Both my grandmas are having their birthdays this week and we decided to have lunch with them today and needed a cake. We called Jansen's Sweet Sinsations on our way to meet the grandmas for lunch and they had it ready when we got there. The service was great. They had some awesome iced cookies of suns with sunglasses on and water melons. I ordered 75 iced Suns with various colors of sunglasses and they had no problem. on the day I picked up my order. I also included some donuts that looked like inner tubes for the swimming pool, but they were actually donuts with sprinkles, but it worked. Had an awesome experience with Sweet Sinsations yesterday. I had originally contacted another local bakery looking for a 1/4 sheet cake. I was given a price over the phone and asked them to hold the cake until I could get there. I also asked to please write Happy Birthday on the cake. When I got there I was charged $5.00 more than I was quoted. Not happy, but when I saw the writing on the cake and thought a 5 year old could do a better job I left without purchasing the cake. As a last attempt - running out of time since I needed the cake in a few hours I stopped into Sweet Sinsations. This late in the day they only had 2 1/4 sheet cakes on display. 1 had lots of pink flowers and the other was white cake (white cake is not the birthday boys favorite). I guess the employee saw the disappointment on my face and offered to decorate a new 1/4 sheet cake. I was able to chose the cake flavor, icing flavor, their buttercream icing is to die for, and the decorations. The cake turned out beautiful and tasted fabulous! I want to like Jansen's Sweet Sinsations more, but there's a few things that hold me back. First, I'll start with the good: the donuts and baked goods here are freaking delicious. The donuts are consistently good and while I've only had cake from here once - a carrot cake - that was ridiculously delicious as well. The location is pretty easy to get in and out of too - it's on Snider Road between 42/Reading and Tylersville Road just behind the Marathon station. There is a huge pothole in the exit though - so be careful exiting if you are turning right. Now, for the not so good: service and price. The staff is as consistently unfriendly and rude as the donuts are good. Your presence is a bother to them, you are unwelcome. Why did you come here in the first place? This is the attitude I've been given when stopping in early in the mornings. Furthermore, while they are not ridiculously expensive, I've noticed that they are more expensive than other nearby bakeries. You can get the same quality/size pastries from other bakeries nearby for much less and with much friendlier staff - why even come here? read more

I will never be returning to this place after the experience I had today and I will be advising the my entire family, who has been coming here for years and ordering all of our birthday/celebration cakes from here, to never come here again as well. Upon entering the store today, the only person in FOH was not wearing a mask at all and being incredibly rude and condescending to the person she was speaking to on the phone. She proceeded to complain about the customer on the phone to another patron in the store, who she did not appear to know personally. She put her mask on to only cover her mouth and when I asked her to please put her mask on over her nose before she handled my food, she was standoffish and didn't even apologize. I was astonished at how rude she was and the only reason I bought food was because my mom wanted them or else I would have walked out the door the second I saw her not wearing a mask. How incompetent do you have to be to not know how to wear a mask 8 months into a pandemic that is only getting worse? Absolutely disgusting and the fact that she was so rude after I asked her NICELY to cover her nose is an absolute turn off for me and has ruined this business completely for me. read more

Consider this... if you get to the Busken's commissary in Hyde Park just in time for a fresh batch of warm donuts and danishs to be the "OH YES!!", then you understand the rating scale. Seriously, I think Jansen's puts crack into their donuts and danishes because I can't quit. They are so rich, soft, and just melting gooey. There's no way for me to adequately convey the fanboy that I am over this place. Words fail. Dunkin' Donuts = 3.0/5.0 Bonnie Lynn = 3.5/5.0 Busken's = 4.5/5.0 Servatti's = 4.5/5.0 but... Jansen's nails it at 6.0/5.0 If it were a band, I'd have a poster on the back of my office door. Get my drift? The birthday tradition where I work is that you bring in sweets on your birthday. I normally stop at Busken for doughnuts, but I spotted Sweet Sinsations a few weeks ago, so I stopped there today. Now, in my experience, little mom-n-pop shops like this always have the best doughnuts. Sweet Sinsations didn't disappoint. I bought two dozen mixed for $20 from two very nice ladies behind the counter. As soon as I got to work, I sampled my favorite -- the creme-filled doughnut. Oh. My. Gee. Most creme-filleds are stuffed with something more akin to icing than actual creme. Not this bad boy! The filling was a sweet, smooth creme that was absolutely delicious! The surrounding pastry was flaky and slightly crisp. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best doughnuts I've ever had. Definitely try Sweet Sinsations out the next time you want really good doughnuts. They also have a wide variety of other sweet treats -- cookies and cakes and pastries. The cookies were very colorful and looked delicious. I may pick up a dozen of those next time! read more

My experiences here as a regular customer. Let's start with service which I'd give a one or two stars rating. Not the most friendly or welcoming staff. They probably should be working behind a pharmacy counter somewhere. Unlike bakeries in the north or east or almost anywhere else I've been, this place is very stodgy and gives you 12 when you order a dozen of something. There is no such thing here as a 'baker's dozen' which I found a bit surprising. OK...so they aren't going to do the customer any favours/good will. I understand that's the way many small towns in the south operate. The bakery and especially the donuts are good. No complaints. I just wish I could go to another bakery with better service, but honestly, none of the bakeries in down south or around Cincinnati know the first thing in customer service which is disapointing. read more

My daughters birthday, my girlfriend said that she read awesome reviews online about this bakery and that she would get the cake. So as far as customer service, I have no input on. The cake was adequately decorated. But the taste and smell were deplorable. When cleaning up, realized that the majority of trash was cake on the plates with only a few bites taken.
