    Reuben is the bomb diggity

Stopped here on a road trip from Florida to Houston with wife and two small kids. This place hit the spot!! The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone. I saw that Reuben sandwich and decided to try it and it was delicious!! Fresh and stacked! My wife had the baked potato bar and she said it was on point as well. My kids went to town on the fruit, chicken , fries, chips, muffins and free ice cream swirls! The staff was nice to us even though my kids were running around like banshees and making a mess. We kept trying to clean up after them and the staff said it's okay don't worry we got it. They even made conversation with my 3 year old daughter who was trying to talk to them while they were working. The place is spacious and clean. The food was fresh and I could not even finish the Reuben is was so big. I got a to go box and destroyed the rest of the sandwich when I got home to Houston. Good family spot we will be stopping here on our road trips south fo sho.

Well tonight we decided to try something a little different. We decided on Jasons Deli located on Gateway Street in Beaumont Texas. The place is very nice and they're were quite a few people dining. The staff was courteous and friendly. Greeting every customer that came in. Nice to see employees that really enjoy there job. I decided to get a new sandwich called. "The Carmela" which consisted of three meats. Ham, salami, pepperoni melted provolone cheese, spicy piquillo pepper relish on toasted sour dough bread toasted and my fiance ordered the Deli Cowboy which consisted of 1/2 pound pit smoked brisket, cheddar, red onions, barbecue sauce toasted on New Orleans French Bread. Both sandwiches were served with potato chips. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious. You have a choice of a half or whole sandwich. There was a huge salad bar, a large variety of beverages and they even had ice cream for desert. My first experience st Jason's Deli wonderful. If you're visiting Beaumont stop in to Jason's Deli.

    Bigger better blt

Curbside takeout the bigger better blt. These are usually served cut in half and/or with a toothpick holding everything in place but today I opened up the carryout container to find this... no toothpick, sandwich looked thrown together, avocado nasty appearance and tasted spoiled. Instead of mayo being spread on bread it was smeared on top slice corner. Not warm and fresh but everything was cold, the egg, the bacon it wasn't frozen but cold. Maybe just an off day for this location or poor training. Unfortunately it isn't a cheap sandwich at $10 before taxes and tip... picture added with review.

Original location still going strong since 1976. I like going to Jason's Deli when I'm in a mood for a salad, their salad bar offers a variety of items - from the regular toppings and dressings to hummus, cold pasta dishes, and even mini gingerbread muffins. If you're not in the mood for the salad you can always order their "Manager's Special" which allows you to pick half of any sandwich and your choice of any cup of soup, or fruit. Or, you can always go the traditional way and just order whatever you'd like. They also have delicious desserts that sometimes vary, depending on the season, but you can always count on cheesecake. As well as, prepackaged items that can be found at the entrance. The restaurant seems somewhat small from outside but offers plenty of room once inside. The only downside about this Jason's Deli is their location. Yes, this is the original location, that's awesome, but The Gateway Plaza lot (where it is located) is in horrible condition and if not careful it can do some damage to your car so, drive carefully and try to avoid the potholes if possible.

Amilio's Southwest something or other. Part 1. Meh

Wife digs the Manager Special Sammie and Soup combo. I'm partial to the muffuletta. I am, on occasion open to something different. Enter the amilio's chicken southwest something or other. A picture is included. The list of ingredient was impressive. Pico, jicama slaw, guacamole, cheddar and a black bean paste. My tastebuds couldn't determine where the flavor bus was heading. Chicken looked like it was char-grilled. Wife said chipotle but, all I could identify was a dry chicken that was freezer burnt. Black bean smudge was black bean bland. Needed an identity. Guacamole was good. Standard. Pico was MIA. No overt spice, citrus or cilantro. Melted cheddar cheese on top. Sitting on a ciabatta style roll. Nice texture. The sandwich looks as though it was missing a flour tortilla so to be consumed as a wrap. I think The muffuletta is the best choice.

As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

We hadn't been in a while because about 8 mths back we didn't have a good experience the eating are and the food wasn't good. My dad love the chicken salad so when Im in town I always go by for that and mom sandwich a couple times a week and I just decided one day to pass because it just wasn't good so to go by today around lunch and actually sit down in a nice clean store that felt warm and inviting from the moment we walked in the Cashier and a Manager both greeted us and asked how our day was going and even if we had been there before or if they could provide some suggestions from the menu. I was like oh yes that be great and those two ladies wish I would've gotten their names but it was around 11:10 and not only was the food delicious but the presentation of the sandwich and the freshness of the veggies on the sandwiches were so delicious we ordered one to go lol and the tea was as we remembered delicious ! I enjoyed the fact that this store definitely had a different vibe a good vibe that was reflected in the servers that as I saw the Manager walking around to tables talking with the guest and asking how their meal was I could tell the workers were reflecting off their managers actions and work ethic they were all very professional and made not just us but everyone we saw come in and was already there feel important and welcome and the food delicious ! like I said we have added yall back onto our list and at the took we will be back weekly again ! wat to go Team Dowlen McAllistwe Thanks Thomas & Laura

We had a gyro sandwich, a Greek gyro sandwich, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, a Greek salad, three flavors of baklava and an American (ham and turkey) . Everything was tasty but the pickles in the Greek gyro were a nice surprise. It really gave it a pop. My dad said his American was "really good" which is the highest unsolicited praise he gives. The hummus was ok. The grape leaves good. The baklava was not overly sweet, which I think is always the downfall of this dessert although the chocolate baklava was surprisingly rich. The little market in the store has a great selection of teas, spices, desserts, cheeses, meats, olive oils, drinks, and international staples. Oh, and RV parts. There is an RV park in the back apparently. In addition to the food I wound up walking out with spices, teas, snacks, cookies, and more tea. If I had a way to keep the cheeses cold I would have bought a bunch of cheese. Big selection of cheeses. So, if you are staying the night in Beaumont, visiting the awesome wetlands to do some birdwatching just down the road, or you live nearly, stop in. And yeah, there is some religious stuff on the walls and the tables (giant Jesus family tree anyone?) no one tried to convert me. ;) They seem like a nice family and I'm a full-on atheist. To each his own, I'm all about the food!
