    Magic School Busk

The events and shows here are spectacular. The Monday jam sessions bring out amazing local talent for a wonderful night of music and dancing; and anytime "The Magic School Busk" performs is always a treat and shouldn't be missed. It's certainly one of the best discoveries for me this year.

The live music here was great and made for a fun weekend night. There is a $20 minimum at the bar, so take that into account when ordering.

They have really bad service and i didnt like their attitude to costumers you guys have to love your job this bartender is not that nice one

This was one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had. My friends and I were simply sitting and talking among ourselves, not bothering anyone, yet the staff approached us and accused us of something we didn't do. They were extremely rude and refused to listen to our explanation. The way we were treated was completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

The shaker was there and he didn't use it!!

I don't know how can the bartender mess up a simple drink, I order a margarita, he didn't put and effort to make the drink, the shaker was there so clean and he didn't use it, the smell was so strong, where I was sitting smelled like dirty trash can , my husband order a Paloma and the taste was awful!! We pay $30 dollars so not cheap!! I will never go back!! The only good thing is the live music!!!

Fun place to come with your friends to watch live bands and have a drink. They are limited on cocktails so a mojito isn't an option (or at least when I went). I ordered a vodka cranberry and that was available. They have a few beers on tap. This place can get very crowded on the weekends. It was chill on the weekdays. You can hang at the outside patio when you need fresh air.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE…read more My friends and I came here to celebrate my boyfriend's little sister's 25th birthday around 12:40 a.m. on 8/1/26, and the night was ruined within minutes. Our first stop was the upstairs restroom by the stairs. The bar was busy, but the first floor wasn't overcrowded. To give some context, the restroom is located right next to the staircase. I was waiting in line, and my boyfriend's little sister was standing only a few feet away from me. The stairs were not blocked. A man suddenly walked up to her and immediately screamed in her face, "You need to move. You can't block the stairs." She stepped over. Instead of leaving it at that, he got even closer to her face and yelled, "YOU NEED TO MOVE UP OR DOWN." Like most people would, she defended herself after having a stranger scream inches from her face. She responded, "Okay then go. I'm not blocking you." He continued hovering over her, repeatedly shouting, "UP OR DOWN." She replied, "Stop telling me to move. You move!" That's when he yelled, "THIS IS MY PLACE. GTFO," grabbed her aggressively by the arm, and forcibly dragged her out. This all happened within about 10 minutes of us arriving. The man was wearing a fitted hat with a black tee. Had a tatted colored sleeve with some green. I'm not sure if he was the owner or the manager, but I've never seen someone with such a short temper treat a customer this way. If there had been a misunderstanding, all he had to do was calmly identify himself as staff and explain what he needed. Instead, he escalated the situation from the very beginning by screaming in her face and then physically removing her after she responded to being yelled at. No man should put his hands on a woman with that kind of force, especially when she was not being physically aggressive or threatening anyone. She never touched him. She only defended herself verbally after being screamed at. As a result, she was left with visible marks on her arm. This was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. No customer should be treated this way. We came to celebrate a birthday, and instead watched someone abuse their authority and turn a simple misunderstanding into a physical confrontation. I hope management takes this seriously because no one should have to worry about being manhandled over something that could have been resolved with a calm conversation.

I went to see a show " Italiani Veri "  last night. Fabulous cabaret-type show with performer Arianna. She's a true (veri) Italian from Milan who sang, danced and explained Italian culture as part of the entertainment. She has an amazing voice! She could have been a finalist at the San Remo Music Festival - the most famous singing festival in Italy. She fessed up saying she had been an Italian Mouseketeer! The venue has a bar/lounge to enjoy cocktails then a few steps down further is the theater. You need to be mobile since there are a lot of steps. Seating is first come-first serve. I have to admit that seating is quite tight. You are shoulder to shoulder with your neighbors. Get cozy folks. They typically have magic shows here! If you want to see a historic night club, this would be the venue to come to and enjoy a show. Italiani Veri show was a real treat! Highly recommend it!

From the moment we stepped in, the Irish-accented bartender welcomed us like family. Not the good kind--more like the redheaded stepchildren who show up unannounced but are getting fed anyway. She didn't just serve drinks--she gathered us. There's a real sense that if things got cold outside, she'd tuck the whole bar into her metaphorical bosom, hand out shots of Fernet and tell us we're doing just fine in life (even if we clearly are not). And then there's the other bartender, who looks a lot like Gavin Newsom. So slick, composed and somehow making even a simple pour feel like a well-managed state operation. If he started giving policy updates between rounds, I wouldn't have even questioned it. Drinks were strong, vibes were stronger and by the end of the night we felt sure we'd been there our whole lives. Five stars for the Guinness, six stars for the bartenders and seven stars for the full emotional dependency formed somewhere between rounds two and three.

I randomly saw an ad on Instagram for Lavay Smith & Red Hot Skillet Lickers. They looked & sounded really swanky so I was intrigued. I'm glad that someone took a photo of the parking details on here so we parked at that garage. Upon walking into the place, I asked the front desk person about the parking, and he gave me the parking discount stub so we were able to just pay $10 for parking at that garage. We tried to find street parking, but it was impossible. The place looks swanky. The stairs were adorn with little blue lights and flowers, which was lovely. The room downstairs was dimly lit with each table having a touch lamp with 3 levels of brightness. The restrooms were individual gender neutral stall rooms with a sink area. When I walked into the restroom area, this guy just walked out of a stall, and he just smiled at me then walked out into the room without washing his hands!!! I later noticed him, and I pointed him out to my boyfriend. Lol... He was the trombone player of the band. Lol.. We ordered the following items: - Golden Hour Spritz - pretty refreshing & bright - Louisiana Lemonade - also refreshing & sweet - Biscuits - pretty yummy, I liked the butter - Jambalaya - pretty tasty - Shrimp & Grits - cheesy and tasty - Peach & Blueberry Cobbler - too much blueberry and not enough peach; this was okay Service... It was mixed. Our server didn't bring us waters that we told her when we were ordering. We had to flag someone down for waters. She didn't come by to check on us or refill out waters. They're pretty quick at clearing plates when we finish them. Then when the check came, they tried to charge us for posters...? We didn't get any posters. Wtf... weird. We told her about it, and she apologized and removed it. Nonetheless... We still have an enjoyable evening listening to live music with the lovely jazz band. And the band was tight. Service was abysmal - Andrew was the main problem. We still tipped nicely as it seemd like the place may pool tips and we wanted to not allow the bad service we got from Andrew to affect the other people that were working. The food wasn't really great either and the drinks were mediocre. Very cheap sysco mass produced junk food. We ordered: Espresso martini-- watery with a huge amount of whipping cream---noooo! Biscuit-- cold, crunchy, undercooked-- I am not sure how they achieved this combo, but they did. Shrimp and grits--- bland as hell. Cream and shrimp over firm grits. Not good. Catfish nuggets-- these were okay- the jalapeno tarter was nice. Sweet potato fries-- were good. Not crispy or hot. We were hungry so we didn't mind. Our main server was Andrew-- a few others also were helping too. They were much nicer. Andrew seemed to be on an entirely different plane of understanding what hospitality is. Can't confirm, but he seemed like he was of an " enhanced" nature. All sped up and not really interested in working...irritated and agitated at us. Our drinks and food got mixed up and delivered to the wrong tables. He dropped of the credit card for the table next to us. When the table asked, Where's our check, he snapped that he dropped it off-- that's when we noticed that it was sitting on our table and handed to the people next to us. He was rude, held my sister's drink by the rim while dropping it off doing a weird back armed spin... never asked how anything was. My sister had to wipe the rim with a napkin before drinking-- but got grossed out and ordered a different drink. We were there for the second show and apparently they ran out of the macaroni croquettes. Andrew with ZERO finesse just states, were out of the macaroni -- you want something else? I said what do you have? He acted all put out when I asked for a menu. I was also asking what the joint had because they were out of food by the second show. We had light appetizers elsewhere thinking that we would have dinner at the show-- super disappointed with the food. If the band wasn't so amazing I would have gotten up and left due to the lack of hospitality and manners. Great venue, the sound and acoustics are fabulous. We had a comfortable side booth and were super happy with our seating location. I would go back for the music. But not for the food or service.
