Worst decision of my life was choosing them for my home and car insurance. My husband and I received so many threatening letters about our insurance being dropped for the condition of our roof. Our roof was evaluated by a roofing company and a home inspector and both gave us documentation that it didn't need to be replaced. They also did a walk by of our neighbors homes which they were insuring and dropped them for their roof condition. It affected our mortgage losing our insurance with such short notice. It caused a stress on my family for absolutely no reason. This office also "forgot" to update my husband's drivers license information (which we sent in on time) and we received ANOTHER threatening notice that now our car insurance was being dropped last minute. This affected our car loans. This office and State Farm were a living nightmare. Happiest day of my life was when we cancelled our policies. I've had zero issues with Allstate. No threatening letters and no problems with our roof condition. Beware. read more

The benefit of having a local agent is for them to serve as a personalized single point of contact, but it's not useful if the only thing they do when you call with a question is point you to the generic 800 line. One of the worst experiences I have ever had in 35 years of working with insurance agents. Beware they are full of promises with no follow through or accurate information. I first worked with Derek when my family and I decided to switch our insurance from a different company to State Farm. Derek seemed to know what he was doing and gave an excellent quote. That was the last good experience I had with anyone in the agency. For the next 3 months our billing was never correct. I was calling weekly to get it sorted out and was continually assured by Derek that the problems were fixed. He continued to take the payment by phone for the quote he gave me assuring things were being fixed. 2 months in I get a cancelation notice because my account is $35 past due. I call Derek again he tells me to ignore it he is fixing everything and guarantees me I will not be dropped from insurance. 3 weeks later I get another notice and decide to call State Farm only to discover Derek has been misrepresenting and lying and I had actually been without insurance for over a week. After filling 3 separate complaints with State Farm, along comes the next person from Jared Dean's office, Sarah,. This is only a slight improvement in which at least she does not lie to me, but I continue to have to work with the corporate office to get anything resolved. Almost everything Sarah says she will do does not get done unless I continually check in. 5 months in and things are still not resolved. I reached out to Jared Dean himself on 3 separate occasions about the many issues and never received a response at all. Their customer service is awful, they have no follow through and can't be depended on. Their pricing is great but you can find that from any State Farm Office. I informed them that I had not requested any quotes online and while asking to be removed from the list, the (rude and impatient) caller hung up on me. as an Insurance Agency owner myself, I certainly would not want an employee handling these types of situations in such a manner. read more

I feel bad leaving a 1 star because the ladies that work there are fabulous! This review by no means says anything about them l, other than to say they are always helpful, sweet and responsive. This review is based on my experience with Jared and State Farm as a insurer. From day 1 my experience was just crap. I was quoted one amount and when I was ready to e sign documents my rate shot up about $20. This was within hours of my initial quote. No explination, it just went up. Since it was still cheaper than most companies I went ahead and signed. I was told everything was good to go. Great! Not the case... A month or two later I was issues several different cancellation notices for different issues. So they had all this info before I signed up, they have me sign and pay THEN decide to tell me the info I provided was not sufficient for coverage and I would be cancelled if it wasn't changed in I think a month. The issue was with my husbands licence. So we had to call vital records, have them fax and priority mail a birth certificare, go to the dmv, get the new licence number etc etc and send Jared the info before he'd cancel us. This ordeal cost us almost $100 in just fax and file, notary, mailing and printing charges alone. Once we gave the updated info he told us we might still be taken off the policy and be forced into a more expensive policy. What the hell?!?!? Not only did you say the info we originally gave was sufficient, then say it's not and force us into rushed filing.... but now you tell us when we fix the issue wed be fine and NOW you're telling g us we may be cancelled anyway and suggested a much higher rate?!?!? Bull crap. It ended up getting fixed but with a 1.5 year old and being 7months pregnant I was not doing well with all this stress, we had JUST Moved here from out of state and this is not what we needed to be worrying about. Then we got a letter saying that our VIN numbers didn't match their records and we were going to be penalized if we didn't fix it. If WE didn't fix THEIR error?? How does the VIN not match?!?@? Ugghh. We got that out of the way. Then I get a letter stating all of Oregon auto insurance rates are going up so they raised my rate almost $40!!!!!!!!! Omg. That's it I'm done!!!! I immediately got other rates and decided to go back to progressive where I get BETTER coverage for $20 LESS THAN my original rate at SF. Done! I cancelled with SF which wasn't easy. Every single agent between troutdale and portland had phones disconnected. I couldn't reach anyone. I emailed every email I've received from SF informing them of my decision to cancel immediately and to not charge my another dime. Of course it was one of the lovely ladies who was doing her job and made the time to call me back and professionally address my concerns. She helped me cancel and everything was over. So I thought. Just last week I got a BILL for $270ish for idk what..... had my husband call and she said to disregard the letter. Idk why they bothered to send it. I got it Friday night so I was stressed all weekend before finding out it was trash. Never again. NEVER. Maybe state farm is a good company for some but please do yourself a favor and avoid this agency unless you want to work solely with the lovely ladies who work the phones. Kudos to you! read more

This is a follow up from my previous review..Their underwriters reported the wrong mileage. Based on my dds app, they report my estimated annual mileage to be 8,500 in a year. I drove 300 miles in the past 6 months. I submitted proof from Toyota to show that I only drove 300 miles in 6 months. After the agent submitted my proof of mileage, the underwriters raised my insurance even more and say nothing we can do. I'm going to report to BBB and start looking for better options.. There are two reasons I'm happy with these guys: 1) The quote they gave me beat pretty much everyone else I reached out to 2) There's this feeling of security you get when you go with a big, reputable company while also having the benefit of knowing the name, address and phone number of a real-life (and very nice!) human that you can reach out to when you need something. We're so used to dealing with machines and cold processes that I actually felt a little uncomfortable dealing with a person at first... but that sure does fade quickly when you realize what companies used to operate like. Very nice people, BUT they messed up even the most basic thing I needed, which was a simple transfer. After calling several times and giving them two months, they did not get my address corrected, get my online account back up and going or my payment correct. I have been with this company for nearly a decade. This my Yelpers would not be the brand experience in which State Farm will allow.... After transferring my account from NYC to SF - that took minutes, so there is no excuse. Worse experience. I got quoted a nice quote for my two cars so I went with them. After my first month it went up 50 dollars. Second month 15 dollars and then 3rd month 10 dollars. Pretty much what happened was his employee added discounts to our account that we did not qualify for but I was unaware. So now underwriting says no you should pay this blah blah blah then I found out they didn't add my husband to the policy after I sent all his information and drivers license photo to them multiple times so now I'm back paying the difference on my plan. So that hasn't been dealt with how we feel it should be and he has said sorry and seems like that's it. I don't think I should be paying 75 dollars more a month than I was originally told due to his offices mistakes. They can't get anything correct. I needed renters insurance and needed an interested party and took them FOUR times to get the address right. Then I have a loan on my car, got a letter from the bank that they haven't received the policy and they were going to charge me to have them cover it. Which MULTIPLE times I told them to correct it. When I first started my policy the guy who started added some random women to my policy and refused to add my husband stating the women will lower my rate and my husband will raise it and he is covered to drive without being listed on the insurance. WHAT? I haven't had to use my insurance at all luckily because I'm sure it would be a headache and I'm in the process of getting new insurance and having a lawyer look into it and now after reading these reviews realize that this office does this frequently. Worked with a great account manager and customer service persons there. My wife and I have had a lot of issues with our past State Farm offices in Florida and Rhode Island. But, when We got our policies transferred here at the beginning of August things have been great. They even reached out to me to let me know my credit card had expired. Jared and his staff had me come into and complete a state transfer meeting to review my coverage and explained why my previous coverage was inadequate compared to my last policy. The best part of that is my homeowners insurance is so cheap compared to FL and RI here in Oregon. I am looking forward to working with them moving forward and have no worries about anything in regards to my insurance. I did ask the staff about recent changes in staff and they did let me know there was a transition period before I moved to Oregon but the man I spoke to, I think his name is John; has been nothing but extraordinary. He took extra time with me and throughly reviewed all aspects of my life to make my wife and I really feel covered. Office location is great right in the downtown area near my work and the Hawthorne bridge. And a bonus was they were able to meet with us on a Sunday. That's unheard of where I come from. Top marks all around and I am not sure why or how these other people can say they have been unprofessional. Best experience in my years with dealing with insurance agents. I couldn't be happier with Clinton and State Farm. First I left my old insurance company that charged me $60 more per month at least State Farm does! Second when I had a break in claim on my car with my old car insurance they required me to get a police report and it took them 6months and many sassy emails from their insurance adjusters to give me $200 (a fraction of what was stolen). After I switched to State Farm vandalism had happened to my poor car shattering the back windshield and denting the back tail gate which made the car no longer water proof. I had to take it to an auto body shop and had to get $2000 worth of work done to fix the damages. AND STATE FARM PAID FOR ALL OF IT!!!! They even called to follow up with me and also managed to up sell me on renters insurance for just $10 more per month! Seriously bizarre experience with these guys. I've had state farm with them for years, each time I call they give me a different agent, all of whom tell me different things and give me different quotes. I can't get any consistency. Then when I eventually cancelled one of my policies with them, they went ahead and cancelled all of them. For about a year now it's been a series of weird misunderstandings, and terrible communication, which has all been completely affecting my coverage. I started working with Jared about 5 or 6 years ago, maybe more, (time sure flies when you're having fun). I've had a financial advisor since I was 18, but I got linked up with Jared when I moved to Portland. Initially I was connected with him for basic car insurance, but when I expressed my financial needs we began to work on my retirement plan, savings, and several important insurance policies. Jared has always been consistently accessible when I have a question, want to change things, or forget what I am covered for. He never makes me feel pressured when it comes to insurance coverage and financial shifts. I am a pretty straight shooter, so I appreciate the no nonsense communication, and I'm pretty sure he'd hire me if I ever lost my job, so I guess that's some sort of blanketed job insurance that I'm not paying for. Worst experience I've ever had. While I can agree with other postings, they all seem very nice, the overall customer experience has left a very bad taste. They gave me a great rate to start, part of the reason I switched to State Farm. Over the past two years, my rates have increased 30%. 1st reason was "state wide rate increase. The state or nation do increases occasionally" She really couldn't explain further what that really meant. 2nd time was due to Senate Bill (SB 411) being passed in 2015. No one else I know experienced either of these rate increases. Aside from these two, my rate continues to increase with each policy renewal, and I have yet to meet anyone else whose rates just arbitrarily increase with each renewal. I even have some friends who have told me their rates go down occasionally. The rate just increased again, above the rate I was just quoted and approved two weeks ago. I am still waiting for a response to my phone call asking why. It took over 6 months of requests to add my son to my policy, then it took the new agent multiple tries to get it right. When I've called with questions, they tell me they will get right back to me, hit or miss with that one. I had to use roadside assistance a few times, dead battery, keys locked in car, a service for which I pay additional. Received a nasty note from them stating that I am using the service too much and am costing them money which may result in my premium being increased. Finally wrote an email to Jared about these issues. He did call me back, only to blame the some of issues on his employees or corporate, and just didn't respond to the others. I am currently shopping around, and so far, the proposed rates have been $50 - $100 a month cheaper on my auto, and over $100 a year less on my homeowners. a friend who is an arbitration lawyer for insurance claims just told me that State Farm is the absolute worst....wish I had know this before I gave them my business. I am so incredibly disappointed, as he had come with high recommendations and are a neighbor in my office building. I often see them in the lobby bribing folks with lunch to become new clients. I swear if I ever seem them down there, I will make sure to warn every person who is talking to them. I will absolutely be cancelling my policy with Jared Dean/State Farm first chance I get. It's even been recommended I report them to the DOJ consumer division, though not sure that would get me anywhere. read more

My man Raven is the best there is! Picking insurance can be confusing and complex, and interacting with insurance agents can feel dry. I used to dread going to the insurance office, but Raven changed all of that. He is so knowledgeable and was able to explain each of the pieces of my insurance in a simple way that anyone could understand. Even more, he actively looked for ways to save me money in ways I did not know. But most importantly, Raven is very personable. During our time together, he always asks about my passions and hobbies. I was positively surprised with his interest, and I know he truly cares about me and making sure I'm protected.
