If you're someone with a busy life looking to truly disconnect and recharge, this is the place. Our room was cozy, clean, and full of rustic character, the kind of place that makes you feel instantly at ease. It had that old Maine lodge charm that feels authentic rather than overdone. The restaurant was another highlight. The meal we had was outstanding, thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. The menu was creative yet familiar, and our dishes were beautifully presented. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. Apparently they have a new chef, who prepared everything wonderfully. Karla at the bar made a lasting impression. She was warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. In fact, every staff member we encountered was kind, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about guests' experiences. It's rare to find that kind of consistency. Celina checked us in and was an absolute pro and delight. Brandy was our server in the restaurant and was an absolute delight to work with. We left feeling rested, well-fed, and grateful to have found such a special place. We're already looking forward to returning next year and soaking up more of the calm and charm that make the Kawanhee Inn such a gem. Tip: we love sleeping with a fan on. The room had an effective ceiling fan and a stand fan, but we also brought our own. The rooms, kitchen, living room space are all too good!! There are two pianos!! The best part is the scenery there. It's by the echo lake. Stunning view every morning. We met ahead of time and she was unbelievably helpful in not only planning how the photographs would go, but also the logistics of the proposal itself. I had planned on a beach proposal and I was able to give Julie a cooler with my now fiancée's favorite snacks and a bottle of champagne. Not only did Julie bring the cooler so that my fiancée had no idea, but she also brought a blanket for us! As much as I appreciated her being a great assistant in my proposal plans, it truly was her masterful photography skills that blew me away. Julie was able to capture our walk up the beach, the actual proposal, and then a number of photos afterwards. I'm not sure how, but Julie was able to get photographs of my fiancée and I on the beach in Saco on an August Saturday at noontime without anyone in the background! Not only are the photos amazing, Julie was the perfect mixture of allowing my fiancée and I to enjoy our moment while also capturing different photos and poses. I cannot recommend Julie enough!
