Welcome to Harbor Gateway Transit Center…read more Located in that city I was born in, Gardena. Truly was not sure where I was, but it's a across from a Home Depot, no lights or real intersection, but a super hub for the LA Metro bus system, including the J Line (aka Silver). Just off the 110 Freeway, by the 91 and nearby the 405 on 182nd Street. I was pleasantly surprised to see they layout here. Easy to navigate, plenty of signs and like a lot of others have mentioned efficient. Times for frequency on weekends are the worst. It was giving, " All he cares about is school and his mom and his friends (and work)." Does the LA Metro not realize people like to enjoy the weekend also after a long hard week? Thankfully I wasn't going to much further from here and caught a ride over to Redondo Beach. The area is a little rough around the edges, but pretty updated and cleaned up where it counts. Definitely should be some safer walking and crossing areas, outside the Transit Center. Public restrooms are available. Parking is also available if commuting with roughly 1,000 spots. LA Metro workers often around and visible. Great way to get to events, work and functions. Hope times, frequencies and connections improve in the future. You can't predict traffic, incidents or human circumstances, but you (LA Metro) can plan better for transfers and smoother rides from point A to B on their end.

On weekday afternoons, there is a bus every 5 minutes. On weekends, they run every 15. We arrive back to the transit center after 10 pm at times and I never feel unsafe. A ride home if I have had a couple drinks is way cheaper than parking Downtown. It is also a quick bus ride to BMO Stadium and the Coliseum.

MAX is actually part of the Torrance Transit sytem but riding these buses is such a different experience from most Torrance Transit and other buses for that matter. The MAX buses (www.maxbus.com) operate from San Pedro to El Segundo, traveling through Manhattan Beach, Lomita, Palos Verdes, Hermosa, Carson, Gardena and Lawndale. They don't run as often as I'd like them too, but they are the cleanest buses you will ever see. Comfortable cushioned seats-i've never seen seats like these on a bus - with reading lights-unfrickin' heard of in LA, no crappy i pissed on the seats smell to them either-Big Blue Bus please take note of this. I'm waiting for a butler to come by or a passenger next to me to ask 'if I have any grey poupon'. MAX BUSES TO LAX: Take the #2 bus to the Aviation Green Line Station and hop a free 'G' bus to the Airport. I take this bus from time to time. And the bus driver takes the time to start a conversation with me. Now when she sees me riding my bike to work, she actually toots her horn and waves at me. I had a morning class at El Camino one summer; I was expecting to ride the Torrance #5 bus but no, a MAX bus came instead. I asked if this bus makes a stop at El Camino. She said with the most cherriest tone I have ever heard from a bus driver, "Yes! Hop on!" Wow. Never met such an enthusiastic driver! I took this route for the entire Summer school. Sometimes I'd miss the bus coming while I was reading my morning papers and they'd stop and wait for me. Then I'd say, "Oops! Sorry for taking so long, but thank you for waiting!" Wow. Another time I was so tired in the morning from waking at 6am (I'm a late & heavy sleeper) I'd nod off to sleep, then fall asleep right on the bench. The driver was nice enough to get off the bus and stroke me on the shoulder, so gently waking me up... unlike my actual mother who'd would pull the covers and slap me awake... Sometimes in the afternoon, I'd go straight to my friend's house in San Pedro from either the School or from my usual transfer point at Crenshaw & Pacific Coast. However there is a downside. It only operates in one direction per day. North bound in the morning then South bound in the afternoon.

I was trying to pay an account under my hubby's name, which has a credit card linked for auto pay, so we didn't realize when it went to negative balance, locking us out of online account to see what the problem was. So I had come by the office to pay. But it turns out if the if you're not the main account holder, you better be added, as an authorized user, to do anything on or for the account. They explained this to me, and I understood. I called my hubby, who was in a meeting and could not call in to add me as an authorized user right away, so I had to go back home. But they were still nice to me and I left making sure I shut the door gently behind me. I've come here a few times when things couldn't be solved online and each time, whether I get my issue solved or not, I feel treated kindly and fairly, which is everything I can ask for. I come mid mornings, and there is almost no wait either, and plenty of easy parking with easy access to the office.

I think this is a notable bus stop with a Fare Purchase Machine and should have its' own page. The address for this page's bus stop only has 1 bench, no covering, nothing. So much less here than the bus stop I was trying to add. ___________ This is by far one of Torrance's finer bus stops! I hope Torrance Transit renovates or enhances their other bus stops! Today was my first time to stop here. It was getting dark out and I was glad that it was nicely lit! I felt safe under the lights! I also liked the somewhat more comfortable benches and the roof that provides a little shade. There are message boards that scroll the time & other information. There is a bus stop across the street heading West. This one is Eastbound on Carson Street. This side is the one that has a machine to purchase your TAP Card (or reload it) or buy various other fares/passes. With all the pros I've written about, the one big con I have is that the Torrance Buses are not too punctual!! Generally, they are about 2-5 minutes late. I always arrive 5 minutes early to ensure I won't miss my bus because you know that one time you arrive on time, the bus will probably be early! You don't want to miss a Torrance Transit bus because they don't run as often as the DTLA ones! You can catch these bus lines from this Eastbound stop: 3, R3, 6, 7, and 9. Regardless of the punctuality or lack thereof, I will ride the bus when I need to. It's not that big of a deal and it doesn't cost much other than time and a few coins. Travel and wait times will eat up your time, but public transportation gives you time to do things other than stressing in traffic!

Great for getting to either of the Cerritos malls (Los Cerritos or Towne Center), a park, the senior center or to the library at the civic center. Fifty cents will get you anywhere and you'll always have a comfortable place to sit as they rarely get crowded. I find the bus drivers to be very friendly and personable - they give up a smile very easily - and from my experience they make safety a priority. The buses were recently upgraded to the one you see in the picture via federal grant monies. The buses run on natural gas, so they offer a more environmentally friendly form of public transit. The fare for a single trip anywhere in Cerritos is $0.50. The buses also offer monthly passes for $20.00. They have essentially two routes going in opposite loops around the city (meeting at the Cerritos Civic Center). From one end of town to the other end, say from CPE to the Cerritos mall, roughly takes almost an hour. So, if you have the patience, or don't have a car of your own, be prepared for a 45-1 hour commute. In the meantime, you'll be able to view Cerritos from a different perspective: sideways! The design of the rear of the buses are stylistic representations of various sites and landmarks of Cerritos. One may have a stylized image of the Cerritos Library, for example. Another may have one of the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. These are ways to keep track of the actual buses that you may have sat in, as there are about 8 total buses running around town. The only downside is that the buses don't run very late (after 9pm). But in all other respects, these buses run well and have pretty cool air conditioning (a must in hot and muggy summers).
