Over the years, we've hired Janis to document several important family events and also create memorable portraits for the holidays, high school portraits and other occasions .... she's always wowed us with her images! We bumped into Janis while out shopping the other night--we haven't seen her in 8 years, but it's crazy how we were able to connect like old friends again. We dug out our wedding album that night and soaked in each beautiful photo that Janis took. She captured so many wonderful moments that it made us feel like our wedding was just yesterday. We decided against hiring a videographer, so we wanted to ensure that the person we hired for our photos was a number one priority. I remember we must have interviewed at least half a dozen photographers before Janis. There was just something missing each time we would meet with someone new. My husband and I both knew after the first 15 minutes that she was the one and without even a discussion we were ready to sign a contract. Janis even went the extra mile for us and stayed longer than we expected to capture the father-daughter dance that we threw in last minute at the very end of the reception. My dad was super shy and so he originally did not want to dance so it was not included in the schedule, but on a whim, he decided to ask me to dance. Janis was the photographer in my wedding in November 2017. She did such an incredible job, we are STILL talking about what a blessing it was to have her there. We had a pre-meeting because I hadn't met her before, and Janis was so professional and helpful, I knew we would get along great. She gave some meaningful advice to think about before the wedding, and made a checklist of must-have photos for the big day. That was incredibly helpful the day of! For example, she looked up sunset times before we met to discuss. It helped me realize if we waited until the ceremony to see each other, everything would be dark! We decided to have a "first look" instead, which was also helpful to not rush after the ceremony. I didn't have a coordinator other than what came with the venue, and while I was overwhelmed, Janis was extremely professional, courteous, and super helpful in getting people together to get group photos we had discussed. She had such a positive and upbeat attitude, and made sure everything was just how I wanted! She helped the day go smoothly, I appreciated her attention to detail, and the best part is the photos turned out EXCEPTIONAL.
