This is a FABulous, family-owned and operated bar that absolutely does take credit cards, despite many reviews (connected to prior owners perhaps) saying they don't. We were there for Thanksgiving and Sully was working non-stop behind the bar, his wife turned the pool table into a Thanksgiving day spread that could have competed with grandma's dinner! All were invited to a California-style holiday, where you could bring the family you chose to spend the day with, while making new friends if you were interested in doing that. No shopping, cooking or cleaning up. And amazingly they didn't even charge visitors for the meal! Everything was wonderful! Another guest brought an addictive, spicy, NOLA influenced oyster stuffing that we must come back for next year! OMG I don't know if there's any food normally, but we were very lucky to have discovered this bar, any day of the year! And with Sully and his wife's decades in this business, they've created a very friendly, but also extremely professional , local neighborhood bar. They've also lined the walls with great, music-themed photos and Bay Area concert posters that add to the vibe! And while their Irish coffee is as good as The Buena Vista, the price is much more palatable ! read more

Bartender, male, ~6ft, black uniform, ethnically black. The most rude bartender I have ever experienced in my life, rushed me to use the toilet, swore at me "I will fuck your shit up", very intimidating along with his pals who were drinking in the bar. I was gobsmacked at the treatment I experienced in this venue, I would absolutely advise any customer to tread carefully with that bartender, an absolute disgrace. Certainly should not be working in a customer facing role as such, purely antisocial. read more

This place is the perfect sports/dive/music chattin' bar. Cool Knick knacks and memorabilia line the walls and the patrons inside are so rich in knowledge of the area. They were so warm on arrival and the bartender on Monday afternoon/ early evenings was like having a badass uncle to shoot the sh*t with and talk about life, music, and anything you can think of. This is the perfect spot to stop into for a quick drink or multiple while catching up with friends or doing a little walking and shopping. Oh! And it's pupper friendly! I Love a good dive bar - and this one is located in the Marina - weird that it hasn't been pushed out yet. We came here on a Friday night just after work. Our bartender Peter was exactly what you want in a place like this. Just old School all the way - he stirs the martinis to order and serves 'em high and cold (I will say that he does give an extra "shaker leftovers/side car" to the regulars, so an aspiration for sure!) After a fabulous dinner nearby, my double dates (2 GFs) took me to the Marina at 10:00pm on a Saturday evening. GF1 is a regular. Locals are toed up on the bar, with generally F-Boys in the back playing pool. Jake and Miranda are the steady bartenders. We were on a wait list for the Delarosa Pizzeria and they told us to go across the street for a drink while we waited. Perfect suggestion. It seemed like all locals were in the bar all created by the bar tender. We sat in the front part of the bar which is a funky spot that is 5 inches higher than the rest of the floor. If I could leave less of a review I would. My aunt and I stopped in on a Monday night at first everything was good the people were chill all locals the bar tender was nice and having a few drinks with the locals. I paid for my aunt and I drinks it was a cash only bar but no problem because I had cash on me. We stayed for a bit and had a drink bought for us then we start to leave and the bar tender tells us I owe him $62 I said no I paid him & my total was $52 that extra drink was paid for and the man who bought it said yes Jake I got that beer & he said okay well you still owe me $52 we went back and fourth until the man who bought our drinks said he's had a few drinks ( the bar tender Jake ) so I used there cheep ATM to pull out cash and paid this man TWICE. Upon leaving someone said that's what you get for coming to a local bar. So I hope you enjoy my extra $52 and scamming people out of there money. Marina Lounge is less of a lounge and more of a divey sports bar. The bar's long with some TV's to watch the MLB post-season. The average age of the bar patrons are probably around 45-70.. Tons of grey hairs with at least half of them drinking Coors Light out of a bottle. There's only 4 beers on tap: Sierra, Fort Point, PBR and one more I can't remember at the moment. I had 4 beers which came out to around $24 including tip which is the right price for the Marina but expensive for a dive. - Cash only - Pool table, juke box, arcade games - Close to tons of good restaurants - Limited beer selection - Limited booze selection - Probably a place to bring friends or a date you don't like that much I'd say I would come back here but there's tons of other bars on Chestnut. I'll probably go to one of the other ones next time. read more

My cousin and I were lucky enough to randomly stumble on this place when we were umbrella-less and seeking shelter from the cold, peltering rain. Great little neighborhood spot right on Chestnut. Nothing fancy...just a low-key place where you can chill out, grab some Stella on tap & shoot pool @ $1/game...Nice. read more

From the looks of it you would think it's a chill dive bar with plenty of seats and a table near the window in the front. However, the bartenders are terrible - snobby and judgmental. I came with 2 other people on a Saturday night . The moment we entered the lady bartender asked for our ID's and stared at mine for the longest time. Lady, it's me. I was 16 when I took that picture... My boyfriend asked what beers they had on tap (I forgot what she said) but when he asked for Stella she gave him one that was already poured for the girls next to us (they ended up canceling the order). He stared at her and gave her a "where did this come from" look since he didn't know and she told him with an attitude "I JUST poured it. It's what you wanted." Okay.. I gave her the benefit of the doubt cause maybe she was having a rough night. BUT!! When my boyfriend pulled out his debit card she scoffed and said "cash only. You can use the ATM at the end." Did everything coming out of her mouth need have attitude with it He went to the Bank of America down the street and paid. I was people watching while he went to get cash and noticed the bartender would whisper to what seemed to be regulars at this bar (late 50s males) and they would stare at a specific group (mainly younger girls) then laugh with her. Kind of regret leaving her a tip for the service she gave us and for the potential shit talking she must've done to her customers. At least be discreet about it.. read more

Where has this place been all my life?! Actually...I walked by it for years but never actually went in until recently. Wish I could come here all the time! Warning for others, this is not your typical marina bar. It sounds like it would be this chic modern lounge-y place but it is not. If you like sports (particularly Giants/Red Sox) talking to 'regulars' and the Sully the older bartender, small low lit probably won't get a seat places, you should def check it out! Got some drinks with my Dad here after work on a Friday and being the talkative people we are, made a few friends and having some great laughs with Sully. The drinks are also not too expensive yet good. I got a few jack and cokes and my Dad had some Anchor Steams. I will def be back! read more
