Everything that follows is my personal opinion of the events on my wedding evening:…read more I cannot imagine a ruder, less-skilled DJ exists anywhere in the world. I went out of my way to edit a perfect playlist for my wedding. I took one of Scott's extensive playlists and edited it down to 170 songs we would like to hear. I also selected several songs which weren't on the playlist and asked that he have those songs before my wedding. I believe there was possibly an email mix-up at this point which is why these songs weren't available upon request. Regardless, I sent this information to him in a series of emails, weeks in advance. He responded to me and acknowledged that he'd understood what was sent to him. So imagine my surprise when, on the night of my wedding, he began to play modern pop and rap selections when every song on my list was an oldie. It took me several songs to realize he wasn't playing requests, he was just playing music that I had not included on my list. And I knew he must have seen the list because I sent it to him in an email a month early and because he responded to other emails. And my mother sent him the list as well, also a month early. I finally had to go over to him, take time out from MY night, to tell him to play music from the list I'd sent. And he replied, "I never got any list." HE RESPONDED TO MY EMAILS, which indicates to me that he obviously GOT THE LIST. Trying to keep my cool I simply asked him, "Well, please don't play anything from any time later than the 90s unless it's a request. Go back to playing from your oldie playlist." And you know what he did, right as I walked away? He started playing "Apple Bottom Jeans" right as I walked away. In my opinion, I cannot imagine more of a rude person. I can't understand why he decided ignoring me was the best course of action. How could he listen to me, the person who is PAYING him, tell him what music to play and then flat out ignore it? I was so offended at that moment and felt like he was terrible at his job. He had one job, to play the music I chose. He failed to do this simple thing. I can't even understand how he was, in my opinion, incapable of providing the service we requested. He also made awkward comments at my guests who were dancing through the microphone and believed that "ear numbingly loud" was a good volume for the music. In general, he was the worst possible DJ I could have imagined and I'd have done a better job with my iPod than he did for hundreds of dollars. His website promises not to be cheesy but this guy was nothing but cheese.

Jesse's expertise was especially valuable during our ceremony. We opted to use SE not just for music but for sound amplification as well. He equipped our officiant and my husband with lapel mics, which perfectly captured our vows. What really sets Jesse apart is his responsiveness, creativity, and calm, professional presence throughout the planning process. Prior to the ceremony, there's an online form to fill out that covers every possible base. What kinds of songs, any special details... There's so much there, neatly organized, and I was thankful for it. I'd never have thought about a lot of those! A couple weeks prior, JJ called to verify information and nail it all down so we could all be on the same page. The team is very thorough and I really appreciated all the time and effort Travis and JJ put into making sure we had everything planned out. JJ worked very well with not only us but the entire vendor team. He fit right in with the other vendors who already knew one another from working together so often. He listened to the crowd very well, playing a good variety of music. All of our guests complimented us on our musical selection whether they were younger or older, which says a lot! JJ chose fantastic oldies and classics before getting into the dance tunes (even tossing in a few hair band selections for yours truly). My travel-minded friends doubled over with laughter when JJ playing the National Geographic theme song to announce our honeymoon plans to Antarctica. Overall he did a wonderful job providing all the music to keep the celebration hopping all night! I would highly recommend JJ since we personally worked with him, but if JJ was that good, I can't imagine the others are bad. He is truly a professional...which is the main reason we went with them. Professional gear, demeanor, website, references...all of that! Dealing with Fonix was a breeze. They have an online system where you can fill out your 'application' and pick out the music and details you want. You can change on the fly and make changes at any point. This made everything very easy for us. We met with the Travis several times and had a final phone call a week before our event to discuss all the details. We chose to include Karaoke at the reception which was no problem for Fonix. They had a huge catalog to choose from the price was excellent. Travis was professionally dressed and did a great job managing the reception. He kept people on the dance floor, kept people at the karaoke station and just helped create a seamless transition from one event to the other. I would recommend these guys to anyone needing a DJ. In fact, they are the only ones I would recommend. Major kudos to Fonix!
