My siblings and I ended up here after handling some unfortunate business nearby. It's a spacious place and the food was good. The wait was a little longer than normal, but we just enjoyed conversing with one another. The mini margaritas were the perfect size. The servers were great. I would come again if I passed through there again. We actually caught the town's Christmas parade as we were leaving which cheered us up a bit. read more

Kingstree is a small town with few sit-down restaurants, but Jarritos is great. It's downtown, and plenty of parking is available on the street or behind the courthouse. My mom and I visited after business at the courthouse and appreciated that we could just walk over and get a sit-down meal. Even at almost 3 PM, lots of diners were inside. This seems to be an after school hangout for the kids from Williamsburg Academy. Still, the crowd was pretty diverse because we saw other locals and folks who looked like they were downtown for courthouse business. Everyone's first impression of a Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa. The mild salsa here has no spice and little flavor, and the hot salsa is very spicy. The hot salsa was a little too hot to eat with chips. My mom just didn't eat salsa. I wish the mild had more kick or a bit of cilantro. Lunch specials are available until 3, so my mom ordered a Burrito Fundido Lunch ($9.99) and I had a Vegetarian Taco Loco ($10.50). Our main dishes made up for the salsa. My mom's burrito was full of chicken, and she really enjoyed her meal. My taco loco was great too- I loved all the veggies inside, including the spinach and zucchini. I know it was a calorie bomb being inside a fried tortilla shell and covered with sour cream, guac, and cheese, but at least I was giving my body some vegetables. We didn't have anything from the bar, but the prices were incredibly inexpensive, especially for happy hour which starts at 4. Construction is going on outside the restaurant, so you may see equipment outside or have to enter through a side door, but the restaurant is still open and serving- and it's definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. read more

This place is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. I'm currently staying in kingstree for work and I'm not exaggerating when I say we eat here every night. I have not eaten anything that was not delicious. The food is excellent the staff are friendly and the prices are great. Parking is not a problem and the building is located right on Main Street. Good food, nice ambience and local! Our little town doesn't have a lot of restaurants especially to sit down at and this is refreshing! Most of the furniture is wood with flowers glossed on and the art is an interesting touch; eclectic and vintage feel. Steak dinner and Mexican pizza was delicious. Yes delicious I must say. Had the Cadillac margarita with grand gala, Jose Cuervo and 1800 shots in it. The mix over powered the pitcher we had. I had to order two extra shots. Aaaannnd it was around $30 for the pitcher. Food delicious. Drinks is a No for me. I might be back when I stop through Kingstree again. Great local restaurant in the heart of Kingstree. Arrival time was 11:15 a.m., and we were seated promptly by kind staff. Dr. Pepper and sweet tea were both good, and we ordered beef tacos with pico de gallo and sour cream the chicken molé, which came out at the same time within about 10 minutes. The molé sauce tasted good. The refried beans and rice were both OK. I much rather would have had white rice with seasoned black beans with diced tomatoes and chopped cilantro on top and fresh flour tortillas (not store bought) for a more authentic Mexican meal. And it wasn't a negative per se, but I did notice a bullet hole in the window and asked the server if that was what it really was, and she said, "yes" and that "it has been there a long time." Visible COVID-19 Precautions: * wait staff wore masks * groups were spaced out (every other table had a closed sign) * the table we sat at had been cleaned and had nothing on it prior to us sitting there (no salt/pepper shaker, napkin holder, etc.) * a server brought extra napkins and wrapped silverware to the table when she seated us *wish 3 different servers would not have come to check on us, it would be safer to have just one consistent server* read more

Although the service kinda lacked here the food was great. It is one of the rare few tasty options in Kingstree (I'm a city girl visiting this cute little quaint town). They were overwhelmed and short staff for the large dance competition crowd that came in right before us which explains the lack of service. The nachos were delicious!! I added rice. The Margaritas tasted like juice mostly but they were on special. One of the waitresses did apologize and explain what was occurring. I highly recommend the food here though, definitely give it a shot! read more

Ate here last night...... it was the only place in town that was open... that wasn't fast food. What a fantastic find in this little town. I'm originally from the Washington DC area where there were many fine Hispanic restaurants. Now living in Charleston SC where there are dozens of great Mexican restaurants too. I know a thing or two about good fresh Mexican food. This place is about as good as it gets for the price. The chips are made daily in house instead of premade bagged chips. Guacamole is fresh. All of the ingredients are fresh. I spoke with the owner about some of his preparation techniques and you could tell that he takes pride in how they prepare dishes with only fresh ingredients. Service was attentive and friendly......especially considering that we went in at 9 PM. The most important thing is that the food was served hot and was delivered to the table in a reasonable amount of time. This owner and this restaurant are doing the right thing and I applaud them for what they've accomplished. At 90 minutes away from Charleston it won't be a regular stop for me but I certainly look forward to my next visit there. read more

I've eaten there once and can't wait to return. I will say the food was wonderful! But the communication with the staff can be a bit on the difficult side. I wasn't sure who my waiter was. A better option for what I wanted was on the menu but they didn't offer it to me. I could have gotten more food for less money. Anyway, I took a menu home and have read it over and can't wait to try the Fajita Taco Salad and the Texas Fajitas. The grilled flavor is is addictive. I like the location, even though it is downtown, there is ample parking. And even though when you drive by, the place looks sorta small, there are plenty of booths and tables within. I was passing through Florence and needed to kill me some time and stuff my face. I was looking for BBQ and the though of pork weighed heavy on my mind like a prize wining sow. Now, as you might know, but I did not, on Sunday the famous BBQ place in Florence closes. So, after wandering aimlessly through the streets of Florence, I happened across this place. Everything was real clean, and the wait staff was nice...attentive, but not overbearing. I had Pork in Tomatillo sauce, and it was might fine. The food is terrible. Tastes like it comes from a can. The service is good but I went to eat. If you must go DO NOT order the chili verde, the chili relleno, nothing with salsa verde (green sauce). In fact stay far far way from the salsa verde. No chili flavor just a lot of seeds and bitter acidic taste of limes. The beans seemed to be canned SMH on that. The rice was full of carrots and peas...not my choice in Mexican/Spanish rice. read more

There was really very little flavor although the tortilla it was in was cooked pretty well. They didn't provide sour cream, so I'm guessing you have to ask for it. I love this place. Our family comes at least once a week. We bring our 3 year old grand baby and she is right at home. The restaurant has a very warm and welcoming family setting. The waitresses are always on top of their game! They interact with us and have even made friends with my grand baby. I recommend this place over any place in the state of South Carolina.
