When I followed up with her, the only response I received was that she was "busy," with still no attempt to provide the information or reschedule in a meaningful way. In an industry where responsiveness and basic communication are the bare minimum, this level of disregard is unacceptable. Mediocre at best, harmful at worst…read more I used Unifi Group and Jason Cheng to purchase three properties and sell two. I've also obtained multiple home loans through Unifi. So I'm very well qualified to give this review. I will never do business with this company again. Up until my last interaction with Unifi, there was nothing particularly good or bad about the service I received. For the most part, real estate agents are fungible, overpaid form fillers. This is especially true now that there is Redfin and Zillow that provide all the information you need. I got a discount from Unifi, which made me feel like was getting a good deal. But that wasn't actually the case because the entire real estate industry had been enriching itself through unlawful anticompetitive behavior that inflated commissions. (See https://www.realestatecommissionlitigation.com). I'm pretty sure I ended up overpaying Unifi even though I was led to believe I was getting a good deal. Mediocre at best. Things took a turn for the worse during my last interaction with Unifi. At the time, I was going through a contentious divorce and was in the process of dividing assets with my ex. Both of us had submitted separate loan applications to Unifi related to this process. Jason knew the situation and that we were in litigating a number of issues. Despite knowing this, he disclosed my credit score to my ex-wife in an email. I was stunned that he would disclose this private and sensitive information to an adverse third party. This conduct is likely a violation of federal and state credit reporting and privacy laws. But even if the disclosure was not unlawful, it was a display of extremely poor judgment. A credit score is the type of private and sensitive information that can be used against someone, especially in divorce and custody proceedings. The way he casually dropped my private information into an email suggests to me that he has no clue about this. He should have known better, but this wasn't even on his radar. As a loan officer and real estate agent, Jason had access to a lot of my private information. I wouldn't be surprised if he improperly disclosed other information about me. I also wonder whether the information he collects from his clients is adequately protected. This experience really soured me on Unifi. I will never again trust my private information to people and a company that don't have a clue.

So much so, that I've recommended Unifi to over half a dozen friends and colleagues over the years who have also ended up working with them. Recently a close friend from college even used Unifi for refinancing his single family home down in Pasadena when he saw Unifi's rates handily beat other quotes he found elsewhere. Unifi is made up of extremely responsive, helpful, and honest people that work hard to help you through each step of the process as well as get you the lowest rates out there (they've consistently beat other rates I found when mortgage shopping). I recently (Dec 2021) refinanced my condo in Oakland and Jason moved extremely quickly to lock in a phenomenal 2.25% rate during a very brief dip in rates due to fears over the Omicron Covid surge. Furthermore, the refinancing process was very quick. I was fortunate enough to be able to provide the necessary docs quickly, and thanks to Jason's super quick work, just signed the final refi documents today after less than a month from start to finish! Definitely recommend trying Unifi if you're looking for either a new purchase or refi mortgage! BTW - one tip for providing docs quickly and hassle free is to use the scan/sign document feature on your phone (e.g. iphone instructions: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210336 however android phones should have similar support). Similarly, use electronic documents whenever possible (e.g. online downloads of bank statements etc.) so as to minimize the need for physically printing/signing/scanning docs back and forth as well as having an electronic record of everything later on. Also note that pdf documents support free electronic signature as well (just google for quick instructions)
