Updating my review as I recently utilized Mikaila for our new home purchase. I contacted Mikaila after reading all of the wonderful reviews and seeing the beautiful pictures of her work on yelp. Before I give you the cons, let me start with the pros. Mikaila is definitely a gifted interior designer and we loved her design plan for our home. She also made great suggestions with the current furniture we have on how to move it around so it's more visually appealing. She also explained the importance of getting quality furniture versus build-it-yourself furniture. I appreciated that. Unfortunately, we didn't receive the 5 star yelp experience everyone else on here had. First of all, upon our first meeting her, we didn't receive a warm and personable greeting. She came into our home and I didn't get a good vibe. Secondly, we gave her our limited budget (because on her yelp business page she claimed she works with your budget) and she said it wasn't enough. I know she's right but there was nothing we could do with that. It's called a budget for a reason. She came up with a design plan (in the same day, which we were ecstatic over) that went way over our budget. Third, she takes forever to email! After she sent the design plan, communication with her went downhill. I sent her a couple emails and after a few days I texted her to see if she received any of my emails. She texts back saying that she's been so busy. Fine, understandable. But when she finally emails back, she doesn't answer all my questions. After a week after our consultation, she was supposed to come back to do her magic. Again, I emailed and no response. It took my husband's email for her to respond and say that she's on vacation and will respond when she returns. Um, excuse me?! The courteous thing to do would have been to notify us that she'll be away but will get back to us as soon as she could. That would've been polite. Bottom line: she has poor communication skills. It's too bad, too. We wanted to have her to style our bedroom and to do renos for both bathrooms. Oh, well! I'm actually being overly generous by giving her 3 stars, but like I said, she's talented. read more

I simply sent her photos of my space and she sent back a design idea board and purchasing info for her recommendations. We spoke about the details like rug size and accessories. I love her style and we did my master bedroom and front porch virtually. She designed many other areas of my house when in person design was possible and I can recommend her for those services as well without hesitation. Hired Mikaila to help with updating the interior of our home and was quite disappointed, especially in light of all the glowing yelp reviews. She's just way too busy to provide her smaller clients with quality service in a timely manner. I had to send multiple follow up messages to get her input on some decor options. And after several weeks, I got a partial list of suggestions that weren't really all that useful. The one benefit is that we decided to go with one of the paint colors she suggested. We moved into our new house in November of 2017, and had solicited Mikaila to help us find furniture and remodel 3 bathrooms and kitchen. She also helped us pick out all the furniture for the house, the paint color, and the exterior paint color. Her ideas for the kitchen remodel were amazing, the original layout was horrible and she was actually able to fix it. We love our new kitchen, and bathrooms. We had other difficulties such as curved walls and windows, which are very difficult to dress. She did her best at finding best possible options. After living in my home for 18 years it was time to update some things and overhaul others. I met with a few designers before I hired Mikaila. During our first consultation I found Mikaila to be a great listener. I felt she really took her time and listened to me and heard my wishes and vision for my home.
