Wagyu Beef Bacon Cheese, Wagyu Terimayo and Aonori Fries
    Monica M.

Missed out on trying this in Vancouver, but was pleasantly surprised when I found them in the Well Market! There were so many options but settled on the Wagyu Terimayo and my friend got the Wagyu Bacon Cheese and Aonori fries. The hotdog was tasty with the additional ingredients but didn't really get the wagyu flavour from it. When you order they give you a ticket number and call you when your order is complete, which is fast and efficient. The whole ambiance of the market is cool and plenty of seats even though it was pretty busy for a sunday evening. The hotdogs range in price from around $8-14.

There is a JapaDog in Toronto?! Since when?! Was surprised to see this stall in the food court at the Well. So delighted! Ordered the terimayo which took about 10 min wait. This was a juicy dog.. covered in a nice mayo sauce and seaweed. I love it, even though I am never huge on hot dogs, I will have a JapaDog when I see it.

My friend (who lives in Vancouver) told me that I should try a Japadog, as it is a Japanese themed hotdog very unique to Toronto! On a weekend afternoon, my boyfriend and I visited the Well to try the Japadogs. The service was friendly and our orders (Chicken Karaage and Kurobuta Terimayo) came in a few minutes. Once we picked up the order, we were surprised by how small the hot dogs were (we paid around $8 - $12 for each hot dog)- we thought they were someone else's orders. They looked like kids' size orders. I picked Kurobuta Terimayo and it was tasty, the meat (pork) was juicy and the toppings were fresh. However, it was not amazing as I hoped it would be- it tasted like a regular hot dog with different toppings. My boyfriend chose Chicken Karaage and he agreed that the freshness was there. However, he shared that there was not much meat (chicken) in the pieces of the chicken karaage (so he was eating more of the fried batter) and they tasted bland. There was a special sauce in the hot dog, but he added that he was not able to taste it, as there was very little. Overall, we felt that it satisfied our cravings to some degree, but not great. Therefore, we ended up going to another place to get some more food. If you are curious, give this place a try.

This hotdog chain from Vancouver has the most unusual Japanese themed hotdogs ever & for not much more than the usual street meat (though they're also smaller than the usual). They get 3.5 stars. Got a love meat hotdog (pork sausage, beef sauce & torched cheese), aonori (seaweed) shaked fries & matcha age ice (bread, sugar & ice cream) The hotdog was decent, though the cheese didn't melt. It was like a pork coney dog with cheese. The fries were fresh enough but not well shaken so the flavour was uneven. It was good though, with nice umami. Age ice had decent ice cream & the bread was warm & crispy. Despite being deep fried it wasn't oily.

Tried the wagyu terimayo dog. Tasty seaweed toppings and a delightful teriyaki mayo sauce undone by a small dog and generic bun at a hefty price. Service was friendly and efficient t considering the long lines.

2 spicy cheese terimayo dogs. Actually, they were sausages.

It seems that Yelp doesn't want to acknowledge the Wellington Market has opened and there are several restaurants that have opened as well. My Japadog review was posted to the OG Vancouver listing. Located inside the Wellington Market at the Well, this is the first east coast location (that I know of). Originally, japadog started off as a stand but then gained enough popularity to open an actual storefront in Vancouver. It was exciting to see a lot of choices for this established west coast staple. Of course I had to try the OG Teri Mayo. This version was a spicy sausage with cheese. It was delish! The spice had some serious kick! Be warned, this place seems to have a very consistent line due to its popularity. 20 minutes is a good estimate for how long we waited. Being in a food court, you'll find seating somewhere on the premises. Just try to eat your food sooner than later to ensure freshness!

While visiting the market at the Well, out of their large variety of food options, I decided to try Japadog for a quick, easy and handy lunch. The staff recommended the Kurobuta Terimayo dog. It was a very delicious hotdog and definitely enough for me as a quick lunch on the go. They also have wagyu japadog that is a more premium option that I'd like to try next time. On top of the dogs, they also have karaage and takoyaki. Their desserts also look very attractive.

Pricey hot dog but it's worth a try. I tried the Terimayo wagyu dog and it was tasty! Bear in mind this is an occasional treat, because how does one justify a 15 bucks hot dog. Service was quick as being on a weekday there wasn't too much of a wait. This is located in The Well food court so there were plenty of seats around.

This is my first time trying Japadog after hearing great things about their Vancouver location. It's also in The Well - so amazing location! When deciding what to order, every option looked amazing and a bit overwhelming since they had a lot on their menu. I ended up ordering the Wagyu Terimayo and a side of butter shoyu fries. The hotdog itself was smaller than I expected, given that it was around 15 bucks. I get that I paid premium for the wagyu, but it tasted like any regular hotdog. I liked the toppings (what makes it a Japadog), but it was a bit heavy on the mayo where the whole hotdog was soggy. The fries were a big disappointment! I saw them shake the fries with seasoning, but the fries had absolutely no flavor to it. It was only the bottom few that had a hint of butter, but no shoyu at all. It was just like eating regular fries. Overall, I was disappointed with my meal, but I'm not sure if the other flavors are better than the one I got.

I had my first Japadog eons ago off their original cart in the streets of Vancouver. Ever since then I've dreamt of the day they'd arrive in Toronto. Nearly 20 years later it's finally happened. The dogs may be smaller than I remembered, and definitely inflation from that time has made this much more than when I used to drop off several twonies for it. But it scratched my nostalgic itch. Welcome to the 6.

i got their kurobuta terimayo and it was good, but not sure if it's worth the price. its nicely seasoned with the sauce and flakes, but I feel like there's better options out there for what I paid. this location is located in the well, so it's pretty lively and busy. service was decently quick though, and had a chance to get a spot nearby, even though it was busy

This bank has offices scattered throughout the downtown core. We occupied the ninth floor. I loved the location. I'd take the GO train from Markham down to Union Station, and take the PATH briefly to Brookfield Place. There are a bunch of elevators that don't all go up to the same floors. You need to find the floor interval that suits where you want to go. If you are a visitor, Brookfield Place is beautiful. I remember taking a couple of Swedish colleagues to a Toronto Maple Leafs game and we passed by my old workplace. The Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Brookfield Place. I suggested that they go, as they were huge hockey fans like I am. They went the following day and absolutely loved it. My love for Starbucks is due to working at Brookfield Place. I'd drop downstairs to get a drink and take a breather. It's convenient to do a bit of shopping or grab a bite to eat. There's a food court where there are many fast food eateries. I'm sure they have changed since I was last there. There is also a Longo's Market. I'd often get cubed fruit, such as watermelon and cantaloupe, that was easy to eat at my desk to keep me content throughout the afternoon. There used to be a Marche, where you can choose from sandwiches and hot meals. I don't think it's there anymore, but it was awesome. The top floor is where you get to see the high glass ceiling and gorgeous architecture. I didn't appreciate it when I worked here because it was a fairly crazy time in my life working full-time and doing a master's degree part-time. However, when I have returned as a visitor, be it during Nuit Blanche or when I'm heading to Scotiabank Arena, I appreciate how beautiful the crystal cathedral of commerce is. My favourite memory will always be lining up with a few colleagues to get a free heart rate monitor on the first floor of Brookfield Place. We enjoyed missing a bit of work, chatting with one other, and getting a health gift in return. I gave mine to my parents and they still use it to this day. I miss Brookfield Place and the various giveaways that take place. I don't miss the job that I had or the stress that I had experienced. Luckily, I do get to drop by whenever I'm attending a concert. You can enter and exit this eatery to get to the mall. I used to take Cantonese classes as a teen a block away. Afterwards, I had the option of hanging around this mall and then heading home by streetcars, or I'd go nuts and walk all the way down to Eaton Centre, hang around, and then go home. I loved malls back then. I can't say that I feel the same way these days. This mall is a shadow of itself, which is a shame. It used to be cool seeing vendors in the lobby. I got a sterling silver ring here when I was in grade 11. I still have it. Excellent quality. It still fits, too! Back then, bubble tea wasn't as popular as it is now. I did love getting iced pineapple drinks from a vendor in the basement. Sadly, it's gone, along with most of the food court down there. I saw two eateries in the basement that were left standing. The eateries are scattered on the ground, second, and fourth floors. Frankly, I don't know why the designers skipped naming the fourth floor the third floor. Chinese culture doesn't like the number four because it sounds like death when you say it out loud. Weird. The ground floor is the most interesting because it has the most stores. Sun Wah Bookstore has been kicking around for decades. It was nice seeing it again. Tung Tung Dan Quen King has bubble waffles and more. Sugar Marmalade is next to Juicy Dumpling, so you can stuff yourself with carbs and then go on a dessert high next door. There were a couple of Chinese herb stores, a pharmacy, a gift store, an optical store and more on the ground floor. It's such an eclectic, odd mix of stores. The second floor had six or seven businesses that were open. It was sad seeing half this floor vacant. There's a claw machine place called PaliPali Claw. I suck at claw games, so I didn't go in. Owl of Minerva, Clay Pot Rice, and Canteen are you eateries. I've never been to the fourth floor, There was a sign saying that Sky Dragon Chinese Restaurant is there. It's interesting that it's the only business up there. I hope that there's a rooftop patio or something up there, too. Forget hitting the washrooms here. They are gross. You're better off hitting the washrooms at Chinatown Centre where they are passable. It was nice to return, but the Dragon City that I loved as a teen is long gone. Instead, I embrace ice cream, bubble waffles, and dumplings. Here's to new memories! (341)
