They claimed to be participating in the New Years Eve bar crawl. My girlfriend and I waited 50 minutes in line for them to not accept our wristbands and demanding a $50 cover charge per person even though we had been in line well before 10. We respectfully asked for them to honor the wristbands, and the bouncer told us he hoped he ruined our New Years as well as other expletives which made my girl cry. He said I could talk to the manager. When I asked for the managers number, the bouncer shoved me instead completely unprompted and tried taunting looking for a fight. I let it go as he completely escalated the situation for no reason. Bouncers clearly bullies on a power trip. I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this place at all times but especially during any "events" they claim to be part of. read more

I went, ready to meet friends. I waited online with everyone else on a Saturday. I got to the front of the line, paid $10 per person to a random Venmo to get a stamp. The bouncer that took my money said now that I paid, I can "cut" the line to come back in. I left to go to the inside part of the bar and that blunder said I had to "wait" again even though the other bouncer said I didn't need to wait. I paid $10 for false advertisement. My husband and I came in for a beer and had the most wonderful experience on Sunday. After finding out me and the bartender on Sunday had the same name we had a great chat Sunday and a great beer. She made us feel seen and appreciated and it could not have been a better experience! We will definitely be coming back on Sunday's for her. Went out for a friends birthday. The bouncer said there was a $5 cover charge so we paid and got a stamp. Not sure for what since there wasn't a dj or anything special. The place was hot and musty. Noticed they had an outdoor area on the side and asked the bouncer how to get there. He said there was a separate entrance so we go to wait in line for 10minutes. Once we get to the front we show our stamps but they claim it's another $5 cover charge even though we already paid and we're stamped. The overhang literally says Jaxson so it's the same damn place so it makes no sense to pay again, let alone pay in the first place for a basic bar. We explain we already paid, but they claim it's different. We get out of line and wait outside of the main entrance for our friends. While waiting we hear the bouncers tell others groups that it's a $10 cover charge to get into the basic bar and when they ask about the outdoor they say it's another $5 as well. Overall sounded pretty shady. Didn't even order drinks because inside was so sweaty and hot and we didn't want to spend more money on a shitty place. The instructor was extremely rude, passive aggressive, and condescending-- being sure to let us know about her 7 years of line dancing experience. Worst experience with a bouncer ever. I would give zero stars if I could. I went to Jaxson's because the line to the next door bar was an hour wait. My friends and I stood in line. Upon arrival, the bouncers saw how big our group was and decided to take advantage of us and charge us a cover to get in. Meanwhile, they were letting other groups in free-of-charge. When I told the bouncer that this was unfair, he started to yell at me and deny that they were even doing this. He straight up attempted to gaslight me, telling me I was crazy and that they weren't doing this even though i had just seen it happen in front of me a couple of seconds ago. Two guys walked up, and the bouncer began to talk about me to them yelling "she's been drinking. She's on something". At this point, that was unnecessary. No need for insults when I simply pointed out an injustice. I was not intoxicated and was fully aware of my tone and the situation at hand. I told him "this is f*cked up", as he was blatantly insulting me to others. He then got up from this chair and came to my face and yelled "you think this is f*cked up? are you calling me f*cked up?". Mind you, I am a 5'3 small woman who no intentions of starting a fight. He was twice my size, yelling into my face for no reason. At no point was I aggressive or yelling. For him to attack me that aggressively was so unwarranted and unnecessary. His anger was scary, and I will never forget the look on his face when he did that. I was terrified. I don't know what kind of establishment allows bouncers to treat their customers like this, and I will never come back here again. My group of friends left, and they didn't get our business. I'm still appalled by the situation. In no world is this okay. Country bar in San Francisco?? Wow. California Country boys can really survive. The place has small dance floor and you can tell certain days it can definitely get crowded, but it is doable. This was my first time going. I wasn't sure what to expect. For all that have been to The Saddle Rack may have high expectations. However, country bar in SF may not be fair comparece to other locations. Overall, I was happy with the music. They evenly played country hits and modern pop music. Compared to other country spots, people weren't really line dancing or swing dancing. I'm sure some nights some people are, but at least not that night. So, it wouldn't be intimidating feeling if you don't know how to country dance. Many people mentioned issues with the staff. I personally had no issues with the staff. It did seem a little understaffed, but since it is the holidays I didn't think much of it. read more

I am not at all a country fan, but I can't discredit this place for that because it clearly markets itself as a country bar. I will discredit this bar for the behavior of one of its security staff. I was sitting at the bar waiting for my friend to finish using the bathroom when a man came up to me telling me I needed to dance with a guy who was standing alone on the dance floor. I was a little bit bothered, but politely said I was fine where I was. He then proceeded to grab me hand an insistently tell me to dance. I was by now not amused and told him to leave me alone. He then went to another girl at the bar and tried doing the same thing I went to talk to security to report the man to them, and low and behold this guy was the new security guard who had been getting a drink before his shift!! Updating my review to confirm this place is still terrible. A few weeks ago I was walking past this bar and the bouncer physically grabbed my arm asking if I wanted to come inside. I told him I wasn't interested (I had literally no intention of going in, I was on my way to dinner nearby with a friend) and he told me "I can let you two ladies in in front of this entire line, just come over here." Not only were the people in line offended, but I was extremely creeped out and scared by this behavior. This bouncer has worked here for years and is consistently rude to people. He charges whatever rate he wants for cover and constantly picks fights with patrons. I have seen him physically assault people on more than one occasion. Ok is not 100% country, and I did not see anyone with cowboy hats, or line dancing but it was way too country for California, no doubt! I have to say upfront I am not a fan of country music. But they throw some rock oldies in. The night I was there a friend was taking me bar hopping through the marina to places I've never been. This bar was crowded AF! But the wait to get drinks were minimal with three bartenders at the helm. All of them pros and on top of their shit! I met some really awesome people. I had never been here before so not sure if there was a inside bar area but only the outside is being used during covid. It is a little small. I wouldn't recommend coming with a huge group. The heaters weren't working the best and there was only one fire pit that could only be used by the group sitting next to it. Of our party of 4 one of them didn't get there drink for awhile so I had to go find our server. We order chips and guacamole. The guacamole was good but chips ehh. The music was fun and enjoyable, as I personally enjoy country music. I got their margarita which was decent. My friend got some drink with le croix. I have lived up the road from Jaxson for a couple of years and didn't really know much about this place. I often travel to Fremont (The Saddle Rack) or Sacramento (Stoney's Rockin Rodeo) to get my country music and line dancing fix because I could not find a place in San Francisco. A couple of my friends, from San Jose, came up to the city and we decided to try this place. Walking in the bouncer was nice and friendly. We got our drinks really quickly. The decor and ambiance of this bar was really nice. I liked all of the wood panels along the walls. The lessons were good and catered to more of a beginner crowd. Although the dance floor is small, there is space outside of the dance floor to dance. All the dancers were nice and a few were willing to help you if you don't know the dance. So with all of this in mind, I would have given this place 5 stars. The only thing holding me back was the DJ. He was the worst part of my experience. Most of the songs he played at the beginning of the night were songs from 10-15 years ago (which no one knew the dances to). He did play the occasional Top 40 song. They mentioned that there was a request board, but I don't think he EVER looked at it. I understand that DJs usually want to mix up the playlist so everyone gets a chance to dance to the songs they requested but he only played 1 song of the 3 we requested in the 3 hours we were there. What's the point of a request board if it is ignored and the people that ask in person are ignored. I think this place has the potential to be great and could be San Francisco's version of The Saddle Rack if they changed their DJ. I'm super disappointed. Not sure if I'll be able to convince my friends to come back and we have quite a few people who love to drink, line dance, and have fun. read more

Decor-This bar is amazing!! It was empty when I went, so I had time to take the tour.. the huge american flag, the distressed wood work, metal nuts on the iron sheets, they really put some time and $$ into this bar. Drinks- They have a great whisky list, which made my friend very happy. I believe my buddy said the bartender made the best Old Fashion he has ever had!! My rum and coke was also a perfect mix, no surprise with a veteran btender like Otto behind the bar, the drinks are always going to be top-notch. Worst bar I've been to. Right after walking in we go to the bar to get a drink. We ordered 3 vodka cranberries which were $8 each. The bartender Daniel told us $24 dollars. As we were deciding wether to pay cash or card he pushes away our cash and proceeds to try grabbing my card out of my hand, tugging on it. He gets very rude and impatient. I end up giving him my card and he charges me $32. When telling him he overcharged me he proceeds to wave me away and not listen to me. He did the exact same thing to my other friend in our group charging her $54 instead of $32 for 5 or 6 beers. We try to ask for management but no one is able to help. In the end we just leave. Never going back to this bar. And I am contesting this charge to my bank. If you like rude service and your money stolen go here. Otherwise, avoid this place. read more
