Needless to say, I wouldn't let them work on my car (As it turns out, the problem was a bad fuel pump). Instead, I had it towed to Rea Ford's Service Department in Monticello, who sent a tow truck from Monticello to Liberty to pick the car up. A New York State Trooper quickly responded and called for a tow truck, as the truck was obstructing traffic. Sam's Towing and Recovery responded and towed the truck with the tow dolly attached 7/10ths of a mile to their yard. They first attempted to charge me $356 (cash only), but after I complained to a New York State Police supervisor, they dropped it down to $324 (cash only). I find it outrageous that a tow truck company which is part of the New York State Police's Rotation Tow Program is allowed to rip off people who have the misfortune to break down on Route 17 in Sullivan County.

Anytime I called for a tow, Angel's prices have always beaten anyone else's. Sometimes by a lot. Most places charge a minimum of $200 these days regardless of how close you need them to go.
