"He bought it at Jareeeeeeedddd..." I have the radio jingle in my head even as I write this... My fiance bought my engagement ring here, and my first thought was "Really?! But it's GORGEOUS!" I don't know what I thought the Jared Galleria of Jewelry would look like, or what they would sell, but my Kmart impression was blown out of the water as soon as I actually set foot in the place. The store is really plush & nice, laid out well and always as quiet as a library (far from the 3-ring circus that is Robbins Bros.). Their services have lightning-fast turnaround, and they are so accomodating when you're there ("Can we get you a water, soda, coffee, clean your jewelry while you wait?") I'm so used to getting hand-written thank you cards after every trip to Jared that I was shocked to not even receive a follow-up phone call from Robbins Bros. when we were looking for my husband's band. From cleanings to resizings, they have taken such good care of me that I have returned to buy 3 more rings from them. They were even able to recreate a ring we found at another jeweler for $150 less! My fiancé had my engagement ring custom made at this location. The ring is beautiful. I also had my wedding band made here. One thing I noticed though is some of the employees are a bit too aggressive trying to sell jewelry. It is very obvious by some of the staff that they work on commission the way they pressure you as if this is the lowest cost you will ever see the jewelry. I personally don't like this kind of method and would find the staff more favorable by being little less pushy and just accommodating. If you don't press someone to purchase, you will likely have them come back to you when you're ready too. Since I am so in love with my ring and for the most part the staff we worked with was decent I give this store four stars. read more

Get ready for the HARD sell. These guys make used car salesmen look good. My fiance and I went in to look for a new engagement ring setting. She wanted a "double halo" with white gold. We were being helped by one of the salesman, when this assistant manager Brandt jumped in and took over for some reason. Brandt made it seem our *only* option was to buy the new setting with *platinum* prongs. We learned afterwards, from their competitor, that Jared employees get dinged on their performance reviews when they don't upsell platinum prongs because platinum has a higher markup than white gold. So now you know: if you are going to buy white gold, just get white gold prongs, you don't need to buy the more expensive platinum prongs. THE SERVICE PLAN: The really big hardsell was the $200 lifetime service plan that will be SHOVED DOWN YOUR THROAT. When I went outside to call someone to get their opinion on this service plan, my fiance told me the salesman was slamming books shut and throwing a minor temper tantrum. So when we told the guy we we were going to check out Robbins Bros before making a final decision he said, "Have fun at the minor leagues!" Wow, classy. I'll say this. If Robbins Bros is the minor leagues, then Jared must be the Little League because we bought our ring from Robbins Bros. I'm going to review them next. They are going to get five stars. read more

Extremely frustrated with this place. I got a mid grade watch here two years ago as they were one of the few authorized dealers around. That went fine. Now, two years later i need to replace the band. Two weeks ago I went in inquiring as to when they could get it done and was told someone would contact me the next day. I let a few days go by and finally called. (It is quite a drive from where i live) I was told the person in charge of watches would call me the next day. I didn't hear back so I called again. This time I was was told a different person would be able to help me and would give me a call the following day. Again, no call. I am going to have to travel even further now to find another authorized dealer. So, while I cant speak to their pricing, their customer service has been terrible. read more

Great service here! My fiancé and I picked out my engagement ring together here in May 2011. We received great help from Gina. She was very informative and patient with us as we looked at many options. I really liked that their engagement rings didn't have center stones in them. That way we chose the setting first and then put a center stone in a size that we wanted and placing it gently in the empty prongs. Originally I thought I wanted a 2ct center stone and after seeing it, I ended up liking 1.25ct best. It made it easier to imagine what my ring would actually look like. We had been to one other store where the rings had center stones that they would then place another stone on top of and it just didn't help me visualize things. I can't speak on the purchasing process since I wasn't there, but my man did get a financing plan through Jared and hasn't had any problems with it. So I have been shopping at Jared for 5+ years now and all experiences were pleasant up until my last purchase. I upgraded my wrap (traded in my current for a new) to my wedding ring on 10.18.20. However, after wearing the new ring for about 2.5 weeks i decided it just was not for me because it was getting caught on items and just didn't flow with my ring like the original. I returned my new ring on 11.6.20 and was told that i could not get my "trade-in" back 30 days from 11.6.20. Emma's words exactly were "30 days from the return". I said fine and returned it. I came home and researched the trade in policy and it stated 30 days from the original sales transaction, which meant i would be able to get my trade back on the 17th of Nov. I went to the store on 11.14.20 hoping to maybe it back early or at least request it back so i could pick it up by the 17th for my Vegas trip. I was again told it was 30 days from the return date and that the store manager, Richard would not let Emma return it to me prior to that. That would mean i couldn't get it back until 12.5.20 and with my vacation and thanksgiving coming up i did not want to be without a ring so i re-bought another wrap. I again went home and researched and this time saved the trade-in return policy to my phone so i could show Emma. I texted her and she basically said not and to talk to Richard the store manager. I called him today and explained to him all the above and he basically said since i re-bought something with my trade on the 14th, i had to now wait another 30 days. THE POINT IS, IF EMMA DID NOT LIE TO ME ABOUT WHEN I COULD GET MY RING BACK, THEN I WOULDNT HAVE RETRADED IT BACK IN. Bought a bracelet at theJared in National City. Tried to exchange it for another bracelet by the same manufacturer which was slightly different for the exact same price. It had never been worn and was still in the box brand new. The manager wouldn't even consider it because the return date was expired by 2 weeks. I explained I didn't want a refund, just an even exchange. He knew it was brand new and never worn and didn't dispute that. He said he needed to go by their policy. They are one of the better places to go to for repairs to your jewelry, and they are decent priced too. The whole process from inspection and repair took a total of one day. We took it in for inspection and were given a quote on a Saturday and picked up the next day after 4pm. The whole process was smooth and just overall great. I'm told that because I didn't buy my ring at Jared's then I will need to go back to that exact store in order to get my ring repaired. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Hours after getting engaged, I needed to have my ring re-sized. We decided to come here to have it re-sized. The sales girl was nice, but made it very clear she was better than working at a jewelry store and was only there because her dad was high up in the company. Got my finger sized. Had the ring re-sized. It only took a couple hours, which was nice, because they were slow that Sunday afternoon. When we returned, after eating dinner, the ring did not fit at all. It was WAY too small and was painful to get on and off. The manager, Harvey (totally RUDE), defended the sales associate by saying she never does anything wrong and it's because my fingers swelled so badly. Really, after two hours? THAT much? He said take it home and try it for a week and see if it ever fits throughout the day. It didn't. After becoming engaged I was elated! But because my ring was SO small and painful to take on/off I DREADED wearing it :( Not how you want to feel after becoming engaged :( I returned the following weekend and Harvey REFUSED to re-size it!! He said it was my fault, so it would be another $130 to have it resized. Really? It's my fault your sales associate wrote down the wrong size? It literally needed to be re-sized one half size up (and actually Harvey said himself it should have been a whole size bigger, but I felt like the whole size up was too big). So tell me, how this could be my fault--her writing down the wrong size, when I tore up my knuckle trying to get my ring on and off? I'll tell you how. Harvey said it was my fault because I "signed off on it." Well, I "signed-off" on it because I trusted your dingbat associate!! At this point, Harvey was yelling at my fiancee and I, BLAMING me for the mistake. Defending his associate that she could NEVER do anything wrong. She's never made a mistake in her life. Blah blah blah. Three other couples who were browsing engagement rings walked out--good for them! Harvey refused to fix the mistake for free, after we already paid $130 to have it re-sized once, so we decided to leave. I asked for the district manager's phone number, which he refused to give me, and instead I had to spend two hours on the phone with customer service in order to get directly to the person above Harvey. When I finally did, I left a message. A couple days later he called back. He said yes, absolutely go back it will be resized at no charge. I spoke to Harvey. I will never return to this store and I tell everyone I can about how horribly Harvey treated us. read more

Gonna knock a few stars off because I am pretty upset with the way they run their business now. When Hubs and I purchased wedding rings, we were talked into buying the insurance plan which sounds like a really good thing on paper. You bring in your ring twice a year and they inspect it and if something ever happens to one of your stones, they'll replace it. Awesome, right? I took my ring in and they inspected it and a few short weeks later, I realized one of the diamonds had already fallen out and vanished into oblivion. So I took it in to make good on their promise to make my wedding ring as good as new. (See previous review about it taking FOREVER to get someone to help you if you are there for any reason other than dropping a hefty chunk of change on shiny trinkets.) When I finally got to turn my ring in, I was told they have to send it back to the ring maker and would have it back to me in 4-6 weeks but they "would call me because it would probably come in sooner". Fast forward to 5 weeks later. I call them to inquire and "Nope. Not in. We'll call you." They call hubs around week 6 and inform him that they can't find a matching diamond and they haven't even started on my ring yet but the estimate is now 6-8 weeks. Fast forward to today and they STILL haven't found a diamond and have revised their estimate to 8-12 weeks. So I'm at a loss as to where to start complaining about the way they run a business. I've been without my wedding ring for almost two months, after we paid for insurance so they would fix it but they "can't". * * * UPDATE * * * Fast forward to when I eventually got my ring back. The diamond they replaced my lost one with is not even close to my old diamond! It might be the same size or shape, but it has a HUGE blemish in the center that looks black and awful. When we paid extra for the plan that they would would replace any damage to the ring, we expected it to actually be a GOOD replacement. read more

Two words: NEVER AGAIN My then-fiance and I were looking for his wedding band about month before our big day and browsed the different cases. We stopped and found the ring we've been looking for! The ever-so-thoughtful sales lady (Kim) asked if we needed help and we told her we wanted to see the ring. She hesitated to pull the ring out the case, then said, "I'm not sure if you'll be able to afford this". We were in shock and thought, "Did she REALLY just say that?!?!" I know my husband and I look young, but MAYBE, just maybe... we just aged more graciously than this woman who chose to come to work with make-up that didn't compliment her skin and frizzy hair (I didn't make a judgement and ask if she owned a mirror). After that lovely ordeal, we decided to browse other cases and find another sales associate (it's possible she was the only incompetent fool in the store). We didn't get any other help, BUT we did hear the pleasant Kim exclaim, "JESUS! Why would you even wait just a few weeks before your wedding to find a ring?!?!" Lady, if you really needed to know, my husband just returned from his deployment a week prior. We asked for the manager and reported what happened. This sleazy guy came out and literally kissed my my hand, then proceeded to kiss my ass as if I were an idiot. Sorry, my husband and I don't respond to BS. UGH. Okay so I don't know if Jared is to blame, but here's the recent news regarding my wedding band. I have been married for 4 months and have been back and forth to Jared FOUR times for diamond replacement on my band. WHAT?! I've had 4 small stones on my wedding band fall out over the past 4 months and it's getting ridiculous. Every time I walk in, I express my sadness over losing these diamonds (seriously, when I look down at my band and notice a big ugly gap where a diamond should be I want to cry!), and they look surprised and say I must have hit my ring on something. Uh....no. Maybe the first time, because I had no idea this could even happen. However, the second, third, and fourth times, I have been so paranoid over losing yet another diamond, that I literally check my hand like 20+ times a day to make sure they're all still there and if I DO happen to hit it on anything, I immediately run my fingers over my ring to make sure no stones are missing or loose. This must be a design flaw of my ring; OR they aren't "tightening the prongs" like they promise to do. Either way, it's more their fault than mine. I'm a photographer, which doesn't exactly entail tons of labor with my ring finger, and the most activity it gets is probably washing dishes. This shouldn't have happened 4 times. The good news is, with their diamond protection warranty or whatever it's called, as long as I come in every 6 months for inspection, I'll continue to get FREE diamond replacement. Apparently this is true even for the large stone on my engagement ring, so it IS a comfort. However, they change my "inspection months" every time I've gone in for a stone replacement (to be 6 months from THAT date) so now I'm all confused and have no idea when it is. I'm nervous I'll forget an inspection and be screwed. Overall, their repair time is pretty good (typically 1-2 days), but it still sucks to be a newlywed and have to go ring-less for a few days every month. read more

Their website advertises a placement that you can put your own diamond into on their site and says there is a $350 white gold option in stores only. I go there and have my consultation. They have the placement, no problem, and she puts a loose diamond on top to show me what it would look like. They compliment the quality of the diamond that was handed down to me, when I was half expecting them to tell me a lie to get me to make a bigger sale. The lifetime warranty add on price isn't bad, so I was honestly ready to make a sale. WAS. THEN, the sales lady says "let me go in the back and make sure they can do it." Huh? Why can't you do it? Aren't you jewelry experts? She comes back after 2 minutes, hardly enough time for a good opinion, and tells me they can ONLY do it if I get a platinum band, "for the safety of the diamond." No, you just want me to drop about $500 more so you can sucker me into getting a credit card with you. They refused to make a ring with the "cheap" placement option, so I took my business elsewhere because I'm not stupid. read more

OH man I wish we could have flexed our budget more to keep us OUT of Jared's. The customer service was horrible, the knowledge of products was horrible, and the prices went from cheap (about 3 products) to astronomically out of range. We ended up purchasing her wedding band from Jared. Ring came in absolutely terrible quality, had another shipped, which was not the size we ordered, which led to yet another trip into Jared. There was very little attempt to rectify the errors that Jared employees had made. No discounts, which any other retailer would do to ensure your visit was pleasurable. All there was, was a sorry, which does not cut it with a business of this size. We will NOT be back, and see no reason to recommend this jeweler to anyone. GO TO ROBBIN'S BROTHERS WHERE YOU WILL BE TREATED WITH RESPECT NO MATTER YOUR BUDGET. Anyway, I went with a buddy to take a look at some wedding rings ( sucker ) and everything was just astronomically priced. Lots of nice looking stuff though. BEWARE OF SHADY PRACTICES!!!! I will not include the shipping, pickup and rude customer service we had in the beginning after purchasing my necklace. So I bought an 18kt white gold certified diamond cross pendant a few years ago and added the extra service to have it redipped with no charge for the lifetime of the jewelry. I can only wear 18kt or higher or else I get rashes and or green marks. I came in every six months to have my 18kt white gold chain and pendant redipped and inspected. First time, they didn't even dip it right and I had to go back and show them that they didn't do it correctly. I own a couple of jewlers loupes that I use to inspect all my jewelry before it is taken to the jewlers to be inspected and cleaned. So a couple of hours later I get it back, I see that it was fully dipped and left. Mind you I lived in Ramona at the time and waiting all day for my necklace to be correctly dipped and inspected was very inconvenient when it should only be about an hour. Fast forward to last year. I have now moved out of state where the closest Jarred's is 3 hours away. But I keep getting rashes when I wear my necklace for the past year. I went to a different jewler to have it inspected and they tell me it was dipped in 14kt gold or higher but definitely not 18kt gold. IM PISSED!!!!! I went to Jared and was waited on by Justin. I explained what I was trying to do and he was AWESOME. We looked at a bunch of rings in my price range. I was pretty unsure about what to get, but Justin assured me that it's fairly common after a proposal for the couple to return and swap out the ring for something else. I asked if that would be a problem and he said no, just keep the receipt. After a lot of hemming and hawing, I finally picked something out and he put it in a ring box and then put that in a gift box and tied it perfectly with a little bow. I took it home and there it sat for a couple of months before I got up the nerve to pop the question. Finally, a couple of days before Christmas, I did the deed. I surprised my boyfriend and got down on one knee and produced the ring (hint: having Train's song "Marry Me" in the background when you do it is a great idea and I highly recommend it). After what seemed like an eternity (5 whole seconds!) he eventually said yes. Perhaps not surprisingly, my rather "particular" boyfriend did in fact want to swap the ring out. I called Jared to see if Justin was working that day and he was, so we headed back to Jared about 20 minutes after the proposal and picked something out considerably more expensive (and we got two, one for him and one for me). However, they gave me FULL RETURN PRICE on the ring I had bought earlier and so the price wasn't that bad afterall. I am very thankful to Justin and am wearing my ring as I type this review. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that we must have been asked if we wanted coffee or water or cocoa about 5 times. They were very nice about it and very sweet, but really? They must have some awesome bathrooms there or something because they just KEPT asking! Anyway... great service, great price and great rings. She prides herself on getting to know her customer's personalities which is helpful since there is a wide selection of precious loose diamonds, gemstones, necklaces, rings, bracelets, watches, Pandora, Lois Hill, etc... My diamond engagement ring was custom-made. It was a fun and smooth process from picking out the diamond to designing the setting and the end result..well it is fabulous!! But although I have several lovely pieces handpicked with Rhonda's help, she also makes sure that the the stones are tight and in good repair when I come in to have my jewelry cleaned "on the house". Jared wasn't the first place I started looking for an engagement ring, but it was the last place I needed to go. I looked all over town following friends recommendations but nobody could do the custom ring my girlfriend wanted, at a price I could afford. I walked into Jared and talked to Monica and Justin and they showed me some great rings, so I had my girlfriend come in to look at them and give them a yea or nay. She didn't like either of them so with their help we designed one for her right on the spot. And they did it under my budget which was pretty low to begin with. I was so excited that we were getting the ring we wanted for less then I was planning on spending. So that's not the only reason they get a 5 star review. We needed a really low profile ring but what they though was low and what we thought was low didn't match up the first time they built it. We told them it needed to be lower and they made it lower. When we got it back it was still not low enough so they took it back and made it lower again. This time it was perfect! And they did the 3 changes in only 10 days so I was able to propose exactly when I wanted to. And of the course the price never changed. They busted their butt to make our ring exactly as we asked, for exactly what they said they would, and exactly when they said they could. You can't ask for more then that. Their selection of rose gold settings was great, better than any other place we went. We used a band from one ring, a setting from another and a diamond from a third ring to make our perfect ring. I had the best experience today at Jared's in Mission Valley. I came in 15 minutes before closing hours and was assisted by Rhonda Bell. I came in to pick up my ring after repairs and the fit was a bit tight! Rhonda was not only able to get my ring re-sized, but she was able to do it SAME DAY! If that's not superior customer service I don't know what is! I will definitely continue to do business here after the services I received from Rhonda! She's a great asset to the company and goes out of her way for her customers! read more
