It was still one of the nicest things that's ever happened to me in a shop. Good one Ken! Apart from random acts of kindness, this is the place to go for anything camera-related. They stock a wide range of gear, (including studio equipment) and seem to always be a little bit cheaper than other places around. They also sell second hand gear on behalf, and also repair film cameras (not digital ones, although they can clean the sensor for you). I've actually had the same camera for about 18 years, so I'm not really their target market, but if you're upgrading or getting your first camera, I encourage you to go here and talk to people who know of what they speak. Finally, if you are in need of Lomo and the like, you can get that here too. All this and free tomatoes!

So I got the vacuum cleaner out in a attempt to present my flat in a 'cleanish' matter, when the bloody thing just up and died on me. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful, so I gave it a good kick and begged my boyfriend to drive me to Godfreys New Lynn to replace it. I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for this store. Vacuum cleaners from other stores are inherently expensive and having almost spent the last of my paycheck buying clothes (when will I learn!) I didn't have much hope of finding one in time, and that did the job sufficiently. Somehow I managed to turn up at the tail end of their Easter promotion so things were pretty cheap (note that this store caters to all budgets so they do do expensive vacs too if that is what you are after). I was served by a very helpful guy who pointed me in the right direction and I found one that fit all the requirements for a great price, I was so relieved. The guys here are also happy to answer your questions if you have any issues like a major spill and you don't know what cleaning product will work the best. They stock steam mops and a decent range of carpet shampooers. Knowing my luck with spills, I will probably be back in here sooner rather later!

I dropped off my laptop at the Auckland CBD shop to be repaired and was assured, explicitly,…read moremultiple times, that since I bought the laptop at another shop in the chain, I wouldn't be charged for an assessment should I choose not to have any work done on it. I received a call later in the week telling me that the necessary repair was going to cost more than I originally paid for the laptop, and decided not to proceed. I was then informed of a $100 assessment fee. When I contested this the staff member said that he would check some things and get back to me. He never did. Today I went to pick up my non-functioning computer and to speak with a manager. During the course of our conversation he constantly interrupted me, talked down to me, and refused to answer when I asked why he thought this was acceptable customer service. He also came across very much as though he was trying to intimidate me. When I stood my ground he changed from telling me that I must have misunderstood/the staff member must have misspoken to telling me that she had never said anything that could be interpreted as me being able to expect not to be charged and that I was lying. Additionally, he told me that having to wait to speak with him was my own fault when I expressed dissatisfaction at how long it had taken. I'm very unimpressed with the lack of consistency and professionalism.

Some of the junior staff can be a bit more confident of their knowledge than deserved. However, the manager on my recent visit was extremely helpful and knew exactly what I needed to do to solve a wifi problem, didn't force me to buy anything and even gave me a bag for the part I had carried into the store. The Appliance Shed is a huge bright yellow building that boasts heavily discounted prices on…read morefactory seconds and showroom demo's, but half the stock was missing prices. The other half you could find new in another appliance store at the same price, if you shopped around. This may not always be true but none of the staff spoke to or acknowledged me to disprove this fact. Perhaps their garish yellow uniforms had caused some sort of irreparable blindness or corneal damage. Two staff members obliviously strolled past while another popped bubble wrap 5 meters from where I puzzled over my purchase. Because I was using the company card, I offered the bubble-popper a chance to up-sell me, taking the cheapest product and the one I was considering to the counter and asking what the difference was. And here again I would like to mention the uniforms. Perhaps it was supposed I had also suffered some sort of temporal blindness from the bright yellow shirts because the staff member obtusely replied "They're different brands". It carried on from there in this manner for some time before I gave up but lets just say that I'm glad I wasn't looking for any helpful service or an appliance bigger than a desk phone.

The guys at Mix Foundation are no exception and they were more than happy to spend time discussing the various merits of music formats and compatibility of software and hardware. They offer a complete range and have pretty much everything on display and encourage you to try things out before making a purchase. That doesn't sound like much to ask when some kit is VERY expensive but other stores keep the good stuff behind glass which makes it tricky to commit to a purchase. They kept in constant contact with me throughout the process. They were even able to get my MacBook Pro back to me earlier than expected. Their staff was courteous and professional. I will absolutely return here on subsequent trips to Auckland if I need anything!

After a considerable drive to drop phone off was told sorry no batteries in stock for this model and then tried to blame it on shipping etc totally ignoring the fact that a staff member had supposedly put one aside.
