Usually a good place to hang out but don't go there for a major sporting event because they now reserve every table for their regulars even though they were 90% empty 30 minutes before kickoff. Only sports bar I know that does that. Taco Tuesday is good though. One star for sports events planning. Typically 5 star service so rated 2 stars since we had to bounce to watch a big game elsewhere. read more

We weren't really hungry, and it was my first time here.The service was excellent, and my Ceasar salad was delicious. There's really only one bartender that is fairly nice but the rest are rude which makes the visit to Jay's unpleasant. There have been multiple times I've witnessed some rude remarks to both my group and other ethnic folks, so I guess they're rude all the way around? Every time I go, I expect the bartenders to at least skip me over once while lining up at the bar. The buddies and I really only go here because it's convenient, but not exactly a place I recommend. read more

We can get recently after completing an escape room down the street. The interior was pretty spacious and open. We ordered some drinks and snacks from the bar. The food came out pretty quick and so did the drinks. We enjoyed our time and left feeling good. read more

Ah, good old Jay's. This place is a major hit or miss for me. While sometimes it can be a blast and a ton of fun, other times it feels like the absolute worst place you can be. The drinks here are cheap and decent. Good enough right? Definitely! However I have had some less than friendly experiences with the staff. I know that working in a bar can't be easy, so I try to cut them some slack. I will say that they are super iffy on whether or not they'll serve you sometimes. Definitely do not partake in any marijuana before coming here, it's one of their rules and they will NOT serve you. This is a big place and there's a lot of open space. It's worth checking out for karaoke, or playing pool, or even gambling. If the vibes are off for the night, I say just leave and try again later. When it's fun, it is very fun! read more

I've been coming here for almost 15 years. The staff is amazing. They are friendly, efficient, and very accommodating. The food is better-than-average for bar food... I've ordered most things on the menu and have not been disappointed. Get the deep fried oreos or twinkies! Drinks are good and reasonably priced. They have karaoke on some nights and it gets pretty packed but it is very fun. Lots of pool tables/games in a spacious area. Awesome for large parties. Great heated outdoor patio. Video poker if that's your thing. It's got something for everybody. I am always down for Jay's, it's always a good time when I come here! read more

What is with the bad reviews?! I've been here plenty of times on the weekends for their insanely perfect bloody Mary's. They have a handful of different bloody options on the weekends from open-2PM. Even their regular bloody has plenty of pickled veggie options with bacon which is rare in this city. They also have a huge food menu and a delicious Caesar salad. I love watching Sunday football here, they have tons of TV's and a projector. If you get their early enough, you call the game and the tv- they will have you covered. The staff is great especially on Sunday morning. They do ask for your ID as soon as you walk in but don't get pissed at them for asking even if you're 60 years old. It's their job and it's the law. They have a few video lottery machines which always seem to be full so people must be winning something there! Pool tables and golden tee. I've been here tons and have never seen it insanely busy so you can always count on a sit or a pool table whatever you're looking for. They also have a great patio space with heaters when it's chilly out. You can smoke on half the patio. If I lived closer, this would be my number 1 spot but I drive from Portland on Sunday mornings for the bloody and vibes. read more

Possibly the worst service I've ever received, the middle aged female bartender rolled her eyes as I walked in, instead of being greeted she continued chatting with her friend until I asked if outside seating was available. I had to come back in to order then back again to get my own food (which was honestly inedible) back again to get my drink, then you guessed it BACK again to pay my bill. Always a good time. Great selection of drinks and the food comes out pretty fast. Karaoke is nice because the vocals are played low and the music high so it helps when you're not there for the karaoke. It'd be better if the host playing karaoke didn't sing so many songs. Horrible service. Haven't been in months and came in last night. I guess they ask who the drinks are for and if you decide to share they call you "liars" and cut you off but are not direct about cutting you off. The male bartender who was working got super aggressive when my boyfriend tried asking about it and the blonde female bartender must have noticed bc she stepped in to explain and was actually nice about it. It definitely ruined our entire experience. This isn't the first time our group has experienced horrible service either. Our little after work group has been coming here a couple times a month for a few months now. I have yet to have a disappointing experience. Service is polite and prompt, the bar is clean, good safe atmosphere. They have a strict carding policy that I can appreciate. Every dish I have ordered has been a win. Pretty great set up to watch a game, a couple pool tables, and a ping pong table. I was really excited when my steak and eggs came out, I just wish it tasted just as good as It looked. The steak was extremely over seasoned and the eggs where very overcooked. The steak was good quality and cooked pretty well though The service was pretty decent although had to go to the bar for drink refills. We came here for the bloody Marys and we weren't disappointed! We came in on a Sunday afternoon not even thinking about the games that would be playing or considering that a sports bar is probably going to be filled with game watching fans. We realized quickly that's what we were walking into but we chose a booth in the corner so we wouldn't be in the way and wouldn't bother anyone with our chatting. A friendly waitress came by with menus and asked what we'd like. We told her we just wanted the giant bloody Mary's. She answered a few questions for us and was off to place our order. She came back, after just a short wait, with the most amazing bloody Mary's ever! They're filled with burgers, wings, poppers, cheese sticks, veggies, bacon and more! She even brought over plates for us to disassemble our snacks for our drinks. The burgers were very good! The Bloody Mary itself was really fantastic too! No one seemed to mind that we sat around for over an hour chatting and enjoying our snacks and drink. The waitress even brought me a water when I asked. Some places get a little pissy when asked for water but she was friendly and fast with it. We paid at the counter and thanked them for the great drinks. I actually came here since I saw they had Vegas style bloody Mary's in the weekends and my husband looooves bloody Mary's. Okay- Bloody Mary, slider, tots, cheese stick, peppers, olives, fries etc all stacked on top. A meal in one! $9 Plus they have another that has chicken and waffles on top! If you wanna go a step further they have the colossal version that has all that plus wings in a 30oz mug. $22 And they were soooo delicious Food was good too! Heravouse Rancheros were not like any I have ever had (I'd say I'm picky about my HR) but they were still very tasty! The food ON the Bloody Mary was so amazing. Definitely the best slider I have ever had in my entire life and I've had a lot- next time I'm getting a burger and I'll add that into here. Service was not what I was used to. We did have to wait a while to be first waited on and then it took an unusual long time to get the drink too. Then had to go to the bar and ask for my check since it never came? Not sure how it's done around there. Didn't add that into my rating since it was Saturday, my first time there, and a steady crowd. This is a great neighborhood bar. We always go here for inexpensive drinks, yummy bar food and video poker. Lots of TVs to watch games, pool, buckhunter, etc. lots of things to keep one entertained. The owners and the bartenders are great and friendly. The new Bloody Marys they are serving is one of the best I have ever seen and had! I am going to ask the bartender to make mine more spicy, but I know they won't mind. But seriously it's a meal in itself for only 10 bucks! You get a delicious burger, tator tots, bacon, veggies galore and a beer buck, all for a measly 10 bucks! I was super impressed with this thing. I see all of these bad reviews and it's unfortunate that those yelpers feel that way, but I have yet to have a bad time here in Jay's and have never experienced any of what the bad reviewers are saying. To each their own opinion for sure. It's not the Ritz Carlton that's for sure. But the bar is spacious and not the worst bar I have ever been to. I think it's clean, and have been to FAR WORST Bars. We live in Portland, home of Dive Bars, c'mon people and if you think this place is dirty you truly aren't a Portlander. I personally LOVE dive Bars and this place is clean compared to some sketch places. If you're looking for something that's pristine and fancy pants go somewhere else off of 82nd, duh. Get yourself to Departure and pay 12 dollars a drink and 30 dollars for a morsel of food, ha. But I love going here. Grab your friends and head down here and make it a good time. I been to jays bar and grill a few times and this is the first time I felt so racially profiled. As soon we walked in they gave us attitude when ordering. We went to the patio outside on the fire pit. Then went inside because it was cold, they went ahead and told us that they were not going to serve us anymore because "someone" outside said our group was smoking weed! NONE of us smoke! We said check cameras, or tell us who said something so we can defend ourself. Racist azz bar. Heavy set Caucasian-woman at the bar had to be the rudest bartender I ever encountered. If i could give a 0 I would. We got here around 11:30pm. We had 2 rounds and drinks while we played pool. Then we ordered food. We finished our drinks and went down to the 4 in a row game. My brother and I wanted our last drinks. It was 1:28am and I went to the bar to get 2 lemons drops with him. The bartender with the shoulder length light brown hair ned Laurie said "you guys are killing me" i said nothing to her because I had a few drinks and I knew one thing would lead to another. This killed the entire experience for us. We felt like she was racist because she was helping others fine. She didn't start our drinks when she asked what we wanted after she made her rude comment and went to help another customer. She left out glasses out but didn't make our drinks and helped her another person after she helped the person next us. This is the worst type of customer service you can provide. We were tipping well the entire night and we're not sure why she was so rude. My brother asked to close the tab then she said "well that only took me an hour huh" i didn't say anything I just looked at my brother and he gave me a bush look. We weren't being rude or loud. I will not be back to this bar. I vented on Snapchat and was told by more than 7 people they stopped coming here because they experienced rude and hostile service from the bartenders and also felt like it was a racial thing. The exact thing happened to them. I do wanna give a huge shout out the waiter Que. He was amazing he was super sweet and attentive to anything we needed and made sure we had our food. Food is great. That busser is super nice. But the service at the bar towards any person of color is shameful. I've never felt so unwelcomed at a bar because of my race in this day in age. The bartenders, specifically Lori/Laurie (whatever her name is) literally rolled her eyes when the other one asked her to make our drinks b/c we had been waiting on someone for a while and she had completely ignored us and another POC and helped others.. which is not ok.
