I have been wanting to try Luna for a while. I made an impromptu lunch trip to give it a try. I was not disappointed. I had too many of the delicious tortilla chips and salsa (picture 1). After talking with the bartender, we found out that the owners are the same that own El Cerro. But they have completely different menus. Sitting at the bar, we ordered cocktails. A sangria for me and a margarita for him. They do give you warm chips with different sauces. The interior is large with a great bar. After sucking on our cocktails, we decided what we wanted to eat. The enchiladas mole for him and the suizas for me. My meal came with white rice. He said his was good but I am not a fan of mole sauce. My dinner was good but way too much for me. What a great treasure to come across on my way from Myrtle to Charleston. The staff were so incredibly friendly and attentive and I could not stop eating the queso! I love that they serve you 3 different salsas with the complementary chips, but take it easy on them because you want to stay hungry for the food! We needed a break from seafood and decided to get some Mexican while on vacation. The cheese dip was very good. Nice and thick. I got the carnitas tacos, and they pack the meat into these tacos. They were delicious! The Mexican rice was just ok. They were very busy and clearly understaffed. We ended up waiting more than the 30 minutes they originally said, but our server was working super hard trying to get us drinks and stopping by our table to see if we needed anything. My mom doesn't eat meat, and she got the vegetarian quesadilla. She said it was one of the best quesadillas she's ever had. This place was a little pricier than your typical Mexican restaurant, but the portions were large. The food was fantastic, so I would come back again. One thing to note is they charge 2% for using a credit card, so bring cash if you want to avoid that. read more

We were in town for a cheer competition and we were looking for a nice place to eat other than seafood. Let me begin by saying this restaurant was not what we expected. I was expecting your typical Mexican restaurant decore but Luna has that bohemian vibe with all the lanterns hanging and wood paneling and great music playing in the background. Great Atmosphere. Now let's talk about food.. complimentary warm chips and salsa were delicious. We ordered the enchilada Suiza, carne asada and fish tacos! Good portions and they all came with sides. Located in a shopping center with ample parking is this nice lil gem Kinda modern Mexican decor with a neat light installation that gives me great ideas for my patio lighting! We don't dine in right now due to Covid so we stepped in and placed a to go order. Hubby opted for the shrimp quesadilla with a side of mango salsa and I opted for el Pastor tacos! I had a side of black beans hubby had rice. My tacos were flavorful with a really tasty pineapple salsa - they were a lil skimpy with the salsa so I'd suggest asking for an additional side of it. Hubby said quesadillas were "pretty good" but not extraordinary! Their chips and salsa come with your order - the chip were fresh very lightly salted which I prefer even if they need salt at all and they give you both a green and red salsa both mild and both tasty! The price was my only issue while I liked what I ordered I'm not sure it was worth $15 when I've had just as good if not better from a local taco truck back home! The real star though was their tres leches cakes NOW THAT WAS FIVE STARS! a dense almost cornbreadish sweet but not too much cake soaked in the three diff milks laced with caramel and fresh strawberries and mango with just the right amount of sweet cream - YUMMAGE on a plate! Went here with family while at Myrtle Beach. We had been hoping to visit Murrell's Inlet but sadly all the restaurants were an hour plus wait. Super glad we didn't wait and found this gem as well. It's not your standard El Rodeo with a huge menu and too many choices. This place focuses on smaller menu made well. From the chips and salsa to our meals, everything was fantastic! I had Shrimp Tacos that we're the best I've had in a long time. Everything was well seasoned, as advertised on the menu, and our server was very knowledgeable and eager to share his favorites. I wish I remembered his name, because he was absolutely wonderful. It was refreshing to have great service like that again!!!! Pina Coladas and Margaritas were great. Salsa Trio came out with chips - mild, medium, and verde. We will 100% come back here when we visit Myrtle again. Decor was great (I loved the hanging baskets) and restaurant very clean. read more

After being cooped up in our home for more months that I care to think about we decided to head south for a vacation. It also coincided with my wife's and my birthday. To celebrate we decided to go Mexican. It is usually a safe bet for gluten free diets since so much is corn based versus flour based. Being in the south finding anything that isn't batter fried in flour is a little more difficult. And even Mexican food seems to have more flour tortillas than corn tortillas in the south. So after doing some research we found Luna to be the most authentic. Once we got there, we loved the place. The decore was very nice and we loved the baskets converted to lamp shades. I really wanted shrimp tacos or enchiladas. However, they only had fish tacos and no seafood enchiladas. They did have a shrimp chimichanga but that was in a flour tortilla. So I finally settled for the shrimp fajita. The guacamole was very good as was the plantains. The fajita was very good but way more onions and green peppers than anyone would ever eat. The server also worked with us on our special request when it came to the margaritas. As far as I can tell this is the best and most authentic in as they say the low county. read more

Understaffed... they appear to not have enough people to handle their business properly. Our waiter appeared maybe five minutes after we were seated. He brought us waters. Took an order for one mixed drink which was delivered about ten minutes later. He mentioned that he had a table to take care of. Our meal order was taken when he got back. We got our food 45 minutes afterwards. My tacos were missing. The folks who brought the food out were informed of that. Ten minutes later the water reappeared and marched off to find my tacos. He returned as most or my family was finishing their food. I ate as they watched. Some folks had to leave since their small kids were restless. Three of the eight were left when we asked someone to find our waiter. This would be a one star rating but the food was OK, so two stars. I've been excited to try this place for some time now. Finally we decided to give a try to lunch. The service was good. We got chips with 3 salsas and were brought a hot sauce too upon request. None of the salsas blew my mind. The verde was my favorite but they were all a little bland. The two red salsas tasted like straight tomato sauce. The added hot sauce helped. We all ordered off of the lunch menu. I got the carne asada. It was tasty but very fatty. The rest of the food my family got was decent but again, not great. And for lunch we spent over $80 before tip. I know prices are high lately but that just blew my mind. Especially when not too long ago, 7 of us ate at Los Cabos and each had a couple of drinks and a very delicious lunch and the total bill was a little over $70 before tip. I am glad I tried it. The server was nice and the ambiance was nice. But I won't be back. read more

A more modern approach to a simple cuisine. A very nice establishment. The bar and dining area were very nice and the bathroom was clean. Where this places lacks is in the food and pricing. Smaller portions for considerably high prices. Mexican cuisine is know for being relatively inexpensive. But, this place is extremely far off in that respect. If I'm going to pay $20 for carnitas, they'd better be the best damn carnitas I've ever had and the portions should match. But they weren't. They were rather dry actually. I wound up dumping salsa verde all over them so they'd have some moisture about them. Nothing about my dish attracted me back at the steep price point. Other members of my party had similar experiences with their food. I am unable to speak for the quality of service because they were understaffed. So our service understandably reflected that. This particular area is saturated with excellent food. I'm afraid some establishments get over hyped because of this. read more

The mole Verde made with poblanos on the Salmon dish was exceptional! I practically licked the plate! The tortillas were thin, light and crispy and served with 3 great sauces.
