I went in for a drink and ordered one off of the menu that is posted with prices. I got charged more, waited 10 minutes for my drink, had other peoples drinks prepared before mine who came after me in line, but finally left with a delicious drink. I like supporting local businesses but this place I won't go to again. read more

Let's just start o and say the coffee is amazing but I don't understand why the employees have no personality. No one can say hello or thank you. I got a "what's up" when I approached the counter. I overheard the woman behind the counter tell a customer that she has to work more because she is having issues with employees. So either she is the owner or manager. In any case I can see why the employees are the way they are! Customer service starts at the top and employees follow suit. Customer Service skills need work. Hint hint read more

This place has absolutely horrible customer service. I've worked in customer service for 17 years; I'm currently a director in the retail sector and I would never allow my employees to act like the ones here. I was working in the area on business and had a long drive so I stopped in to grab some coffee with a colleague before hitting the road. They were about 6 minutes from closing and the guy working (septum piercing) looked up and me like "are you serious?" He puts the money together saying, "oookayyy.. what can I get for you!?" I ignored the tone of his voice and how disappointed he seemed we interrupted him and ordered an americano. He starred at his coworker working and she somewhat shook her head. He turns to me after about 7 awkward seconds and says, "yeah... we don't have an espresso machine." I ignore the fact I'm now being lied too because they simply don't want to take the time to clean the machine up. He pours me a regular drip coffee and we leave. The next day I came back and purposely went with 2 other colleagues. We ordered multiple americanos. What do you know? We got them! They must have bought an espresso machine overnight! In addition, we asked for half and half and they acted like we were ruining their day. My colleague pointed out- "wow, did you see the way he looked at you as you poured the half and half!?" The WORST customer service experience I've had in a really long time. The leadership/ownership should be ashamed because that behavior is what YOU allow. Horrible. read more

The coffee is pretty lackluster, but the seating outside is nice for things like grading. There is a Verve across the street near the climbing gym where the coffee is excellent. Not a bad place to grab a bagel and coffee if you are not in a picky mood. read more

So I went to Java Junction this morning after going to Petsmart to do some shopping... I've been to this location before, and it was alright (not great) but I was craving some A.M. coffee. It was hotter than expected out so I decided to make it an iced vanilla latte. I got my drink quickly, but blech!!! It was really awful. Like sugar water. Something just ain't right when the latte has zero coffee taste. When I mentioned to the barista that the latte was too sweet for me, she didn't seem happy to help... she quickly replied, "I'll just add more milk, then." When she gave me my drink back, she said, "Next time, ask for half the amount of the flavoring" when really, if she reduced the amount of flavoring, she'd be making a better drink-- AND, saving some syrup. I won't be going back there. Too many options in Santa Cruz for great coffee (e.g., The Abbey, Cafe Delmarette, Coffeetopia and even Santa Cruz Coffee Roasters...). read more

I dislike this place. I use to go here all the time and loved it. It was warm so I ordered an iced green tea. You'd thought I was asking for a really complex drink. The server said, "um I don't know how to make that. Can I just give ii a hot tea?" He handed me the hot tea and then I asked for a cup of ice and poured my hot tea into the cup of ice which melted immediately. Dislike. read more

What a great coffee shop! The coffee is delicious, the baristas are cute and friendly, and it's a relatively quiet place to come and study if you can put up with the excellent music (or just put in headphones.) Highly recommended! read more

The barista was SO rude! I was waiting for the guy behind the counter to finish whatever it was he was doing so that I could get two coffees. He made eye contact with me and saw that I was there. It wasn't even busy at all. Then, this tall skinny guy walked in and wants to order coffee. The barista looked up and this guy jumps in front of me and says "I just want a coffee." I jumped up there and said "I just want 2 coffees!" The barista served the guy his coffee and ignored me. I felt invisible! I finally got served and the coffee wasn't even good. Whoever goes there, do me a favor and take their precious bathroom key and LOCK IT IN THE BATHROOM please. Feel free to swirl it in the toilet first. My daughter wrote this: I had had a not-so-great day, and, knowing a cup of chai tea would greatly improve my mood, I came here. I ordered with my mom, she had an iced coffee and I had a chai tea, (obviously). The woman behind the counter payed very little attention to making our drinks, staring out the window instead of focusing on the task at hand. She mumbled my name, and gave us our drinks. And my chai tea? It was scalding hot. That thing could have given someone third degree burns. I put the lid on, but because she had not filled it to the adequate amount, I tipped the cup back too far and a waterfall of fiery, bad-tasting, boiling water was shoved into my mouth. I went back in, to ask if I could maybe have some ice in it to cool it down. We told the server we both burned our mouths on the drink. She didn't apologize or make any attempt to care. This did nothing to cool the drink down The ice quickly melted, and I now had a cup of hot chai water on my hands. I ended up having to throw the drink away. You'd have to put that thing in the arctic for a few years to cool it, and by then it still might be too hot. This was yesterday. I could not eat anything citrus-y today, or it would anger my newly-maimed tongue. The cookie I ordered, on the other hand, was great, but they had obviously not made that themselves. They aren't competent enough. Never going back. read more
