    Heated terrace space

While a great concept and lovely space, it is poorly executed by the rude staff. Food: Mocktail - the drink was great. Tart with a slight sweetness that was complemented by a bowl of candy. Ambiance: Really beautiful and cool space. Service: Every positive aspect of this place was eclipsed by the terrible service. From the minute we stepped inside, we felt unwelcome. I understand language barriers are difficult and we were trying our best to speak and understand Spanish. However, when a restaurant has a gimmick like this that clearly caters to tourists, it may be best to pretend to be welcoming of those tourists.

Wow! This is definitely a spot you must visit if you are coming to Madrid. Just be aware that the waiters speak very little English and the menu is also in Spanish. I would recommend their "Brunch" special for 29 euros which comes with 2 dishes, a hot drink, and a cold drink. Their Shakshouka was the best I've ever had. It was full of flavor and was the star of the show. The ambiance is also great with lots of greenery and wonderful presentation of the dishes.

We found this secret garden bar while on vacation! It's hidden on top of a cute little store with lots of fun things to shop for after a round of drinks upstairs. We each ordered a different drink that was served with its own unique design. All were very tasty and a fun end to our night. Service took quite some time but we enjoyed the scenery and music while we waited.

Pan rústico y jamón con tinto de verano

While in Madrid I wanted to find a cute place to snack and get do some writing. I stumbled upon this place on the website like a local for Madrid. You have to enter through a store front and go up three flights of escalators (or take the elevator up) to reach the garden. It definitely does feel hidden and secretive. Once I got to the top I was VERY impressed by the decor. The space was so beautiful and covered in green plants and flowers (including some gorgeous) orchids right next to my table.) I ordered the "pan rústico y jamón" and a glass of the tinto se verano. The service was great and I almost instantly got my food and drink. The drink came with a small tapa which was small slices of toasted cinnamon bread and an olive tapenade. The ham and bread was WAY to much for one person so make sure to keep that in mind if your are coming alone. The ham was not ibérico so was not my favorite but the bread was covered in fresh tomatoes and olive oil and tastes amazing. The tinto de verano was by far my favorite I had while in Madrid. It is a huge cup for only 6 euros! Once the bill came I noticed that the ham was about 20 euros. That felt a little steep compared to other places in Madrid. I would just keep that in mind when visiting but it's worth it to come visit just for the atmosphere and a little get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Best described as: a floral jungle paradise tea room/cafe. Go if: you want to spend a morning with girlfriends nibbling pastries or brunch and sipping a fancy coffee, followed by shopping the store downstairs. Or a romantic date small plates and drinks in the evening, enjoying the evening breeze on the outdoor terrace surrounded by lush real and faux greenery. Price range: $$ (compared to NYC prices) Location: 3rd and 4th floors of a Salvador Bachiller store Personal opinion- loved the ambiance. The drinks and prices were probably 3 star worthy, and didn't try the warm food, but giving it an extra star for the lovely decor. Service felt a bit on the slower side but they were friendly and nothing significant to mention. We went on a Sunday around noon and it was mostly empty. Terrace on 4th floor is only for ordering food, if you want drinks, coffee or pastries only then they direct you to the 3rd floor.

Adorable! Brunch: delicious, cute, the perfect place for a girl's hang-out! They have acai bowls, pancakes, ice cream and amazing smoothies. Drinks: perfect cocktails for the artsy Instagrammer. Drinks come in pineapple cups, tiki heads, bird cages, mini bathtubs and more. Mojitos come with a stick of candy and all are creative. However, they are some of the priciest drinks in Madrid (10-15€ compared to the usual 5-7€). Atmosphere: ask for the rooftop. It's covered in plants, swings, and lights. A classic secret garden.

Loved this place! Can easily be missed but just trust your map, the place is upstairs and you will go through a store front. As soon as you get out of the elevator you'll feel your ZEN. The place is adorably decorated with plants and there's a good amount of mist spraying to keep you cool. You feel happy just enjoying your drink and meal while listening to some great play list!! Loved their green juices - had the green detox which had spinach, kale and mango, so good during a hot day!! Shared a burger that is made from wagyu beef topped with caramelized onion, Brie cheese and luscious slices of tomatoes, and it came with wedges of fries!

    Eggs Benedict & Waffles

Such a cute restaurant! Love the secret garden vibe! We got the eggs benedict and waffles and it was delicious! The fries were thinly cut and crispy! I could eat this everyday.

I visited on a rainy Thursday night so there wasn't a large crowd and I grabbed an open seat at the end of the bar. A friendly gentleman gave me a menu and asked what I was interested in. When I mentioned the Old Fashioned, he advised that it was an Amaro-based version without the usual bourbon/whiskey spirit. I noticed a Brooklyn and commented that I sometimes made those at home. Very politely he noted that if I was making them in the US, it wasn't with Amer Picon, which isn't available in the US. He's right. So an actual, real Brooklyn it would be! I thoroughly enjoyed the Brooklyn. I also enjoyed some brief conversation with the bartender who was very good. The kind who uses the spoon or straw to taste each drink to ensure it was made properly. As I was paying my bill and mentioning to the gentleman who initially greeted me that I wanted to bring my business partners here later in the week, he wrote his phone number on a business card and told me to call him in advance as the bar got very busy when it wasn't raining. Turns out, this friendly man is Alberto the owner! Guess I didn't do quite as much research as I could have! I regret we weren't able to make a second visit to 1862 Dry Bar on this particular trip, but it is going to be my first stop next time I'm back in Madrid. Great vibe, excellent staff and a classy and friendly owner.

I think they mean "Bar Rooster."…read more In any event ... Stopped in here on New Year's Day around 8:30 and the place was dead. For that reason, I can say the service was great. Everyone must have been hung over from the night before. Or still sleeping. The die hard NYE revelers stay out until about 7 AM in this country. Not me. I can't hang. Overall, the cocktail menu has about 20 of the usual suspects: martini, strawberry daiquiri, mai tai, manhattan, sidecar, etc. No prices in the menu but expect to pay about 7,25 each. In other words, about half the price you'd pay at a cocktail bar in New York, so a major bargain for me. The sidecar was delicious, as was the whiskey sour. While not explicitly clear in the menu, this place will either create cocktails for you or let you create your own. Just ask. Desperately wanting paella across the street at La Barraca, the unoccupied waiter took the time to run across the street to check on availability, then again to make a reservation. Excellent customer service, though he was taken aback at my gesture of a small tip for his efforts, which he reluctantly accepted. Bottom line is there really aren't that many bars in Madrid dedicated specifically to cocktails, despite the size of the city. Consider this place a rarity. Other: Very classy decor. Cool music. Chill vibes. Free wifi zone. No food.
