When I walk in and see the staff talking with each other and actually having a great time at work, I feel I am spending my money at the right place. I am a huge fan of the garden section. I understand the difficulties of dealing with very specific customers, as I am one of them. This woman assisted me, and offered me constructive comments offering the freshest of flowers, even if they contrasted my initial proposals. Working with the public everyday can be quite exhausting, and if a girl with a piercing in each nostril can come to Lincoln Park amidst all its glory and show the love her job to a random customer, then I know I'm a fan. read more

This place is awful. Display furniture looks old and worn. Customer service is lacking. People barely looked at us when we walked in and on my way out I said thank you to our "helper" three times - once right to her face - and she never said anything back. Designs are old and out dated. Ladies and gentlemen - I have found my new absolute favorite store in the City of Chicago. I recently moved into a new home and needed some design inspiration. After visiting several stores, and not being impressed by any, I walked into Jayson's Home and Garden and it was like Angels were singing. This IS the MECCA of home design in Chicago. I spent about 30 minutes in the store just to absorb it all. The gorgeous vintage chandeliers, refurbished writing desks, elaborate chaise lounges, French cook books and luxury home fragrances that rivals the selection at Barney's.... they all captured my attention and seduced my senses. To a girl like me, who absolutely adores the charm of anything antique and vintage, I was in heaven. If I had an unlimited budget, I would definitely buy my furnishings from Jayson HG. For now, I will continue to visit the store for inspiration. read more

We ordered a Fiddle Fica tree and a beveled planter. Both were delivered within a week which was sooner than we thought, very happy. Because we both were at work we had our condominium maintenance team allow them to bring the plant into our unit. That night we noticed a few scratches on the planter, which we paid good money for. I emailed Jayson Home that night regarding our desire for a replacement. Within 12 hours we heard from the owner and a customer service person both apologizing for the issue. Two days later they replaced the planter and we receive a follow-up email this morning asking if we were happy. The point of this review is to applaud JH for outstanding customer service, and offering a quick solution. Both added to a great experience. read more

I absolutely adore Jayson Home. It's an eclectic mix of textures, fixtures and furniture that cannot be found at the common chain furniture stores. I've purchased serval items from Jayson Home and more often than not, my friends will say "where did you get that?" My favorite recent purchase were these fascinating hand-painted Moroccan plates which are perfect for dessert or appetizers. Beyond exceptional offerings, I found Jayson Home to have the most extraordinary customer service. As stated on their website, they are committed to your satisfaction and I was recently a witness to this promise. Early January, sales associate Harriet did a fantastic job in helping me select a fabulous dining room table. The team was friendly and delivery was prompt and professional within a few days of purchase. Unfortunately, this gorgeous table wasn't manufactured to stand the test of time and six months after purchase, some defected areas on the table legs were apparent. Had this been a West Elm or Crate & Barrel this would have been a "tough luck" scenario. Not the case with Jayson Home as the General Manager, Don, promptly came to the rescue. I explained my situation and Don was gracious to give me a full refund. With my love for that table, it was hard to say goodbye, but I feel so incredibly lucky to have bought from a store that provides quality furniture and will do what it takes to promptly correct any hiccups. The pickup process was scheduled immediately and the delivery team was friendly and recognized me from the original drop-off. I fully intend to do my future furniture shopping with Jayson Home and would recommend this store to anyone who wants original quality pieces teamed up with prompt and friendly service. I am glad that Chicago has a home furnishings store of the calibre of Jayson Home. It is a place that I love to come to to get inspiration in decorating my place. Nomadic rugs, beautiful pillows, decorative items and mirrors, antiques and contemporary furnishings. Jayson Home has it covered for you. If you have a yard check out the gardening center outside. I come here often to steal design ideas-- I check out their tablescapes and shelving arrangements. There is always cool stuff to look at however it's overpriced and usually a variation is available at the Home Goods across the street. The floral arrangements are excellent and the succulents are beautiful. My biggest issue and the reason why I rated this store 3/5 is the staff. I've never been helped, questioned, aided, whatever by anyone who is "working" there. On one occasion I asked the man who's always styling the flowers, (homeboy is very talented but has ZERO manners or communication skills) "how do you arrange the succulents without the roots?" HE DIDN'T ANSWER ME! He just kept his head down and continued working! I looked at my mom and she just said "ok. Time to go." I refuse to actually give this store my business, I think it's bizarre that they are able to maintain a clientele while treating people the way they do. Anyway, I'm going to keep going and keep stealing ideas.. thanks for the free design service, I guess. read more

A really interesting store - I can only review the walk-in shopping. There was a lovely sale on Christmas items (sparkly, classy, but ended up being cheap!). The store has a lot of neat houseware, soaps and even a cute little children's section. Even if you can't afford anything here, it's an amazing place just for inspiration. The "home" portion has quirky, cool seating arrangements, home decor items, art objects and more. The "garden" is a gorgeous, large area packed with flowers of every kind. I had a flower pot planted for my front deck and both the person that took my order and the person that did the arrangement and gave it me when I picked it up were friendly and obviously knowledgeable (more so than I, which is why I had someone do the planting in the first place)! AMAZING Jayson is my GO TO spot for home accessories. Most times I have to cover my eyes when I leave for fear I might spot another GEM on the way out. They always have the most interesting and thoughtful products. Im not an avid "yelper" but I was in there the other day and my customer service was out of this world, amazing!!! They were fairly busy getting ready for a event but the young girl, Lisa, I think was her name, helping me couldn't have been more of a sweetheart. I felt like I was shopping with my best friend. She gave the best home styling advice and even got me to break out of my norm! And anyone who knows me, it's damn near impossible. Anyway, if you haven't been to Jayson, you HAVE to go. Jayson Home and Garden is the best! I am the chair person of the landscaping committee for my condo building. We decided to add some potted plants to our entrance. After doing a good amount of research and searching for pots, I found Jayson Home and Garden. This is a one stop shop for a fantastic selection of pots, bushes, and plants. The staff (specifically Joan Murray, ask for her) was very knowledgeable and helpful. She suggested plants that would work for our location (sunlight or lack of sunlight) and was able to work within our budget. I'll definitely be back in the spring to consult with Jayson Home and Garden and Joan for our spring plantings. read more

The past two years I have had Joan put together my planters (for my balcony). Her artistry and eye for what works (with my Northeast exposure) is impressive. Also, when they mess up the order (which they have done twice), they fix it without excuse; better than any other retailer I have ever dealt with. Prices are on the high side, but one look at their work makes you forget the dent in your wallet. The higher prices are worth it every time I sit on my patio with a glass of Cab Sauv and take in the beauty of the Chicago Skyline and my beautiful, lush plants. read more

I have always loved the selection of furniture and home items at this store. We have bought many items here over the years. Today, I have a whole new reason to love Jayson's. I bought some furniture from them in fall, 2009, and the seat cushion fabric on the sofa has begun to show a lot of wear and tear. I spoke to Don this morning by phone, sent him some pictures of the damage, and a new cover for the seat cushion is on its way to me this afternoon, at no charge. That is what I call standing behind your merchandise and providing great customer service. By the way, I love the sofa, too! read more

Yeah, the attitude in this place from the staff is almost as high as the prices. Almost. I went in seeking outdoor furniture very late in winter. When I inquired about it, I was told "You're way too early sir." That alone would have been enough, but then it was coupled with "Haven't you bought outdoor furniture before?" I went on to get a mini-lecture on when they bring out ALL of their seasonal items. This was all reinforced by another staff member standing close by. Needless to say, I left. It's a great old space with wood floors and high ceilings -- the vibe is upscale flea market / barn glam with a bit of mid-century thrown in. I love the store and yes it is expensive. They carry unique products perfectly curated. When they run a sale they run a great sale! And customer service is great. They do understand how to help people. Just ask. They don't hover like in some stores; they leave you alone to shop in peace. But they have answers if you need them. And sometimes they run a sale on Mitchel Gold furniture that is better than the MGBW store pricing. It's a great place just for inspiration too! Ok the prices here are high and you can find the same items for less if you shop around..if you have the time and I took off a star for this. but what an inspiring store. I have always found the staff to be very helpful and they really do go above and beyond to accomodate as is my experience. I always get complimented on my planters they put together for me. I had a table I bought and it ended up being too big for my space once all the other furniture arrived..not only did I have no issues with the refund but I got a handwritten note that said "thanks for trying and hope to see you soon" this place definately has class. read more

I was in the store for at least 10 minutes before any one said hello. I just want to start off by saying that I love to go into Jayson. The displays are beautiful and the variety and uniqueness of merchandise is phenomenal. It is really my go-to place for gifts, as I can always find something for everyone there - and usually find a few things for myself as well. Now here's why I give it only three stars: First of all, it is extremely expensive, at least on the lower end of merchandise (the gifty-kind of stuff). Now, i know their candle prices are the same as anywhere else that sells high-end candles, but some of the other stuff is just outrageous - tiny prayer rugs for $500, a little toss pillow for $250, you catch my drift. On the other hand, on the higher end of merchandise, as in furniture, their prices really aren't all that bad. I was interested in a sofa that was only about $2,000, not bad, but I did find out it was made by Lee (same make of a lot of Crate & Barrel furniture) for which I don't have a ton of confidence in the quality. But I digress... Plants and garden materials are a small fortune there too, although the variety is spectacular. I have seen the same grower's plant material at other places in the city for much less money, so be sure to check out other garden centers as well. The second reason I give Jayson only three stars is because of the sales staff. I have been visiting this place for years - way before they were in their current digs, and the staff used to be so so helpful and friendly. Now you'd be hard pressed to get a "hello" from any of them, let alone acting bothered when you ask a question. Bottom line: Fabulous place for unique gifts, but be prepared to break the bank! read more

A five minute telephone order with them turned into a joyous event for my daughter. An FTD florist left me high and dry on an order and these people responded and took the order and delivered within 2 hours. I called them at 2 PM and my daughter had the flowers at 4:15 PM. I cannot say enough about their service and the price was less than the FTD florist. This place will certainly become my "go to" florist in Chicagoland. They earned my respect and my business.
