Steak and mushroom sandwich and Mac and cheese with lemonade. Complete with TWO napkins and a loose fork.
    Neal M.

Man oh man. I remember when McAllister's was good. Sadly that was about fifteen years ago. I can't even recall the last time I've had their food. Well, tonight I have them a chance and well, it's making me wonder if the Sex Pistols are the new owners because I was cheated. $12, roughly for a steak sandwich on a small roll and a side of Mac and cheese that want even half of the container it came in. Using a delivery service meant I spent $20 on a sandwich, a side of Mac and cheese and a lemonade. Oh yeah, shout out to the kind soul that felt two napkins was an adequate amount. This was decent but definitely not worth the money spent.

Tiny itsy bitsy amount of sauce on spagetti even when I paid for extra. Frozen meals have 3x their sauce and way less expensive.

It was DE-LISH-OUS!! Our meal began with the Greek-Style Loaded Hummus -- an appetizer that's as beautiful to look at as it is to taste. The house-made hummus was smooth, creamy, and seasoned perfectly with traditional Greek spices. Nestled in the middle were fresh grape tomatoes, Kalamata olives, cucumbers, red onions, and crumbled feta. A must-try dish that's bursting with authentic Mediterranean flavor! For my entrée, I ordered the Roasted Branzino Fish (Sea Bass) -- a mild, white fish with delicate, flaky flesh and a clean, fresh taste. I had mine grilled, and it was absolutely incredible! It was beautifully paired with asparagus, red peppers, broccoli, and zucchini, along with a crisp, classic Greek salad . Every bite was as delicious as the one before. If you're craving a meal that's fresh, healthy, and budget-friendly -- all while packed with flavor -- run, don't walk, to Elsa's Greek Grill! They also have a fantastic selection of Greek sandwiches, pizzas, and so much more. Tell them Best Bites sent you!

As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.

Although the reviews were mixed, the majority were positive, and seeing that they offered pho, we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, the host was warm and welcoming. The restaurant itself features pleasant décor and a comfortable atmosphere. There were a few families dining at the time, which created a relaxed and inviting environment. The host took our drink order promptly and brought the beverages out before our server came to take our food order. We ordered the special vermicelli plate, fresh spring rolls, and the ribeye pho. All of the dishes arrived at the same time. The vermicelli bowl, unfortunately, was not as flavorful as we had hoped; the sauce could have benefited from a bit more depth and seasoning. The pho was satisfactory, though we may simply be accustomed to a more robust, authentic flavor profile. During the meal, our server checked on us several times. We did need to mention an issue with the shrimp in the vermicelli plate, and he handled it professionally by removing the item from our bill, which we appreciated. The service overall was attentive and courteous. It's possible that because we visited closer to closing time, the broth and proteins may not have been at their peak freshness. Despite our mixed feelings about the food, the quality of service and welcoming atmosphere left a positive impression. We would consider returning, hopeful for a stronger culinary experience next time. So we can revise our review.

From the moment I walked in, the service was outstanding. Ordering was quick and easy, and I really appreciate that they're happy to accommodate dietary needs. I can't resist falafels, so I started with their Falafel Appetizer--four perfectly cooked falafels served with a small salad for just $8.00. If you've never had falafels, they're savory, nutty, herb-filled fritters made from ground chickpeas. These were crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, and bursting with flavors of garlic, cumin, coriander, and fresh herbs. Simply delicious! For my entrée, I ordered the Spanakopita Plate. Flaky layers of golden phyllo dough wrapped around a flavorful blend of freshly chopped spinach and creamy feta cheese made every bite absolutely sumptuous.
