Everybody was nice and helpful, but I asked about the foggyness in my left eye during my exam. I was referred to an opthalmologist for cataract surgery. OK. They made an appt for me (it was months later as they were booked solid) I went through another eye exam and was told that since they could correct my vision 100% through glasses, I was not qualified because insurance wouldn't cover surgery. OK. As I was leaving, I had to pay my copay (not cheap!), and it was submitted for insurance. And guess what? Insurance didn't cover the opthalmologist visit because it was a non-referred specialist. Um yeah - Jasper Eye Associates made the appt....wouldn't that be a referral? Sigh. This appears to be the only eye game in town and I still can't see. read more

Went to get contacts and they want to charge $90 to fit your contacts WTF!! This place is money grubbing and I will not be back nor recommend. When U told the doctor that im not spending 90 bucks to put contacts in for me, she said that she would nit let me leave with the medical devices without putting them in there. So i asked for a copy of my script so I could go somewhere else after she rudely stomped off, i could hear her and her asst mary jo Laughing in the back room. Very unprofessional ladies! read more

Dr James passed away a while back, I miss him terribly it seems he was the only Dr. that could treat my complicated vision. I was asked to take my business somewhere else because the frames were warped and didn't sit right on my eyes leaving me at a place where my vision was not right. The new Dr in the practice said she had no idea what was happening with my vision. So now I am looking for a new Dr. since the practice couldn't make 350.00 on a new pair of glasses, I asked that my lenses be ordered and put in my old frame that I purchased at Wal Mart, this would have been the 3rd time doing this, the technician hung the phon up on me, she sure showed me. I have been going to this place a few times these past 2 years to get some exams done (glasses and contacts included). Unlike some other places, i did not leave feeling like they were trying to rip me off or overcharge me. The customer service was wonderful. They did not once make me feel uncomfortable or upset. In some other places, workers can be dismissive, condescending, or easily annoyed when you have questions or are hesitant regarding some services. I never had that issue at this location. I usually get assistance from Emily (the one with the straight blonde hair). She is the nicest. She definitely helps give a good opinion of the office. Sometimes, the second Emily (with curly brown hair) has helped me as well. She is just as patient and welcoming. It makes a huge difference when it comes to choosing a doctor. The doctor could be the most talented one in the area, but if the staff does not treat you well, then I'd rather not spend my money there. I definitely recommend this doctor office. This place is rude and all about money. It's a joke. Don't go here. They only do glasses and contacts and their prices are OUTRAGEOUS. They don't have an ophthalmologist that can check for eye diseases either. read more

I only wanted an examination to get a prescription. Neither my insurance or Medicare pays for that but the receptionist demanded that I give her my Medicare card "because the 'doctor'" said so. After going back and forth with her I had to finally just tell her "I don't have one." Guess what? Just because you're on Medicare doesn't mean you have to give that card out to everybody and their brother. She was a total b-word, nasty throughout the whole time I was there. Second time to use Jasper Eye Associates. Clean facility, the staff is nice and helpful. Dr Darby is awesome. I felt like I got a good exam. I ordered contacts, glasses, and prescription sunglasses. Fair and reasonable prices. Will definitely use them again. read more

I interacted with several people during my visit and everyone was really nice, knowledgeable, and very clear about what they were doing and about my results. The whole process (the exam, picking out/ordering my glasses) was very easy. The office is bright and clean, and they have modern equipment (I did the opto-map retinal imaging instead of getting dialated - it was way faster and I got to see a clear picture of the inside of my eye, pretty cool). I moved out of the Jasper area a few months back. However, the excellent care I have received at Jasper Eye Associates insures that I will drive the additional 50 miles to receive the great eye care I have received for the past 10 years. What a great staff! My insurance covers "some" of the expense for visits and glasses. I could go where I have more coverage with my insurance but I choose Dr. James and his staff at Jasper eye clinic. My daughter has ADHD. Every time she goes in, she is greeted with hugs and kindness. Dr. James has chosen a great staff to support him and he is a wonderful Dr. with great customer service skills as well. He spent at least 10 minutes just chatting about my career and the companies I worked and work for. My daughter loves this place and WE ALL know what it's like taling a child to a Dr. visit... My husband had an ulcer in his eye over a year ago. Just so happens we were getting married THAT week at the beach. Dr. James had him come back before we left and EVEN had his staff find a location at Myrtle Beach for him to be re-evaluated to make sure his eye was ok. My Aunt ironically had the same issue a few months ago...ulcer in her eye and we referred her to Dr. James. He took good care of her and made sure to get her in even though they were booked! I am glad my insurance pays a portion but I have told many and I mean what I say...if I had to pay full price. ..I would still go there. It's the customer service that keeps me coming back. read more
