I'm a pharmaceutical rep and have covered almost all of the state and NYC, and I can attest that Dr Pondo is the best of the best. He is so knowledgeable about every disease state, and will walk you through the science behind what is going on in your body. He is so thorough and gets to the bottom of your ailment. He is not one of the doctors who will let you walk out the door without an answer! And his main priority are his patients. He is always going above and beyond. Cannot recommend him enough! I've been a patient of Dr. Pondo's for the last 10years at this point and the quality of service has gone down hill. I'm unsure if its the staff that is the issue or if its coming at the doctor's directions. I've been following up on a prior authorization for medication for nearly two weeks now after having seen the doctor 3 weeks ago. I was informed that the "nurse" was working on it in the initial calls. Now the office flat out rejects my calls and sends me to voicemail. I was never rude, just insistent that I receive a call back to inform me of the status. I called my insurance company and as it turns out the pre-authorization had not even been requested. I called from a different number and the office picked up immediately. The receptionist was dismissive and deflected to the "nurse" who will be in later in the day. Very disappoint that a once attentive and helpful doctor has gotten to the point where I feel strongly enough to write a review to warn other patients. read more

Unable to keep appointments. I showed up for my appointment and the door was locked. I knocked and called several times with no answer. I also left a voicemail with no reply. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise, since it is doubtful that someone who doesn't know how to look at a calendar can be trusted to perform M.D. tasks sufficiently. read more

This guy is THE MAN!!!! Tells you like it is and doesn't sugar coat anything. He is genuine. Stays away from medications which is amazing for doctors to do being that they are always courted by the pharmaceutical sales reps/companies to do so.Personal follow up calls with test results. The receptionist is extremely rude. She didn't want to give me an estimate for an exam I need to get and screamed to me on the phone though I was speaking very patiently and politely. I would never go into this office for a checkup because of the bad attitude. read more

Dr. Pondo, although a nice man, is abusing his practice. He prescribes antidepressants after only one twenty minute visit, without even mentioning that it is an antidepressant. The only risk he mentioned was "decreased sex drive" but nothing about withdrawal, changes in personality, increases in suicidal thoughts, and so on. I didn't even know it was an antidepressant prescription until Walgreens called me a week after I got the meds to check on me to see how I was feeling. Never received a follow-up from Dr. Pondo and I immediately stopped taking the meds when I realized what they were. Despite being a medical doctor and not a clinician or psychiatrist, he prescribes this stuff way too loosely. Somehow, it seems like he lacks the experience to know how serious these drugs are OR is getting paid off by the pharmaceutical industry to prescribe them to first time patients without any referrals to therapy or psychological professionals. Do not trust this guy, no matter how friendly he may seem. read more

if you want a 10 minute physical, in and out and rude receptionist than this place is for you.had my first appointment a year ago, during the exam i told dr pondo that i had epstein barr and if he could issue a prescription, which he did,but as it turned out the prescription was only for three refills.this is a retrovirus with no cure as of yet ,so the prescription is only for alleviation of symptoms,and it is not a narcotic, and there is nothing a doctor can due once diagnosis is made, so the prescription needs to be permanent,and all doctors are aware of this fact. dr pondo denied a refill request from my pharmacist,as well as denying my request when i stopped by the office,with the receptionist saying that it was a law that i needed to make an appointment first.all this even though i scheduled an appointment for a physical two weeks forward of the day i walked into the office.i actually made the appointment first for a physical,and then told the receptionist that i had been experiencing symptoms for two weeks ,( that was the denial to the pharmacy) the receptionist said can't it wait???i said no,that's when another receptionist said it was a law that i needed an appointment,that they've been doing it for 10 years like that, and that i should take a seat and make an appointment for that very moment.i asked for the doctor to call me, the receptionist said i was making a commotion, all this while talking to me from 15 feet away the whole time, and then turning away and shaking her head as in disbelief as if i was problem.not once did i raise my voice or act impolite .there were other patients in the room and they were giving thumbs up to me.i told them i wouldwait to at least talk to the doctor,he actually hid in between 2 appointments.finally after speaking in polish via intercom to the receptionist, he too spoke to me from afar and said it was rule of law,lol, and requested that i not come back, which gladly , i will not. read more

First and foremost, the office was clean, the secretary was very nice. Their were places to sit without sitting on top of someone. All in all just upon entering it was already a positive experience. My wait wasn't long at all, considering some of the dr offices I've been to in my life. Upon meeting the Dr. I was very pleased with his enthusiasm and his listening skills. Very often I feel like I'm being showed the door and I leave feeling like nothing was addressed. Well again I'm happy to say this was not my experience here. He was a Very kind man with a great disposition who clearly cares about his patients. read more

Dr. Pondo is a great doctor. I cannot believe I found someone like him by just googling some MDs and I am so glad I selected him out of all the choices I had. He's very detailed, optimistic, and caring; he takes time to explain everything to you -- from the root of the problem to the end -- and helps you understand what is going on with you. His staff is nice as well, he tries his best to get you the best medication for a decent/low price (especially if you don't have insurance), instead of racking up crazy $$$ for prescriptions and isn't quick to make you get crazy prescriptions--he really focuses on a holistic approach and aims to solve your problem naturally and suitable for your lifestyle. But, he's very good at catching something much more serious -- as a doc should be -- and urges you right away for treatments, additional tests, etc. As someone of Indian background, sometimes some of us like to stick with docs who speak our language, but with Dr. Pondo, it doesn't even matter how broken your english can get! He understands completely & helps you understand. It started with me and now he has become my whole family's doctor.... read more
