This review is for the Eastbound bus stop on Carson Street near Del Amo Circle E. Yelp decided to combine the stop I was trying to add with this one. I think this is a notable bus stop with a Fare Purchase Machine and should have its' own page. The address for this page's bus stop only has 1 bench, no covering, nothing. So much less here than the bus stop I was trying to add. ___________ This is by far one of Torrance's finer bus stops! I hope Torrance Transit renovates or enhances their other bus stops! Today was my first time to stop here. It was getting dark out and I was glad that it was nicely lit! I felt safe under the lights! I also liked the somewhat more comfortable benches and the roof that provides a little shade. There are message boards that scroll the time & other information. There is a bus stop across the street heading West. This one is Eastbound on Carson Street. This side is the one that has a machine to purchase your TAP Card (or reload it) or buy various other fares/passes. With all the pros I've written about, the one big con I have is that the Torrance Buses are not too punctual!! Generally, they are about 2-5 minutes late. I always arrive 5 minutes early to ensure I won't miss my bus because you know that one time you arrive on time, the bus will probably be early! You don't want to miss a Torrance Transit bus because they don't run as often as the DTLA ones! You can catch these bus lines from this Eastbound stop: 3, R3, 6, 7, and 9. Regardless of the punctuality or lack thereof, I will ride the bus when I need to. It's not that big of a deal and it doesn't cost much other than time and a few coins. Travel and wait times will eat up your time, but public transportation gives you time to do things other than stressing in traffic! read more

There are two bus drivers for Torrance 3 bus,one for the 7am route eastbound and the route right after. Both drivers have nasty attitudes,one of them brake checked the whole bus causing a couple riders hurting themselves she's usually yelling instead of talking. I've been living car-free for the past two years here in Torrance and have ridden the bus many times. I really want it to work and keep hoping improvements will be made but there are so many issues. The number one problem is frequency. If a bus only comes once an hour then running a simple errand will take up a big chunk of your day. Number 2 is safety. It's no secret LA has a homeless problem and Torrance is no exception. But homeless people congregate at bus stops. Some of them keep to themselves but all it takes is one mentally unstable one who acts aggressive to strike terror in the rest of us. I've had to call the police several times now due to feeling threatened at a stop by a hostile homeless person. This is unacceptable! Measures should be taken by the city to ensure rider safety. The next problem is the lack of routes. Why no bus on Del Amo Boulevard? Why no bus on Plaza del Amo, going to Madrona Marsh or Wilson Park? Honestly, I could go on and on but if Torrance ever wants to be a world class city then it needs to step up its bus game ASAP. read more

I agree with the others as far as it's either late or random scheduled ones just don't come or are really behind & just rush past stops because they are really late. In my case, it didn't come and no explanation or nothing. I normally walk, but my knee was killing me. But if I hobbled on home it would have been better than waiting for a bus that didn't arrive when it was supposed to. Well, you can count on the next scheduled bus to come after. Not always accurate that they run every 20-30 minutes. Talking to other riders, it appears to be commonly well known that they are always late and tracker isn't correct on arriving times. And as other riders have stated, as with all forms public transportation (except the higher priced), this one has a lot of transients, addicts, mentally ill and weirdos, which all seem like they're coming from the pier :(. There are a few working class, students, elderly & modest folk who mind their business riding it. I especially feel bad for the disabled persons that get left behind at times. I felt like for the price $1 I should be grateful and so two stars. Thank you Torrance Transit my mom loves it and is just happy we have a bus system. Used to be pretty reliable but it's late or doesn't even come some times. Has gone from great to not reliable any more. The drivers used to be wonderful but now it's all about them and their mood. Very Frustrating getting a bus ride to Redondo Pier and then finding out the bus schedule on the Transit app is not accurate. Green Fleet car informed us while waiting for a ride home that the bus would be there in a hour and half rather than 15 minutes as the app showed. Walked home 8 miles. The transit system was given a subsidy to run their buses for free during COVID-19. They have already been paid for by the government. They are taking two, three and even four buses in a row off the line When they take buses off the line they are stealing from the tax payers. When the bus fills up they drive past passengers waiting at stops. Many of them waiting well over an hour for that ride already. Rides are free right now so the homeless fill up the bus and ride in circles for the air-conditioning. I need the bus for work. Drivers pay starts at $14.00. I don't know what the folks below are squawking about. I've never had a bad incident with any of the drivers. The best ones lower the bus for me to put my bike on. They are courteous and I am courteous to them. Whenever one has been really late, they always give an explanation and are apologetic. People, be nice to the drivers and they will be nice to you. It's hell out there and how would you like driving all day in nasty traffic and then being verbally abused by riders. How would you put up with the amount of losers who board the bus and say "Hey, I ain't got any money, can I have a courtesy ride?" Tired of walking? Try jogging. read more

This is the worst public transit system in LA County. Torrance City Hall should be embarrassed to have such incompetent upper management run Torrance Transit. The 4x bus is a hit or miss to take each weekday. I was told by Torrance Transit to call each morning to see if the 4x bus will stop at Torrance and Crenshaw at 6:30 am. This is nonsense. Is this bus system perfect? No. But it's public transit and dirt cheap - in my opinion don't expect perfection. If you want exact drop off times take your car. The buses are sometimes 5-10 mins late. Usually not more than 5 mins but I have had a bus be 10 mins late before. Of course traffic is unpredictable in la so it's understandable. The #8 bus picks me up 3 blocks from home and drops me off in front of my office. Super convenient and now I don't need to drive to work and back. And the price is simply astounding. $1 full fare rides or .25 for disabled / sr citizens. Or you can get a monthly pass on one's tap card. I find the stored value option is cheaper for me. My monthly public transit cost to work is now under $10 per month - how can you complain about that? I Measure my expectations with public transit but overall Torrance transit is pretty great. If the buses were to have wifi and come more frequently during peak hours that would be a great enhancement. read more

I lucked out when I missed the LA Metro 910 bus from the LA Superior Courthouse and literally 2 minutes later the green Torrance Transit bus pulled up. Whaaat? What is Torrance Transit doing in downtown LA? Apparently, they take passengers to the Harbor Gateway Transit station! And your LA Metro Tap card works! Ride in clean, spacious, calm comfort. It seems to make a lot of the same stops as the 910 Silver Line, too. A great alternative if you get a chance to hop on. read more

I live in Pasadena and work in Torrance. I've tried taking public transit a few times, and 90% of the trip (from Pasadena to Artesia Transit Center), on Metro buses and rail, is great... if that was my total commute, I'd do it regularly. Unfortunately, the last 10% of the trip is on Torrance Transit. The buses themselves are fine, I guess. Not nearly as nice as the Silver Line buses I'm transferring from. But the buses (at least the 1 line, which is what I need to take to get to work) only runs like every 45 minutes. And they never stick to their published schedule. So when I arrive at Artesia Transit Center it's a crapshoot whether or not my bus will show up when scheduled, or half an hour late. I can't afford to be half an hour late to work. They're also WAY behind the times when it comes to technology: they don't accept TAP, there's no real-time arrival info, etc. I seriously wish they'd just abandon their routes and let Metro take them over. They do such a better job! read more

This bus system is pretty decent. I have taken it throughout the South Bay and it is cheap...only .50 cents. I only have one complaint and it is kind of a big one. Ehh... I use #5 going to El Camino more than anything else. It's an okay service, not the best, not the worst. I just wish the bus would be a bit more clean... It's not 50 cents any more, it's $1 with and ridiculously expensive transfer: 40 cents. Unless you're a college, or K-12 student, you pay only 50 cents... oh well. The bus stays coming late or thie buses sometimes don't run on thier real schedule it's not ok becuase some buses run every hour and some don't come till the next 2 hours especially the 4x these buses are unreliable when it comes to trying to get somewhere on time but I'm greatly that they atleast run so that's why it gets 2 stars read more

This has to be the most poorly run bus system in all of Los Angeles. Do not be fooled by the schedule that they post, as the odds are 50-50 at best that the bus you need will arrive. If you complain to them, they will give you a song and dance about how they are short on drivers and you should rely on the Transit app for actual bus times. Most of the time, when I do check the Transit app, it states that the next Torrance bus is due in about 2 1/2 hours. As the only bus line that runs down Crenshaw south of Artesia, I will likely lose my job because I have no reliable way to get to work. I have already had to call out sick several times because the bus didn't show up, and have three times had to walk home from PCH to Manhattan Beach Blvd. They clearly have no idea how to operate bus service, so they should give up their routes to either MTA or Gardena. They may blame a lack of drivers, but it is clearly the upper management who need to be replaced with competent employees. read more

why even list a 7 am bus on the 5 line if you're just going to cancel it every single morning? i am almost always late to my 8:30 am el camino class because the 8 am is almost always late. also had an experience the other day where they cancelled all the line 3 buses after 6:15 pm with everyone scrambling to cram into the final bus of the evening. got off the bus to encounter a young man trying to get home from torrance high school on the 5 and i had to regretfully let him know that his bus had been cancelled too. if this bus line isn't motivation to confine to the american car reliant transportation system, then i don't know what is. read more

Torrance bus are pretty convenient, most lines are every 30 mins or less on weekdays and 1 per hour on weekend. Torrance is in the middle of replacing most of the bus vehicles so you might see some old White and Red/Orange ones vs some Blue and Green ones on the road. Bus fare is $1 one way local and from what I seen so far, the bus is pretty clean and drivers are pretty on time +/- 10 mins of schedule. read more

I take the Torrance Transit quite often to El Camino College. The #2 Route, to be exact. It's okay, but like someone above said, they are either SUPER EARLY, RIGHT ON TIME (I mean, EXACTLY on time), and anything after that, you can expect the bus to be at least 10 minutes late. I take this bus Monday-Friday, going and coming from school, so the student discount of only paying 50 cents per trip is a good deal! It's a great bus service. Sometimes you get the new bus (super clean, smells fresher on the inside than outside with all that polluted air in Torrance!) or you get the really old, red, brick-like bus which I really don't care about, anyway! The bus is the bus. I took off two stars, one for each fault as follows: The way the bus schedule runs is crazy! Going to school, anytime AFTER the 9 o'clock bus, you can bet the bus will not be on time. Coming from school, anything after the 12 o'clock bus, you've got an extra 10-20 minutes wait. I'm guessing it's because of the traffic that they get coming down from the 110 Freeway or the Del Amo Fashion Center. I believe all of this can be solved if they would just CHANGE the schedule! I and A LOT of other students want the bus to run EVERY OTHER THIRTY MINUTES. I've discussed this with a bus driver before and he said it was because there are only three busses and they keep trying to tell them to add one more and they will be able to run every 30 minutes. This could change the game in so many ways: 1.) Less of a hassle to get to my class. If my class starts at 9 in the morning, I most definitely won't catch the 9 o'clock bus! I have to catch the bus an hour ahead of time. I use this time wisely to study, but sometimes there isn't anything to do at school and the idea of catching an 8:30 bus to get to a class at 9:00 or even 9:15 would be perfect in most cases! 2.) It would sure be less of a hassle for the bus drivers as well! Imagine having to drive all the way downtown Los Angeles to The Del Amo Mall, excluding the fact that you can't take any other route given you are driving a bus. Oh, and let's not forget that there is traffic, and people to pick up at each stop and speed limits to maintain. Never ever use Torrance Transit if you need to be somewhere at a certain time. I used take the 10 bus to El Camino to save on gas and wear and tear on my car but I'm forced to drive now because the bus never fails to be at least 10 minutes late EVERY TIME. I understand that there are things out of the driver's control but come on, if the buses are late on a consistent basis don't you think they should change the schedule if they can't meet its times? read more

Today was my first day riding the Torrance bus. I had to drop my car off at the shop and I needed to get to work. I thought it would be great to take the #8 bus since it drops me off right in front of my building at work. I got lucky in catching the morning bus. It just so happened that the bus driver had to let someone off. Otherwise I would have missed the bus and had to wait another 30 mins. The time point stops are so far between (30 mins between D and E on the time table!), that it was hard to tell what time my bus would arrive. When it came time to get off the bus, I rang the bell to request a stop. The driver didn't even notice and proceeded to pass my stop. I had to holler at her for her to stop. She did apologize though. Then, after work, I waited for the bus. Again, who knows what time the bus will come by because the timed stops are 30 min between D and E. So I was at my bus stop at 4pm (way early, but I didn't want to miss my bus b/c I had to get to the shop before closing time) because that was what time the bus was leaving LAX Transit Center (E on the schedule). So I'm waiting and waiting, looking for the same white bus with red trim that I took in the morning. Around 4:18, I see a dark green bus with yellow accents. It's going pretty fast, and not even in the right hand lane. I see that it's a #8 bus. I wonder if that is my bus, I thought to myself as I stood at the bus stop. As the bus passes by me, I see "Torrance Transit" on the bus. WHAT!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THE BUS DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO STOP WHEN THERE IS A PERSON STANDING AT THE BUS STOP!!!!! On top of that, why is the bus a totally different color??? Maybe if it was the same white bus with red trim that I took in the morning, I would have recognized it in the distance, and jumped up and down to flag down the speeding bus. I am FURIOUS!! No wonder people would rather not take the bus. I happen to take the bus a lot on the westside. Luckily for me, I have better options. The Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, Culver City Bus, and the LA Metro buses are way better. I would give them 1 star, but as much as I dislike them, bus systems are good in general. I like to promote a green lifestyle, but it can sure be difficult. read more

I love these buses for several reasons: 1)They run about every 15 minutes from Redondo Beach Pier to Del Amo Mall. If you live in South Redondo and you want to go to Del Amo Mall during the day-this is your bus. 2)They're clean-they don't smell like someone has pissed in them. 3)Cheap-50 cents vs $4 a gallon for gas-it doesn't get anymore affordable than this. 4)They are safer than driving to the mall. 5)I like the walk through my neighborhood to get to them. You can throw a bike on them too. Leaving the driving to them instead of stressing yourself out. CONS: After around 7:00PM they don't come as often. They go pretty close to some movie theaters but you'll be waiting forever for one of these busses to pick you up late at night on the weekends. Otherwise they're cool. read more

I am a person who is physically challenged. I travel with a service animal. As I was trying to board the bus the person in front of me told me I couldn't bring my dog on the bus. I waited for the driver to say something to her. He was less then two feet away. He said nothing, so in order for me and my Pup to get on board I told the woman off and boarded. Despite physical limitations I walked to the back of the bus in order to put as much distance between myself and my problem as possible. For 5 to 10 minutes I had to deal with the lady and her friend saying things about me and my furry friend. As my stop approached I moved up to the front of the bus. The women continued their harassment... So I told them off, really told them off. The bus driver yells at me telling me to shut up. The women keep it up and now a large man joins in complaining, telling me i'm rude for the way I'm dealing with my problem. I tell him to mind his business and the driver yells at me again. The large man tells me he's going to punch my dog on the nose. As i'm telling him off another man chimes in "You're not disabled, you're to pretty" .... So i'm now getting harassed by 4 people, and again the driver yells at me. The driver stops the bus and calls the police and his supervisor. The supervisor kicked me off the bus. Forcing a person (me) with two rebuilt shoulders, a rebuilt spine, & five major brain injuries to walk the rest of the way to my appointment. The cops apologized, told me their was nothing they could do. They got me the supervisors card and we all went on our way. After my appointment was over I called the supervisor (Kim Turner 1(310)618-6245) and ask her if she was comfortable with her decision. Informing her all I wanter was an apology from her for kicking me off the bus, and an apology from the driver for not standing up for my rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act. She said she would do no such thing. So now i'm doing my best to get my story out. In short, if your looking to be attacked and threatened. If you're looking for 100% complacent drivers. Failure from management on down. Give Torrance Transit a try. read more

New Torrance Transit routes have destroyed a great public transportation system into the worst. What used to take me 10 minutes to travel from Lomita to Torrance, now takes me 1 hour and 20 minutes. It also cost more because I have to transfer buses. I ride a bike and had to wait 2 hours and 30 minutes because the bus that came did not have space for my bike. I do not recommend using this bus at all! read more
