When I asked for her to move classes as any mom would whose child cries weekly to and from class, I was told no and kicked out for being too much trouble and questioning the owner. We paid for the year in full and have yet to have them agree to give us any of that money back. They act as if they are doing you a favor even though you pay dearly! This along with their poor technique, terrible organizational skills and lack of dance content makes it totally not worth all of the mistreatment of parents and children. Many better options out there!

I was actually told not to contact them again with questions or concerns unless it was a matter of safety. The instruction isn't great either. My daughter's tap dance was cut in half b/c the teacher ran out of time to teach it to them. Then half the class stood on stage in a line for 1 min NOT DANCING. When questioned, the owner/teacher said she did not have to explain herself. They also charged $50 for holiday costumes but bought at least half of them for $9.99. Halfway through the year, they moved locations and when the new location couldn't work for some people, they refused to refund the prepaid costume fees even though the costumes hadn't been ordered. Their new studio space is awful, too. The studios are separated by curtains so you can hear the class going on next to you and there is no waiting room. I never knew people like this existed. I'm just appalled.

Dancefx is a not-for-profit so they really rely on and commit to the community. Plus, they are SO AFFORDABLE! They've got a ton of classes and events coming up and they sell clothes there, as well so you can make your tutu and leotard dreams come true. If you've ever even thought about taking a dance lesson this is the place to go. All the instructors were amazing in showing us how to merengue! (Sp?) They teach all ages from 2.5 years and up, so there's no reason to be shy. They even have babysitting events so mom & dad can go out while the little ones get some energy out!

Some people are good at dancing, others (like my hubby) are not. Luckily, there's a place where…read moreboth types can have fun... Enter Dancefx. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty intimidated myself when we attended a Yelp Elite event at this place and our instructor, Emi, told us we would be learning how to do the merengue(I thought that was pie?). Ok, moving on... Emi was super friendly and didn't make any of us feel like we were too stiff to be there (thank God, I saw bullets streaming down hubby's face when we pulled into the parking lot). The event we attended was called Elites Get Coupled, which was appropriate given that it was almost Valentine's Day. Though my guy was totally nervous about this, I'm so glad we went! Emi, along with Lorien, taught us some merengue moves, and it turns out almost anyone can learn to dance. We felt pretty good about our abilities by the end of the event! Lorien brought in her all-girl hip-hop group (I think they're part of the Pin-Up Troupe?), and they were SO COOL... and talented, obviously. I could have watched these ladies perform all day!! Though they may have had me feeling like my new merengue moves were a little lame, at least now I know I have something to work towards... right? One of the best parts about Dancefx is the fact that they're a non-profit and donate to all kinds of local charities that support causes like fighting AIDS, helping the homeless and people with disabilities, and so on. I think it'd be such a thoughtful date idea to bring someone here and learn a couples dance! You get to know each other in a different way and can judge once and for all who's got better moves (I think we all know who won that dance off...wink wink). Plus, giving back to the community is icing on the cak--lemon meringue pie.

Tribe Fitness has changed everything I ever thought about working out. Honestly, it's changed my…read morelife. I know that sounds crazy, but let me explain. I've dealt with injuries my whole life. I love running outside, but it seems that my tendons and joints weren't able to handle it. I would end up with knee pain, Achilles' tendonitis, or a hamstring tear and have to stop running for a few weeks. Every time I would lose all my momentum. I could never succeed in a consistent running program, now matter how slowly I progressed through it. And of course, running indoors on the treadmill or elliptical is SO BORING! Trying to go consistently to the gym was impossible for me. I'd either end up injured or make excuses not to go. The solution to ALL of my problems was Tribe. I've never been to a gym that I've been EXCITED to go workout in with a staff that cares so much. Here's a few reasons why I love it. 1) Matt and Ruthie are absolutely AMAZING trainers. They always take the time to teach us how to do the workouts with proper form, and they watch us every second to make sure we maintain it. They constantly give helpful tips and tricks on how to lift safely (which is incredibly important). And the best part is that they're always so encouraging through the workout. They genuinely want you to succeed! 2) Tribe workouts are SO MUCH FUN!!!! Every time I finish a workout I can't WAIT to go again. Yes they're challenging and kick my butt, but you're only there for 45 minutes and the WODs are no more than 25 minutes. It makes it possible for you to push yourself for the entire workout. We do something different every day, so that means I'm always learning something new or improving on something. It works your brain and your body. I've never gotten bored in a Tribe workout! Plus nothing can describe the happiness I felt when I mastered kipping pull ups and double unders. 3) Tribe is for everyone. Seriously. The workouts are hard, but the trainers will scale down the weight or technique so it's just right for you, and you can progress and build as you get stronger and more comfortable. The first few weeks are tough because you're challenging your body in completely new ways, but once you get adjusted it feels AMAZING. I haven't run in 6 months and I was able to run an 8:47 minute mile (my fastest before was an 11:30 after 2 months of running, and then I got injured). Yowza! The workouts are always hard, but as you gain strength it becomes quite bearable and now, I absolutely love the intensity! 4) Finally, my favorite part: no injuries!!!!! I'm getting stronger every week, lifting more weight and reaching PR's, gaining muscle. It's made a huge difference. I've never been able to work out for 3 months straight, 3 times a week without getting injured. And now, I'm finally there. I'm never going back to a regular gym. Ever.
