I wish I had stayed seeing him. Dr Tak saw me and I took her advice but after being referred out, I should not have return to see her. Her demeanor and attitude toward me changed and got frustrated. I sent a message explaining my situation and concerns and no one has cared to respond to me. After investing time and money (out of pocket pay) I'm greatly disappointed. They could hire a friendly face at the front desk. Whenever I had Mary, she was cold and unwelcoming to me. And that happened each time I encountered her.

What sets him apart is his ability to balance naturopathic and allopathic approaches in a way that's truly tailored to you as an individual. He doesn't apply a one-size-fits-all protocol -- he listens, assesses, and meets you where you are. Working with him has been a genuinely positive experience, and I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for a thoughtful, dedicated practitioner who takes your whole health seriously.

We just sat there and stared at eachother for maybe 60 seconds. I wish I could tell you why but it was scary and bizarre. I have year round allergies I asked about and he shrugged and mentioned one drug, that was it. We went over two prescriptions I have, he said wow that's a high dosage when referring to my antidepressant, he did not elaborate. There was a knot on my throat he said he would be willing to see through till the end-- I'm OK, I'll go to another doctor. It's clear he didn't want me in the appointment and he had an attitude the majority of the time. He rolled his eyes twice while I was talking. I read glowing reviews from other patients who he's helped with similar issues before booking. He did help me some and he softened up near the end. There were several other issues but I'll leave it at that, he seemed confused by the purpose of the visit. I used to respect his opinion. I overestimated his abilities as a professional and as a doctor.

This is the worst practice I have ever been to. I was referred to them for nerve pain, which…read morestopped during the 2 month wait to get into their office. When I finally got in I advised the spasms would sometimes go dormant for 2-3 weeks before returning. Rather than waste the appointment, I inquired about possibly having a separate issue with my back treated. From there it went downhill: **MRI order was sent to the wrong facility. It took weeks of requests to have this corrected. **The earliest follow-up was another 2 months out. This appointment could have been a 5 minute phone call, something that should be considered for patients dealing with chronic pain. **After waiting for 2 months I'm told at the follow up that they never received the medical records from my previous doctor, which they need to submit a claim for the procedure. I pointed out they had 2 full months to get the records and asked why they waited until I was in the office to request them, the doctor said he was unaware they didn't have my records. **Weeks before the appointment, I sent a note through their patient portal to let them know the nerve pain I was originally referred to them for had returned and requested the info added to my chart. No response or confirmation from the office. During the follow up, I asked about next steps with regards to addressing the nerve problem. Rather than write up an order for imaging to investigate, the issue was completely ignored. **Staff said they would send a request for bilateral facet ablations. I made it clear I've only had ablations on my left side and do not need them on the right. Staff doubled down and said they'd submit a claim for bilateral, but the doctor would do the procedure on just the left side if that's what I want. I advised insurance won't approve a claim for bilateral ablations since I've never had the procedure on the right side (diagnostic injections are required prior to ablations). They called me a week or so later to let me know they'd request the facet ablation for left side only. Two months have passed since the follow up visit and I have received absolutely no contact from the office to schedule the procedure. My insurance provider hasn't received a claim from them either. I imagine the excuse is that they're still waiting to get my medical records. That would be ironic, if true, because my spine care team at UCLA (which is very responsive) hasn't gotten any records requests. It is unreal to me how a practice this inept is staying in business. If you are referred here or are thinking of going to SP&SS, please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I had hoped to find a local practice to treat my pain, but I don't hate myself enough to wait for this office to get their act together. I'd also like to include an honorable mention of how after having said that I prefer not to take pain medication, the doctor casually asked if I wanted muscle relaxers as we're exiting the exam room. I declined the offer and stated my pain isn't muscular.

The RFA's to help me with stenosis does help. But when calling to schedule and rescheduling and showing up to appointment and I get treated to the point where I get angry is not okay in my book. When I call to reschedule an appointment because I was just in the ER and was unable to drive due to pain and pain meds, I shouldn't be asked "do you even want this procedure?" when I've had years of showing up and attending my appointments and procedures. When I show up to an appointment and find out, they scheduled it weird, so the front desk couldn't find it clearly and the lady in font repeatedly tells me "we don't do that here, and you don't have an appointment" without verifying in the information with anyone in the back. You tend to get a sour taste for the company and rethink options.

I first met Sheila Wettlaufer through Salem Clinic in the 90s. My doctor had left the clinic and…read morethey didn't have another doctor to take her place, so for a short time we saw Sheila for any appointments. Sheila was the kindest woman I had ever met!!! My previous doctor's position was filled and I began seeing that doctor. I was a patient at Salem Clinic all the way into my adult years, I saw an OB/Gyn there when I was pregnant and my daughter and I remained patients with their Family Practice until she was in elementary school. I hated getting moved around from doctor to doctor, they never had time to really get to know us and at every appointment we were asked if we were new patients. I decided I needed to switch. I looked and looked through the list of providers that accepted my insurance and saw Sheila. I instantly called and got set up for a new patient appointment. Shortly after I switched my daughter to her. My mom left Salem Clinic and moved to Sheila, my sisters switched, and I recently switched my stepdaughter to her as well. I've been seeing Sheila now for at least 10 years and I would not change her for the world. My only reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the recent change in receptionist. The previous receptionist was kind and wonderful, but the new gal seems to struggle picking up the job.

After reading the previous reviews I felt that I had to speak up. I first met Sheila at Urgent Care…read morethrough Salem Clinic. She took great care of me and explained exactly what was wrong and how to manage it. (I had an infected spider bite.) When she opened her own practice I made the decision to change my adult disabled kids to her practice. When you deal with a disability you need to be able to reach your doctor and not be given the "run around". My children had been cared for by Dr. James Lace for years and had actually "aged out!" of his pediatric practice. I was terrified knowing that they would have to get in line at a huge clinic where you never really get to know the staff. The level of comfort that my kids feel at Sheila's office can't be matched. It's a small clinic and we are all on a first name basis. Sheila has been extremely careful and through with her treatment of both of my children. She has "gone to bat" for us with insurance issues and has made sure that "no stone is left unturned" when it comes to their care. I can't imagine her "inviting a man to her home for dinner...I'm guessing her husband might mind! :)" although perhaps she extended the invitation out of some personal concern which I'm not aware of. Needless to say, I would most definitely refer others to Mill Creek Family Medicine. Do we have LONG waits at times? Absolutely. I have LONG waits when I myself am seen at Salem Clinic. I have EXTREMELY long waits at Salem Hospital. That being said, I'm guessing that my kids and I are waiting since she is taking the needed time to deal with the patient prior to us. She NEVER rushes us and ALWAYS takes time to answer all of my questions and address my concerns. If you want one on one service from your provider, without feeling like you are "just a number" then Mill Creek Family is a great place for your family health care.
