I was very…read moreimpressed from the start, when I had signed up for a class just two hours before they were able to give me a call to discuss the first class I had signed up for. They also asked me further questions, like my fitness goals, history, and health status. Walking into the studio for my complimentary Foundations Class was a little nerve wrecking only because I was the only one signed up for the class! However, my instructor Julia, made me feel comfortable that it was just her and I this evening. The Foundations Class is the initial class you should take before jumping into the three other classes they offer. I still got a full body workout with the initial class, my legs were still shaking from the intensity, I left sweaty, but I do not feel overworked. I left my Foundations Class with a new membership to Pure Barre! I'll be here 3x a week, hopefully - wish me luck with my fitness journey, y'all!

Get there, and immediately not greeted, and with a straight face asked if I planned to get a membership today? I hadn't even worked out or toured the facility yet, so weird. And then finally, the man goes oh well it's 10 dollars to use the kids club then. I literally walked out and decided to just keep my membership at crunch.

The website is very informative, and that is what brought me towards this place. The instructors are professional and know what they're doing. They offer a variety if classes like acro, ballet, tap, jazz, and more. These classes are offered to children and adults. I pay $129 a month to take whatever classes my heart desires. I do enjoy that they have later classes that help with my work schedule since I get off so late from work. It is a nice spot to stretch, sweat, and meditate for a hour. You go in and work hard and come out feeling refreshed and motivated. They use to have a coffee spot inside but it's smoothie place now. I love that it's smoothies instead of coffee. I tried the island warrior and that was 10/10. You get a discount if you are a member of torch yoga. I will definitely be coming back for more smoothies.

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful thoughout our visit. The locker rooms are really nice, too. Very spacious center that seems to offer a lot for everyone. In the area? Because there were no photos or detailed descriptions of the event spaces, I stopped by in person to understand what would be possible. The front desk staff was kind and showed me around, and I found a room that felt like a great fit for a welcome gathering for the growing Working Families Party in Virginia. I submitted my request in late December. I expected things to move slowly because of the holidays, but when I hadn't heard back by January 5, I called to follow up. I was told my application had been received, everything looked good, and I received verbal confirmation that we could host the event pending one final approval. I followed up by email to confirm details and waited. After six days with no response, I followed up again by email. Two days later, I called and learned the Sales & Event Coordinator was out due to medical issues. That is completely understandable. However, since final approval was supposedly with someone above her, I didn't understand why no one else could give clarity. I even offered to share my contact information with the events director or whoever was responsible for final approval. Two days later, on a Friday afternoon, I received a call letting me know the event was not approved due to its political affiliation. I understand that not every organization allows political gatherings. What's frustrating is that this wasn't communicated upfront or handled quickly. Instead, I spent 21 days waiting for confirmation, only to be denied three weeks before my event, leaving me scrambling to find a new location for a Sunday afternoon gathering. If political events aren't allowed, that should be clearly stated on the website or addressed early in the review process. A simple, transparent policy would have saved me a lot of time and stress.

The staff also would call and ask me several questions about why I'm choosing this gym and just all kinds of unnecessary things in my opinion so I had to quit answering the calls. There's nothing wrong with selling but sheeshhh, the sales thirst is real here. When I arrived to my first class I was given the grand tour then I received my free pair of gloves which were in the color black. I wanted pink instead and had to pay 15$ extra for that. You will also need to purchase wraps for your hands. so keep that in mind. when you purchase the bundle, only the gloves will be free. Long story short, I made it to my first class and loved it. The instructors are really good, and take there time with you. But of course after completing my first class more sales pitching was pushed my way. I wish they would start trying to sell you the membership after your last class which makes sense because damn Pam, its my first class, can I try all 3 to determine whether I want to join or nah? What was more annoying was the membership fee which was a whopping 145$ per month for 12 months! With an initiation fee of 150! but if you sign up your first class (hence why they pitch the member ship to you so soon) the initiation fee will be brought down to 50$. I was sooo looking forward to getting a membership here. I really like this place, its a very fun way of working out compared to the gym but 145$ a month is not affordable for me. I used to belong to Title Boxing and there membership was only 74.99 so I came in expecting a price point of that nature not 145$. Oh well, back to the gym I go.

The "rule" is 5 min before class they lock the door and no entry, no exceptions. This "rule" is not in the contract but on a note on the front door that you can't read in the dark doorway. Drove 30 mins to be turned away; although the class had not begun and the person at the front had the time to explain the rule at the front door to my face after unlocking said door, she was unrelenting about the "rule". I'm new to the place so I'm very disappointed that this person felt so self empowered to enforce this "rule". Rude is an understatement ! Angry and frustrated is where I am. OMy name was on the class register that day so it's not like I was a random drop in. I have a 3 month contract that I WILL NOT BE RENEWING!!! BE FOREWARNED ABOUT JOINING THIS MILITANT PLACE AND PAYING A VERY STEEP MONTHLY FEE TO BE DENIES ACCESS TO SERVICES YOU PAID FOR! Bravo ILKB Chesapeake
