Thrilled with our experience with Jared and Dottie. I love working with tradespeople that care as much about the work as the homeowners do. We are doing a complete renovation of a home from 1898 and it has been a labor of love restoring some of the original features and adding modern conveniences. All of the rooms were carpeted, and one of the first things we knew we were going to do with the house was expose and refinish the hardwood. We were surprised / disappointed to find out when we removed the carpet that the floors originally had an area rug and was stained around - a fairly common practice at the time. What that meant for us was that we would always have a "ring" around the perimeter that was a different color. We were almost to the point of covering with new floor, afraid of what the end results would look like. But Jared was passionate that if these were his floors, he would be refinishing them. I love that personal investment, and I am so glad that we took the chance refinishing! Yes, you can see that little bit of a perimeter, but I am absolutely in love with the floors and all of the character they bring. More impressive was our main entry stairs. The woodworking on the stairs is incredible, and one of the things we most loved about the house, but the entire staircase was completely carpeted. We took off the carpet and it had this awful and impossible-to-remove green glue. Again, after a couple of days of trying to remove it, we were ready to give up on them and re-carpet and after talking to Jared he said "we can do this." So not only did they clean up the stairs completely, but he managed to mix and create the perfect stain color to match the old chestnut on the stairs - a mix of brown, orange, and yellow - depending on the angle you were looking at! They turned out absolutely incredible and are going to be a centerpiece in our home. Overall, I loved Jared's approach to the work, collaboration, and personality. He was absolutely the right fit for us, gave us a competitive price, and we are thrilled with the results. Thanks for caring about our place and giving us floors we will treasure forever! read more

We were happy with the outcome of working with Jared. The level of service and professionalism, however, left much to be desired. When we agreed to work with them, there was no contract, no formal agreement, no clear expectations expressed in writing of either one of us. I asked a few questions, which were answered, but not without asking why I was asking. A red flag should have been when I spoke to someone else who had hired this company, and they warned me that the team had damaged many of their baseboards and re-installed them incorrectly. Unsurprisingly, when it came time for the work to be done, some miscommunications became clear. In the past, when we had had our floors refinished, we weren't responsible for moving all of our furniture out of the house; the company we hired would move things, as needed, between the rooms. That isn't the case with this company, but we didn't realize that until we received a phone call on the day that the work was supposed to begin where Jared expressed incredulity that we would expect the furniture to be moved for us. The conversation turned surprisingly tense; Jared kept saying he would just pack up and leave, but I repeated again and again that I didn't want that. After awhile, he stopped speaking to me and we hung up with a lot of questions still unanswered. For instance, Jared never asked how we wanted the stairs refinished-- I checked in over text and discovered that was another miscommunication. We had also agreed in advance that he would send me photos of the different stains he was considering using; that never happened and instead I received a photo of the completely finished (but nice looking!) floors. About a week after the work concluded, Jared called to ask if I was happy with the outcome. I was out of town, and hadn't seen the floors for myself, so I told him I couldn't comment, and that he should call my husband to ask him instead, since my husband had been at home. He never did. I found out later that my husband spent days cleaning up the dust that the team left behind. I believe their estimate sent over email mentioned that there might be some dust left behind, but this was insane. It was in every room of the house, even rooms they had not worked in-- even rooms on floors they weren't working on. It seems there was no attempt to minimize the dust, at all-- something others found shocking when I told them, because it is apparently unusual for this kind of work to leave such a mess. Certainly it hasn't been my experience in the past. In addition, because Jared never called my husband back after the work was finished, our house key was not returned for several weeks. When it finally was, Jared left it under our welcome mat, contra my husband's instructions, showing less respect than we would prefer for our home's security. In the end, our floors do look really nice. We can't complain about the quality of the work performed. But each of these miscommunications and missteps were pretty frustrating to go through, and accordingly I can't recommend this company. read more

Jared refinished my hardwood floors in 3 BRs in my 1900s farmhouse. They came out beautiful and still look fantastic 2 years later! Jared and his crew were kind and courteous while in my home. There were several days I couldn't be home and I gave them access to the house. They always locked up after they left and were very trustworthy. I plan on having them back to refinish other rooms in my home in the future. If you are looking for a great floor guy, Jared and his team are it! Prices were fair and they were at my home when they said they would be. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to refinish their floors or any other flooring needs! read more

I can't say enough good things about Jared's flooring. He's professional, willing to come up with creative solutions, kind, hard worker, flexible and goes beyond to make sure that jobs done right. We also really like Dotty who works with him. Jared not only did a beautiful job refinishing hardwood floors in our foyer and stairs throughout house, but he worked in creative ways to figure out what to do with some of the floors, after we pulled up carpet hoping to find hardwood and instead we found floors in bad condition and too beat up and thin to refinish in traditional way (and some even were plywood). Jared worked with me to find best and economical solution. For our second floor hallway he removed plywood and took existing pine wood planks from an old bookcase we had taken apart, and he put in a whole new floor in our hallway. He also refinished our bedroom hardwood floors with a beautiful blackwash finish and matched the new hallway floors to that. He made sure the finish was just right and it all flowed because we were dealing with three different floors all connecting between hallway and bedroom! Additionally, Jared prepped and lightly sanded and cleaned old oak and pine floors downstairs (kitchen, dining, living rooms) that all connected but some were too damaged and thin to refinish traditionally. I decided to chalk paint them to get whitewash look and then Jared returned to put three coats of polyurethane on. We are very happy with his work and would use him again for other projects. read more
