half way going home, she stop crying, I asked why she stopped crying and she said that she couldn't feel her lips anymore. The numbing JUST kicked in, the horrible doctor we had should have waited, she barely even cared she was crying in pain. Few weeks later, there was a bubble on her gums, maybe she placed something wrong which left an infection or something. This started her trauma of going to dentist, even if it is just a check up. I don't recommend going to this horrifying place, go somewhere else better than this torture chamber. Highly not recommended! Go some where else that treat your kids with care. read more

My 2-year old fell down and chipped a large chunk of her front tooth. My general dentist referred me to another pediatric dentist but their earliest treatment appointment wasn't until 3 months later.  So, I found Dr. Janice Work through my in-network pediatric dental plan.  When I called in to schedule an appointment, I was greeted kindly.  I had a few criteria before deciding on choosing Dr. Work for my daughter. 1.  If she was accepting new patients 2.  If I can get a same-day new patient consultation and treatment (I am busy and I hate returning to get the treatment done after an initial consultation. The other dentists I called won't do this. I have called over 4 pediatric dentists and they said that is not their office procedure. 3. If she doesn't mind a 2-year-old crying and can work quickly and efficiently.    Dr. Janice met all my requirements. I did not go to Yelp to find reviews prior to deciding on Janice Work; and, thank goodness, because I'm so surprised by all the negative reviews. My experience was quite the opposite. Granted, I am not a parent that needs any hand-holding. I know my daughter will need to get her front teeth filled or have a crown put in.  I know my daughter will cry and will fuss. Not to dis any other parents on here who post about having their child traumatized....seriously...let them learn here and there. Stress is not all bad once your child learns to overcome them. It makes them more resilient. How the parent reacts to their children's stress can sometimes teach the child to manage their own stress. -sorry, I'm off my apple box. Due to Covid, the front office door had a sign to ring the doorbell to enter.  The waiting area was empty and clean.  Finding Nemo was playing on the tv screen. My daughter sat down comfortably on their sofa and made herself at home by taking her shoes off and watched the movie while I filled out paperwork.  After getting both our temperatures checked we were taken to the back room to get her X-rays done.  My daughter was fussy and didn't like to sit in her chair to get her x-rays done so, the staff allowed me to go in with her after asking if I was pregnant and putting on the heavy X-ray apron. She whined and moved a bit but the x-rays were taken swiftly and accurately.  There were NO retakes needed (our referring dentist couldn't take x-rays for our 2-year-old).  After the x-rays, we were taken into the exam room where the assistant gave my daughter a sheet of shiny stickers and a card so she could play.  Dr. Work came in pleasantly and took pictures of my daughter through her pad and let my daughter look at her pictures.  She even let my daughter play with her purple gloves but my daughter didn't want to. I was given directions to hug my daughter and have her legs go through my side. I laid my daughter's head down on Dr. Work's lap as she examined my daughter's teeth and broken tooth.  My daughter needed a crown, her chip was too big to fill in. Our treatment quote was done promptly and I gave the go-ahead to get the procedure done.  We went into another room to get her crown placed. My daughter is a strong 2-year-old so, I asked if she could have a body wrapped to prevent her from moving and kicking.  After coaxing her into making herself into a burrito the procedure began.  My daughter started crying right away, and then the wailing happened. She wanted out.  Dr. Work and her assistants were calm and talked to her and said everything was going to be alright. Of course, my daughter didn't want to hear all that and kept crying. After about 15 minutes the crown was put in and my daughter was done. She stopped crying as soon as she was unwrapped. Now, I'm not a parent that gets a whole lot of anxiety when I hear my babies cry so no, this is not a traumatic experience for me nor my child.  Yes, she can be fussy and wail during the procedure but wouldn't any 2-year-old do the same?  There was numbing cream applied so I knew she didn't feel any pain. My daughter is very vocal so she would have said so if she felt anything.  All she said the whole time was "I want to get out!" The whole ordeal lasted about 15 mins.  She stopped crying as soon as she was unwrapped and even smiled for the camera to show off her new tooth. My daughter was offered toys to choose from and she chose a stuffed bear and a red frog to bring home.  When she went back into the waiting room she hopped back onto the sofa to continue watching Nemo as I took care of the payment.  There were no hidden charges.  I love the fact that everything was presented to me in a straightforward manner UP-FRONT.  There were no up sales or extra fees because we had to use a wrap.  I happily paid and schedule my daughter for her 6-month cleaning. We would be switching to Dr. Work as my daughter's main pediatric dentist.  I have nothing bad to say about my experience at all. I will also be bringing my 6-year old to her without hesitation. read more

**Do not take your Kid here if you love them! Where do I start, we were referred to this office as my daughter needed a specialized child dentist. I will not refer to Janice Work as a Dr, as she should not be allowed to practice anymore. Once Janice started to do the procedure on my daughter it was all hell. She did not put enough numbing medicine on my daughter, my daughter key complaining it was hurting still and Janice did not care. She said that my daughter was numb enough and couldn't feel anything. Clearly not the case!! Janice continued to do work and now my daughters was in tears. We told her to stop and administer more, but she refused!! My daughter now completely distraught and in pain, we just couldn't walk out as Janice already started to drill. Janice continued to torture my daughter. She made us strap our daughter down so since she was in so much pain and wouldn't stop kicking. No child should ever have to go through such a traumatizing experience, this needs to be known that Janice is not a caring child dentist that her business says it is. I kick myself for not reading the Yelp reviews first, its just painful to read through all the others with the same experience for theirs kids. Janice needs to have he license pulled for doing procedures on children. We have been trying also to get her dental record from the day and her office is not responding. This review is for work done on my son in 2015. Save your self a trip and do not bring your child here! I regret, and i repeat.. I regret even stepping foot into this place and trusting them to AT LEAST, do a decent job. My son is now dramatize..seriously, No kidding. Go at your own risk. Her Assistants even hate her and she is not friendly. Don't let the nice setup fool you as it did with me. (Waiting room has 2 game stations, toys, teddy bears etc.VERY KID FRIENDLY) Her job performance was horrible!! The outcome for my son's crowns on his two front teeth came out to be huge. it was noticeably different as far as size and color! I was disappointed! Horrible experience!!!! I'm just sorry it took me 3 appointments to realize this place was so bad. My first experience with my 3 year old was fine since it was just a check up. They determined she had a condition in which her back teeth did not have any enamel on them. She had a cavity and had to go back. Let me just say that my daughter previously had NO problems with the dentist. The second appointment was to fill her cavity. Because she was to be sedated with laughing gas they said I could go back with her. Apparently the laughing gas didn't work on my daughter because it took 4 people including myself to hold her down. I should have stopped it then, but it was too far into the procedure. My daughter was completely traumatized. The doctor told me that they don't recommend anesthesia because it kills brain cells. When I later asked my pediatrician she said that's completely untrue. On to third appointment. A check up and cleaning. I could barely get my daughter in the office. She cried during the x-rays because she was so scared. I went in to help. The assistant yelled at both myself and my daughter because she couldn't keep the x-ray thing in her mouth. That was the last straw. I will be finding another dentist and would NOT recommend this dentist office to ANYONE! read more

Horrible and Traumatizing!!! I am still shocked that a child's dentist could be so horrible with children!!! We went to Dr. Work to have a spacer installed in my daughter's mouth to maintain the space where a tooth had been pulled. It was the first-- and only-- procedure we had ever hired Dr. Work to perform. As soon as she began the work, she would not listen to my daughter. Rather than talk the procedure through she forced her way into her mouth-- sneaking in shots and breaking all possible trust with her little patient. When my daughter responded in fear Dr. Work wanted she and her waiting staff to hold her down!!! My daughter is mild mannered, gentle and VERY reasonable. She has never needed to be held down for anything and if Dr. Work had taken the least amount of time to talk with her, she would have been a helpful, cheerful patient for her. At one point in the process, when my daughter cried out in pain. Dr. Work was insensitive to her and responded that what she had just done didn't hurt her, but I could see that my daughter's gum was bleeding! She had placed a metal clamp onto her gum rather than her tooth!!! When I asked her remove the clamp (trying not to panic and scare my daughter) and asked if she would stop and talk things through with my daughter, she was very defensive and argumentative-- responding that I was the problem. Looking at the other reviews here, I can see that is far from true. Please, do your child a favor and choose a different dentist. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Experience! My husband and I took my 3.5 yr old to her as a referral from our dental office. Right off the bat I didn't like their "1 parent only" rule. I was not allowed to go back there with my son and husband (we decided my husband was best as our son knows he can get away more with mom and needed xrays done). After the xrays I just couldn't sit and wait and walked myself back there and did not care otherwise. The assistant was instantly irritated and rude. Dr. Worked looked at my sons xrays for all of 2 minutes then in his mouth for another minute, said he had 8 cavities and would need to be put to sleep to do it all at once costing us $1000 out of pocket BC insurance doesn't cover that. She was very 'blunt' and no care or compassion behind her words at all. It was very obvious she wasn't there for the kids...and this is a kids dental office?!?!? I left in tears and went to my dental office whom I trust and they suggested to try it normal for a front cavity. When I called back the receptionist said I'd I've to get that 'ok-ed' with Dr. Work. She said it was OK to try but didn't recommend ist BC he won't hold still and will be very wiggly but it is an option is we don't want to out him to sleep. So we set an appointment to go back. On the day of his apt. They were 30 mins behind and I had asked if we (dad and I) could both be with our son, as this is the first time he's been through anything major. The same rude assistant from last time just looked at me and said 'only 1 parent in the back' and walked. My husband goes back and I get a text from him stating they want to strap him down and that someone will be coming to get me. I walk back there and there on the chair is full on body wrap and they expect us to just lay our son down so he can't move while they drill his teeth. Dr. Work who has no sympathy for tramatizing these kids just says "well I've been doing this for 30 years." My husband and I both told her we would not be traumatizing our son on his 1st dentalr visit and all she could say was look at him he can't even hold still in your arms how am I supposed to work on him? We will NOT be back at her business. She is a horrible children's dentist who clearly needs to retire. I could not imagine strapping my son down so he has no control what so ever. I wouldn't do that as an adult so why would it be okay to do that to a child who doesn't understand what is going on?! My son is Special Needs and well beyond the pediatric age, but Dr. Work continued to see him because she understands the need we faced. She was super accommodating to his needs. She gave him appointments when other children were not around so that he would not be overstimulated. Her office is gorgeously decorated in Disney. She plays movies in the waiting area and has a ton of toys for kids. She is patient and caring. We loved Dr. Work and would have continued with her if it hadn't been that my son is far too old now. read more

I do not recommend Jan Work to anyone. She allowed my son to choke on his own spit & blood that caused him to go into 2 seizure modes. I asked her to stop numerous times & she would not . His eyes were rolling in back his head & turning blue & gagging -she said he's going into seizure get the oxygen -after a couple mins he came back breathing & crying as she continued to work on a cap on his bottom tooth , he then was going into seizure as she had the oxygen mask barely on his nose & eye where he could not breathe -I finally yelled at her to get your hands off my child & give him oxygen & call 911 . He passed out three times we went by ambulance to the hospital & stayed all night . She is vile & I hope she never does this to another child. No stars rating. They are the worst !!! My son has a heart condition & has high functioning Down syndrome & he was very good going in there & I feel awful & am traumatized that we both had to experience that . The assistants just sit there & roll their eyes at each other . My son only got one cap on his tooth & it's loose & the other tooth she couldn't get the cap on & she drilled it down to a pointy nub it looks terrible, worse than when we first went in . Do not bring your children here!!! I went here several times with my daughter before wising up. Unfortunately, she was cursed genetically with very bad teeth and a too-small jaw to fit them, so she needed quite a bit of work. Here are just a few of the things that happened to us in those visits: My daughter was fitted with a cap that was far too big and caused her a lot of pain, and had to be replaced by another dentist later ($$$). They performed work on her during that visit without checking to see if the Novocaine worked- and then strapped her down. They REFUSED to let me go in with her (I should have walked out right then), and when I heard blood curdling screams coming from the room, I ran back and discovered that the Novocain wasn't working, and they were drilling in her tooth while she could feel everything! Leading up to this appointment, it took many weeks for them to get the work approved by our insurance. I called them on several occasions, and they always had an excuse, along with a complete different total every single time. (The Hispanic receptionist at this place is COMPLETELY incompetent. I've never come across anyone this clueless in my life, and I don't know how she has held her job this long.) When I finally walked in there and DEMANDED they call our insurance company, guess what??? They got the work approved immediately. During the previous visit, the dentist claimed she put in a cap (which had been pre-approved by insurance and we had documentation for that it was requested). When I looked in my daughter's mouth, there was no cap. The dentist flat-out lied to my face and said there was a cap on it, when I could clearly see there wasn't. When I showed her, she said, "Well, did you WANT me to cap it?" as if I just decided I wanted to pay a couple hundred dollars for a cap for no reason???!!!! Then she turned around and blamed the receptionist (understandable since the woman is clueless). Bad form, Dr. Since that tooth wasn't done, I had to spend an extra few hundred to get it taken care of at a later date. After these experiences, my daughter was completely traumatized. I talked to a friend who mentioned she had similar problems, and she gave me the name of another pediatric dental group that we are 100% happier with. One of the assistant scaled my daughter's teeth, slipped and cut a hole into her gum tissue and never told us anything. When we came home, my daughter kept complaining about the pain. It started to swell up because it could heal. Long story short, we ended up seeing an emergency dentist who recommended closing it with some stitches. Went back to confront her about being unprofessional and unethical, and Dr. Jan refused to acknowledge any of this. She told me herself that her assistants are licensed to scale teeth. I also work in the dental field and know for a fact that no one besides a hygienist or dentist can scale. That really upset me. I don't trust her anymore so I took my business somewhere else. She's lucky I'm nice enough to not sue her but it came pretty close. She might not be too lucky with the next family they do this to though. Be careful parents..... please take them somewhere where you know for a fact they are not practicing out of their scope of practice. My kids have been going to Dr. Works for quite a few years now. I think she's good for little kids ONLY if the parents let her know EXACTLY what you want done! If you want them to put topical cream, YOU NEED TO TELL THEM! I've always assume that the dentist would know that all kids should get the numbing topical cream prior to getting their shots, but I guess I was wrong. Secondly, they seem to like to overbook! If you're not the first appointment of the day, good luck! Minimum wait for my kids have always been no less than 1 hour! What's the point of having an appointment if you have to take hours off of work to have your kids' teeth cleaned?!?!? Time is money for everyone! 3rd, and the final straw for me at this place... their billing person SUCKS!! She lacks common sense skills. She lacks communication skills. LIAR, WILL FALSLEY DIAGNOSE YOU WITH PROBLEMS I'm 16 years old & have been @ this dentistry since I was around 6. I've never had any dental procedure done,(braces, fillings,etc.) Everything was fine for a couple years until one time I go in for a check up & she tells me I have this " one in a million condition" where a baby tooth is growing up and into my nasal cavities, which is the cause for my allergies. (???) She said I would need to have it surgically removed but she would leave it for 6 months to view its progress. So, 6 months later I go in & they do x-Rays. That tooth just magically disappears. I guess my body can make teeth dissapear! But this isn't even the best part. It's April of 2015, I'm going in for a basic check up and cleaning. It's true that my teeth cleaning habits haven't been as good as they should for those 6 months, so I was kind of worried that there might've been a cavity or two. I do my cleaning & after its done we both go see my x-Rays. She says I HAVE 8 CAVITIES and they need to be filled asap. 8 cavities in 6 months?? She's showing me the x Ray and is saying and showing me where they are between my teeth. I'm straining my eyes to see anything she is talking about but I see absolutely nothing. So I go to schedule an appointment for filling 3 cavities at a time & they put in the request to the insurance for the fillings. It's the day of the filling and I'm freaked out. I've never done any dental procedure before and I'm scared of what's going to happen. I request not to do nitris (laughing gas), and get the numbing cream put on my gum where they are going to do the shot. Once I see the needle I completely freak out, & to my dismay the dentist and her assistant aren't trying to comfort me, they are in some way black mailing me saying "do you want your mom to pay for all of this and you do nothing?" I think about it and I don't want my mom to waste her money so I lay back down. Once again I see the needle and can't do it. This time, Dr. Work and her assistant try to hold me down & give me the shot. (I do sports at school so I have a decent amount of strength. I rise up and refuse to do any fillings. After that, WHICH WE NEVER PLANNED, she tells her assistant to do sealants on some of my teeth. I could tell the assistant was pissed because she was so rude & not gentle to me at all, pulling my gums and not caring what I say. She says I need to be sedated and that'll cost $400. By this time I just want to switch dentists and get a second opinion. I find another dentist, FAB DENTAL( they're great), and go to them for a second opinion. It takes Dr. Work's staff 2 WHOLE WEEKS to email X-Rays to them so they can check it. I go in and she is vigorously looking through my teeth (in a good way, she is very gentle) touching, scratching, taking pictures of my teeth, trying to find any evidence of cavities & she finds NOT A SINGLE CAVITY. If I really wanted to, I can press charges against her for fraud. Don't take your kids here. read more

Be ready to be overcharged. $400 for a chld's sedative! The insurance generally accepted rate is $175. Explanation... "we can set the prices for whatever we want." My wife paid in full at time of service because they looked up to see what our insurance would pay. Surprise! Billed for more at a later date. Billing practices are horrible. No hesitation to threaten collections over the $50 after-the-fact billing. How do offices like this stay in business. Thee worst. She an older woman and just needs to retire. She had lady's there that take the for her mistakes, I'm sure to keep there jobs. So here's what I experienced. This is a children dental office so yes I have a six year old child. This office is nicely decorated with big fun looking video games systems , Tv's, and toys for the kiddos. It's a setup for the horrible work she (Dr. Janie Work )does. This was our second visit first appointment was great she did NO work preformed. Second appointment she preforms her services for my child's mouth. I was told when I got there two extra teeth needed to be removed and she hadn't ever looked in my child mouth. It been six months since she had any xrays or any check ups. Well, The results are horrible. She take my child to the back and to my understanding she was filling a cavity and removing two first teeth. I was told after they had my 6 year old baby sedated ...An assistance came out to inform me we needed to remove 4 front teeth and she needed 4 crowns on others of her baby teeth, and it was the best thing. Now I'm no doctor, and I tryed ask the right questions however, the right question wasn't enough. My child lost 8 baby teeth with having 1 cavity coming in this office. I feel like I failed my child to protect my child innocence trusting this doctor and her assistance. The worse mistake I have made on behave of my child. I believe She does more than she needs to to milk the insurance companies for more money. I believe her staff take the blame for her bad work and cover up things for the sake of maintaining their employment ,but their part of the problem too for their carelessness of patient care also. My child can't close her tooth together now because the crowns Ms Works used are too large and are causing my child has a noticeable bad dental work and pain. The worse part I went back the following Monday and she insisted she did good work ever while my child is stating she is in pain and can't close her teeth together. The staff literally stood by her side and nodded in approval as she said she did her best. NOW, SHE PROBABLY DID DO HER BEST BUT HER BEST ISN'T GOOD WORK!!! She is old and I believe ms work should only be allowed to clean and give referrals out but she SHOULD NOT do major dental work. The worse dental office I've ever been to. I'm NOW, looking for a new children's dental office to hopefully fix the mess she created or my child will have a sore mouth and have to wait it out all the pain of her teeth adjusting to these crappie crowns can you imagine waiting to your teeth shift?? After visiting my daughter's new and awesome pediatric dentist today, I feel compelled to write about the horrible experience we had with Janice Work in 2015. My daughter was traumatized by Janice Work and stills lives with the reverberations of this experience every time she goes to the dentist. The first visit we went to Janice Work's office was for a consultation about fillings my daughter needed when she was 6 years old. It went fine and she politely answered my questions. The second visit my daughter received two crowns on back molars. It went ok and my daughter was calm through the process. But, the third visit my daughter needed two more fillings on molars done. An assistant applied the topical anesthesia at most a minute before the injection anesthesia was given. Janice Work quickly started the filling. My daughter started crying and said with a mouth full of equipment "it hurts" "it hurts". I looked at Janice and she said there is no way that she was not numb. My daughter continued to cry and Janice explained it away as "comfort crying" and that she was not actually in pain. To this day my daughter still remembers, and she remembers it hurting and I believe her. When she had additional work with her new dentist, Dr. Darcy at Surfside Kids Dental they take much longer for the topical anesthesia to set in and allow time after the injection to begin the work of the filling. They consider the physical comfort of the child and the emotional well-being of the child and parent. Janice Work offered the extreme opposite = trauma. I wholeheartedly regret ever going to this dentist and honestly wish we could press a lawsuit against her. Please do not take your child to this dentist. read more

My son has been going to this dentist since his 1st exam and we have nothing but good things to say about the entire office. Sure there have been a few appt mix ups in the past 9 years but nothing we couldnt get over. They have worked with our insurance to make sure things get covered and my son is totally comfortable with them. They are one of the few places that offer nitrous which helps get through the bigger procedures. She always makes sure everything is taken care of when needed and explains to us if there are any issues that may be coming up soon. Couldnt ask for a better children dental office. read more

I am shocked this is a children's dentist. work was performed with out written consent and when they called for benefits they quoted everything was cover no out of pocket. Apparently their billing person doesn't understand how to read benefits and that wasn't the case. My kids now are leary about dentists when they never were before. Zero stars!!!!!Worst dentistry ever!! From beginning to the freaken end!! I was referred out to them by my sons primary dentist dr since they don't put kids under anymore. From my first appointment to the last appointment I've hated the experience, But I just kept giving them the benefit of the doubt. The receptionist is full of crap (Veronica is her name) from setting appointment and giving wrong informations. My son needed four front top tooth crowning done. The first appointment was just a quick chit chat looking at the teeth then the second appointment would be the last appointment as they would put my son to sleep to do all four crowning all at once.The anesthesiologist called me the night before to talk through my sons health history as he had heart murmur when he was born. Was told "ok" everything seems fine I will see you tomorrow! And guess what happens?? The anesthesiologist came to introduce himself and then told we need to reschedule the appointment because they don't have his health history about his heart murmur being cleared. So give them 48hrs to get his report back and if they can then I can get a clear trough his pediactric! (And getthis they had a damn whole month to look it up!!)I was beyond mad, irritated he could have said that over the phone so I wouldn't have wasted my time going there just to be told to reschedule!! Then "Veronica" told me she'll call me later to reschedule and guess what she does!? Sent me two emails asking which one I wanted. (When you are in a professional field and say you'll call a patient to reschedule you freaken call them) I was busy so I clicked on a early day cause I was getting sick and tired of dealing with them! And the next appointment wouldn't be another month away. I called to confirm and guess what Veronica says "oh" well its taken! (Eye roll whatever) another month guess by I get a call from Veronica asking if I've got a clear through the pediactric? I said yes if they needed proof call the pediactric. So she says; ok she'll call them to get everything sorted out. I get a phone call from my pediactric one week before the appointment to ask me did my son needed a referral to a cardiologist to be clear cause they got a call from dentistry office! So I had to call Veronica and yell at her. Apparently they decided to wanting a report through a cardiologist not his pediactric! So why did they not call me a all the weeks before leading up to the appointment only a week away!!?? So I contact the cardiologist to fax paperwork over to the damn dentist office! Which was the damn dentistry job in the damn first place not mine they had all the info I gave them already! Called Veronica back got into a heated argument with her. The day came to his appointment they told me from day one I wouldn't be able to be in the room when they did the procedure but one they were done I can go wait in the room where my son was until he woke up! Guess what?? When they were done I was told no! Not until he wakes up(by Veronica stupid bitch I swear) I was about to loose my patience I started raising my voice at her for being so unprofessional at their job. I had to another 35 minutes till I was able to go to my son. I picked my son up and left. When we got home one of his damn crown just fell out! Talked with Dr. Jenis who did his teeth and she talked like she did not give a crap and so high of herself. (It's time for her to retire) I am please to say I highly do no recommend this place rather you were referred out to the dentistry or it had good reviews cause it's all LIES!! Look somewhere else!! My regular dentist referred my son here for treatment. As soon as we opened the door we were greeted with the sound of a kid screaming in pain or fear in one of the rooms in the back. My first thought was, "isn't the whole point of a pediatric dentist to prevent a kid from screaming like that?". Clearly he was afraid or hurting so there must be something that they're not doing. I found the office to be dark and bland. You wouldn't know it was a pediatric dentist apart from a few toys on the floor. Everyone I encountered from the receptionist to the technician who took the x-rays to Dr. Work herself seemed to be exhausted and annoyed. When we were called back for the exam I was informed the x-rays revealed more cavities in my son's back teeth and that the recommended treatment is to sedate him, fix all the cavities at once, and cap the teeth. This seemed like too much to me. I've never even had this much dental work done. She seemed all too happy that I was leaning toward sedation as if she was thinking, "great! another kid that's gonna be knocked out while I work on him. This will be easy!". Of course the sedation anesthetic is not covered under insurance so that's $1000.00 right there. Then with the actual work being done under my insurance I'm looking at about $1400.00 out of pocket. I had no good feelings after leaving this office from the kid screaming to the dark environment, exhausted looking employees, and expense. I decided to refer my son elsewhere for treatment and have since found a pediatric dentist nearby that is recommending less aggressive treatment (and not involving sedation) for less money. read more

DO NOT EVER BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE. This woman is insane. After a long wait in her office (at least an hour and a half of "She's almost done"s by the receptionist who barely spoke English), I was brought back. It was fine that day because I just needed an exam before my wisdom tooth surgery. She told me to take some pain medication and I'd be fine. Then she gave me some vicodin. Funny, because she wasn't so liberal with drugs later on. As I left that day, I noticed some kid leaving from a cleaning in tears from the circular room full of dental chairs. Not only is this room not private at all, but pretty much the only sanitation they do is on the actual tools themselves. The room is kind of nasty. Who wants to get their teeth done in front of everyone in this nasty little room? I thought to myself. I ended up their for my FIRST surgery on my wisdom teeth. I still cry if I think about it. My mom payed several hundred dollars for this because "insurance won't pay for anesthesia" WRONG. The first of many lies. She also told us that anesthesia was bad for you and killed brain cells. WRONG. Minutes before my appoinment was to start she gave me something awful in a cup and kept asking me how I felt. I told her it wasn't working. After checking her watch several times she gave me some laughing gas to "speed up the process" She asked me how I felt one more time "nervous" I said "I don't feel the medicine" She said I'd just be fine if I looked at the screen because Harry Potter was on. The procedure itself was unspeakably awful. I could feel quite a bit of it and with tears streaming out of my eyes I tried to motion that it hurt. That I needed something for the pain. That just made them strap my arms down. After that, with Work still yanking with what looked like a pair of pliars (and felt even worse) at my teeth, the assistant leaned over to grab a tool and leaned on the tube feeding me the nitrous oxide. With my mouth effectively plugged for what was going on, I needed air from the tube over my nose. And I wasn't getting it. I tried to shake my head, moving my hands as much as I could under their restraints trying to make her understand I couldn't breath. I made strangled noises in my throat which Work could obviously understand because she responded "I know. Just breathe." Awesome. that was was I was trying to do. Pretty soon the assistant realized something was wrong and asked me something in another language. I gurgled and she nodded as if she understood and TOOK THE GAS. NOT what I meant!! Without the gas, I sobered up very quickly. I saw her pick up the pliars again and began to kick my legs. I breathed as deeply as I could and let out the first of several bloodcurdling screams. Taken aback by my show of aggression, she walked out of the room, leaving her assistant to stay trying to pin down my legs. My mother walked into the room moments later and was told to "Quiet her down. Tell her she needs to quit that screaming." As my mom tried to stroke my hair to soothe me, she was told she needed to get out of the way and move down. Work told her to "hold onto my feet so I wouldn't kick her". Pretty soon after that, they put down their tools saying "That's as far as we can go" They had taken out one tooth before the pain meds wore off and a second tooth without the pain meds. I hurt. I was in tears. And they assured me that "I'd been okay the whole time and after I had calmed down in a couple of months I could come back and get the other two out if they hadn't impacted." I felt like kicking over a tray but the pain had made me so woozy that it was all I could do to stumble out of the office and into my father, who had just arrived because my mother had called him for help after hearing me scream. He carried me out of that office and I will never EVER go back there. Even though I found a top-notch dentist and I never have to go back, I still get panic attacks when I think of dentists now. I was referred here by my daughter's dentist last year. The waiting room was fun and kept my daughter occupied and calm. When we got to the back it was a Cute Finding Nemo theme. All the kids were in one room, but they were all watching their own personal tv screens. My daughter picked a movie (Maleficent) and the dentist talked to me before starting. She said that if she needed any numbing shots that she would give them & that she would go with the flow, but based on her temperament she didn't think she would need them (my daughter was scared of the shots) & ended up getting a few cavities filled without shots to numb her & she was absolutely fine. I was very nervous before this appointment because my daughter's previous appt at a different office gave her some sort of oral medication (drank two different drinks) that made my daughter very loopy. She went from hysterically laughing to completely terrified, kicking and crying while strapped down): she remembered everything as well as her lip being burned when getting her tooth capped. Anytime my daughter can get work done without such a traumatic experience is definitely an A+ in my book! She brushes twice everyday but unfortunately seems to be prone to getting cavities. read more

nope, nope, nope. first appointment was fine...i guess. my daughter was just over a year, so nothing really needed. ready to come back for the second appointment and they failed to ensure proper insurance auth was in place. i called several times and they tried to insist it was fine. the day of, i called and they said they didn't have it, but would check and i could come in later that day. Um, no. I had an appointment I arranged time off work for... Finally got in to see a second time...made the appointment for 4:30. seems fine, right? Got 2 text messages to confirm the appointment...for 4:30 am, responded it was fine it pm was meant. When we got to the appointment, they were closing up the ofice. The secretary said they were closed and they couldn't see us. I told her the appointment was confirmed, twice. Apparently they closed at 3:30 and she didn't get a lunch that day. The dentist said they would see us anyway. My 2 year old screamed through the x-rays and then fought the dentist the whole time. Even literally soiled her diaper during this process. The dentist's response,"This is why we don't like to see them this late, she's tired." Um, no...she's scared. Completely disorganized as far as scheduling and authorizations. Dr. Jan is absolutely the best dentist there is!!! Our children have been going to Dr. Janice Work eversince my oldest child needed to see dentist for the first time, and she is 15 !!! now. From the very first visit to this day I am more than impressed with the staff: They are polite, courteous and very professional. The office is always clean and spotless. The many toys, computer games, that are available for children to play with, especially big stuffed toys make it a warm and inviting place for children. Makes my children comfortable and relax as if they were right at home. Dr. Janice is absolutely the best dentist I have ever met in my life (when I was a child I had many dental problems, so I have met many dentist to judge from), She makes my children feel like they are part of the family. She is very professional, courteous, friendly and kind. Her experience and many years of practice are obvious when she had to do some major procedures for my children. Every time we came in for the appointment we were treted with care and respect. Treated promptly and given as much time and attention neeeded, which is so rear now days in any bussiness or practice. As a mother of three children I am so pleased and impressed with the high level of proffessionalism we've been treated with by Dr. Janice and her staff. My children love Dr. Jan. They look forward to their next visit. And here is a quote form my 7-year-old: "I love Dr. Jan because she gives me toys and stickers, and a smile. It makes me smile back to her." I have been taking my 3 childen to dr.work for 4 years now, and i have always been happy with every visit. My youngest child is autistic, and this office is the only one that will treat him without putting him to sleep. My other children have had a couple of cavities filled here and they both had a pleasant experience. I stayed in the waiting room and they both came out with smiles. My children are always excited to visit dr.jan and her staff for their cleanings. The front office staff are have always been helpful and willing to work with me. I would never ever go back to that place do not take your kids there. One this lady look evil ass hell and she doesnt care for their pain. I took my son there for fillings they put him to sleep which i regret having them do. When they came out to get me my baby is waking up very drozzy still so i look in his mouth and he had fake teeth/crowns they put in crowns without asking me if thats what i wanted for him his gums looked so purple. To my eyes my sons teeth were not bad like that to were they had to do crowns when they told me they were just very small cavities.
