I've been coming to lulu's in Midtown for the past two weeks every morning. And I've been really happy every time. I get the same drink every time I go, which is a 12 ounce iced honey latte with a double shot. The staff there are always very sweet and obviously very busy with the morning rush but they always do an amazing job. was looking for a quick caffeine boost in the morning non chain like. I saw this in front of a strip mall and liked the uniqueness of it. It looked a little charming Drive thru, but I opted for the walk up option. I had been greeted by the Baristas and ordered an Americano and a Vanilla Latte hot. My Lulu's addiction has begun. I got a cool cat through the drive through. It was so scrumptious, caffeinated chocolatey/creamy goodness over ice. It was truly a shame how fast I downed it. Drove my wife and kids to get some coffee to start our day we parked as the line was super long and walked up we were greeted by a female in purple glasses she said she would be right with us then went outside and asked the car what their order was the man who was making coffee looked at us and said I will be right with you Indian guy not Native American two cars drove up and he walked out and asked for their order I said to him you said you would be right with us and it was clear we have been waiting outside in the cold as cars drove up and you went to them first he said "don't start with me absolutely cars come first" someone make this crap make sense we are outside in the cold 3 cars that drove up after we have been waiting get helped first ??? I parked because they had a long line and I have a big truck that would make people navigating around me truck hard for them as we waited the cars that were already in line were done and took off so in reality we were clearly next! Super sweet spot in a convenient Santa Cruz location. I was actually meeting a friend for a hike and decided to grab a snack. I looked up Lulu's and knew this was the place. They have a good amount of choices and the service was excellent. The biscuit sandwich and good flavor and texture. It crumbled at the end, but that's a biscuit sometimes. The tea was yummy, nice and hot. I left it in the car until the hike was over, and when I came back it was like drinking a yummy room temperature mint tea. Just delicious! It's mainly a drive thru. They're understaffed in the morning, so there is a huge line and they're rushing to get things done, not focusing on making a good cup of coffee. Kind of a bummer because the Lulu's elsewhere in town (Westside & Downtown) are better. read more

This is really a drive up café maybe put in place of one of those old photo kiosks. There is outdoor seating but in rainy weather, it's not an option. It's in the parking lot where there's a While Foods and Tesla charging. The Tesla folks seem to be a revenue stream. The chorizo burritos and the bacon sandwich was reportedly pretty good. Nice helpful staff. The place had a line at Drive thru at 2:15pm so it seems like the locals like it too. The Veggie Burrito is GREAT, comes in Tomato wrap tortilla. It is filling and doesn't leave ya wanting more. The Bacon breaky biscuit is basically the most legit flavors, both savory and sweet. Wish it was a bit bigger, but I sometimes buy two if I'm super duper hungry. I also might side this with one of their muffins that are also equally delicious. The Chai is tasty, both iced and hot. Probably the Lulu's location that I frequent the most (although I have had good luck with all 4 locations.) The drive through is awesome. Employees are always friendly even when slammed with long lines. Their lavender maple scones are amazing, and I am obsessed with their mochas. Just make sure to ask for whipped cream if it you like them to taste a little richer. Only bummer is they don't carry as many syrup flavors as they used to. read more

We're from Stockton and took a day trip to Santa Cruz for a beach day. After a long day our Tesla prompted us to stop at the Whole Foods Market parking lot to charge. We went inside Whole Foods to get some yummy sandwiches. After waiting several minutes the deli lady came to rudely tell us she can't help us because she's busy. Then she went to continue her chat. We left, saw a cute little coffee shop and was hoping to get something yummy there. We stopped and had a pleasant experience! We got a mocha and a hot chocolate. Delicious pastries! However VERY disappointed by the Chai tea with half and half I ordered from the midtown drive thru. It tasted like herbal water and was not even hot. Then the same day my mother brought me a Chai with almond milk from the west side location and it had even less flavor! She agreed it was horrible. I've gone to Lulus downtown and Coffee Cat when it was open and enjoyed a wonderful Chai many times. I spoke about these chai fails on instagram and I am sad to say how many sc locals stated they have had similar complaints with many beverages at Lulus. This is my faaaaaavorite drive throguh coffee. Not only is it near by, the customer service is spectacular, and the team is so efficient. I also noticed the same efficiency at the Lulus in the courthouse and the west side drive throguh! It's always a pleasure. Much more personable than the chains, which just aren't my preference really. I rather support small and local. I wish there were another drive throguh location on the east side, that would totally be the icing on the cake. My favorite is their syrups. Whether sugar free or not, they taste delicious. It's called something like amoretti, and it is literally soooo good. Especially if you are a sugar free person on the weekdays, hah. My order is: Large coconut cream (iced) latte, (oat milk), with either sf vanilla (weekdays) ;), or the marshmallow is seriously delicious. If neither are available I opt for a coconut or the next gourmand flavoring. Now the coconut cream is spectacular, hot or cold. They have the ability to do a keto coffee as well! I just really love there aesthetic of Lulus, I love the drink menu, the thoughtfulness of their ingredients. The coffee is not pretentious, nor without thoughtfulness. Everytime I go here, (it's been years since the last time), I think to myself, why did I try this again? I watched him make my regular coffee with an add shot, and half and half. He added the shot, as well as some hot water. Why add hot water? All I can think of is to stretch the coffee out? The coffee itself just tasted lousy. My partner ordered a Latte. She hated it too. I have been ordering from Lulu Carpenter's coffee for years. I use their drive thru every morning going to work and my partner and I order their delivery menu on the weekends. In over five plus years of being customers, we have had to ask for a refund or replacement twice. This last one was today. We got our drinks order wrong and they only filled them up 2/3 the way. Nothing newsworthy here, yet. I notify the business and it's the business owner. He says they will refund. Then I get it, a text he meant to send to his team stating: "Reject [our street address] orders moving forward. I don't like dealing with them. We can't make money in those guys." Then blocks me. Then unblocks and the message is "sent as text message".... This is incredibly unprofessional and unwarranted. I think others should know how they are running their "business" I have given probably hundreds maybe a thousand of dollars over five plus years and my money still isn't good enough for them.... read more

Apparently this establishment doesn't believe in serving people with medical disabilities. They don't abide by federal law which makes it illegal to discriminate against people with medical disabilities. I directly asked "so you don't serve people with medical conditions?" And the gal at the drive through window said "no, we don't." Their coffee isn't that good and frankly, their service is inhumane... and illegal. A cute name that puts me in mind of Manhattan... but it's little ol' Santa Cruz! Very cute little drive-thru that has walk-up window service. I had walked this Saturday morning, from my hotel to the Buttery but didn't feel like dealing with the crowds there. There was just one person in line when I got to Lulu's, whom I'm not altogether convinced even exists as there were just 2 employees there at the time. One a pretty blond who was receiving tutelage from the other, a tall handsome brunette. I can imagine he may have been nicknamed Lulu, but you can never be sure. I ordered off of their posted menu which had been updated with a paper flyer. But when I asked for the tomato & chive egg sandwich I was told all they had was an offering of burritos. I got the sausage burrito. I love a breakfast burrito that has beans in it but I much prefer whole beans over refried. The burrito was tasty but was so wet inside that it fell apart halfway through eating it. That wouldn't have been so bad if they had given me a napkin or 2 or even made them freely available on the patio. Napkins; A Staple of Customer Service. All things considered, I think 3 stars is a fair award. I usually don't bother with giving anything but a pass (5 stars) or a fail (1 star). I've heard awful things about management from former employees, my delivery orders are usually missing something, and every time I order a latte my cup is half empty. Update on previous review.... Still love the drinks however their prices have practically doubled. They have posted a letter over their entire drive Thru menu apologizing for the necessary increase in prices....yadda yadda yadda....but NO prices are listed (as of 4/28/17, so you have to ask what everything costs. This goody ( an ice Diablo, pictured in previous review as a hot drink) - ok, small size is a Whopping $5.75. I almost didn't't order it, but was there- had it on my mind, and was very very thirsty. This will be my last stop here for Quite A While!! I think the coffee here is decent but the service is awful. Most of the employees who work here are very pleasant but every time that I have had to interact with one of the only guys who works here, he is rude for no reason. He actually slammed the sliding glass door on me haha like what? Who does that. It's almost like he wants the drive through cafe to be some kind of high drama scenario.
