I kept seeing Flyers Academy ads all over advertising multi rating in 5 days, so I started looking…read moreinto getting my multi done. I called around to quite a few schools and most were booked out a month or two, which actually worked out because I still needed to finish my instrument rating. Unfortunately, after my instructor left, things kind of stalled out. I wasn't making any progress, so I called Flyers Academy and explained my situation--that I needed to get my instrument completed and wanted to move right into my multi. Omar, the owner, called me a few hours later saying we can get it done now. They were able to squeeze me in, get my instrument wrapped up, schedule a checkride, then roll right into my multi and another checkride. It was a lot of work and definitely an intense 10 days, but the entire crew was incredible. From the moment I arrived, Omar made sure I was taken care of. The operation is extremely well organized, the airplanes were clean and well maintained, and everything worked exactly as it should. The instructors genuinely care about your success and put in long days to make sure you're prepared. Most days started around 7 or 8 in the morning and went until 10 at night. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me along the way--Sam, Sunny, Mike, Dom, and especially Vivian. Vivian was an outstanding instructor and went above and beyond every day to make sure I understood everything and was fully prepared. I honestly can't say enough good things about her. Seriously, thank you again Vivian. If you're serious about getting ratings done and are willing to put in the work, I highly recommend Flyers Academy. They also have great and clean accommodations for anyone traveling in, including space if you're staying in a van, which was a huge plus for me. Thank you again to the entire Flyers Academy team. I'm incredibly relieved to have everything completed, and I'll definitely be back for my next ratings.

For the past 60 days I have been researching flight schools in the bay area to obtain my sport…read morepilot license. Not every flight school in the area offers this new, exciting, limited license and I am very thankful that Red Sky Aviation offers it. I had a few e-Mail conversations with Red Sky including speaking with the owner Bob. This past weekend my wife and I visited the flight school and I spoke with Laura who is the daughter of the owner. She was nice and helpful and made arrangements for me to speak with a former student and my prospective flight instructor Pete. I was so happy Red Sky quickly connected me both with their former student and flight instructor. A company that says what they will do and actually deliver are already leap years ahead of many. Pete my future flight instructor sounded great! We had a very nice phone conversation and he seems to fit my ideal profile of a teacher perfectly. I live near San Jose and while Livermore can be a Bay area traffic h*ll of a destination depending on the time of day, I am looking very forward to begin my training with Pete on the Aeronca Champion at Red Sky Aviation!

My situation at CFI Academy was very unique, so I cannot fairly assess how other's experience with…read moreCFI will be. What I can attest to is that Prince does an exceptional job at instructing his students, to a degree that you will learn how to study concepts yourself at a much deeper level. My greatest takeaway from CFI Academy was learning the why behind all the private/commercial pilot concepts, rather than just teaching what you were taught/the way you were taught. On the financial side, Prince and Fadi have been more than fair and accommodating due to my unique situation (the school was in the process of obtaining its examining authority and I was switching from Part 61 to 141 in the middle of my training, I had to pause training for a few weeks, etc.). In my assessment from getting to know them over the last few months, they are just running a business, and I think if you come to them with an attitude that's hard to work with, you're less likely to get financial accommodations or even come out the other side with your CFI certificate in your timeframe. If you come with a humble and teachable attitude (which I would argue is key to being a CFI to begin with), give yourself time, and come prepared, you'll be just as successful here as anywhere else. I see no reason why Prince or anyone else here should stop you from your aspiration of being a CFI. I find it odd that some people think he does, when he runs a business to do just the opposite. He's been nothing but supportive of me and even takes the time on his breaks to offer words of encouragement/advice. And I think brutal honesty, one of his trademarks, is important to be confronted with in an industry like aviation. If all training went the way YOU wanted and came easy to you, I think you're less prepared as a pilot for the unique challenges that will arise when training students and when working in a multi-crew cockpit. While I have never questioned the airworthiness of the aircraft I used, maintenance had trouble keeping the planes in the sky consistently. I point this out not as a safety issue but as more of a logistical issue, because I know the school takes maintenance and airworthiness seriously. It was frustrating at times having to cancel flights due to maintenance issues, but I doubt this will be a problem for future students (at the time they were solving a large scale issue with one of their other planes, so they were short a plane already when I got there). I also saw those experiences as more real-world training for catching issues in preflight and in understanding maintenance practices (which are both highly relevant to CFIs anyway). The key is being teachable, as I said before. As for the validity of the website's claims, I think for me one month for CFI and CFII is very optimistic. But if I look at the school as just any other school, with no timeline or guaranteed finish date, I learned more from my experiences, good and bad, than I would have at any other school, and the key really comes down to your dedication and attitude. Prince does a great job teaching, his CFIs are communicative and qualified, and the planes will run when maintenance clears them. Use the bad experiences as learning opportunities, not inconveniences that someone should take the blame for, and you'll find that you can work with almost anybody to find the best solution. I found the best solution at CFI Academy.

Like many others, I found CFI Academy in Lodi California through online advertising on Instagram or…read moreFacebook. The promise of an accelerated path to your next pilot certificate is very appealing. Their website is clean, professional, and well-designed, and the process of enrolling (including the $500 deposit, full payment upon arrival, and contract signing) is completely standard in the flight training world, I've run a flight school myself and understand that. However, I'll be honest .. when I arrived, I was surprised. The facilities do not match the polished online presence. The main office is literally a rented shipping container. The classroom space is small and located in a corner of an aging airport. The aircraft are rough around the edges, cosmetically unkempt and well-used. If you've been dreaming of a large, corporate-style flight academy with brand-new aircraft and luxurious facilities, this is not that place. But here's what matters most: these are good, honest people who do exactly what they say they will do. They work hard. They care about your success. They maintain their aircraft properly. I reviewed the logs personally and can tell you that maintenance is up-to-date, thorough, and in order. These airplanes may not be pretty, but they're airworthy, legal, and reliable. I saw multiple students pass their CFI checkrides while I was there. I saw a team that hustled to prep airplanes and support their students. I experienced people who treated me like family, even though I was only there for a week. No one asked me to write this review. No one offered me a deal or discount. I'm writing this because I know how rare it is to read honest feedback, especially from people who didn't have a negative agenda. If you come here with realistic expectations, ready to work, ready to stay focused, and ready to be part of a small but growing community, I believe you will succeed. This is a no-frills, work-hard kind of place. It's humble beginnings. But it's also real people doing real training with integrity. CFI Academy will be what you make of it, bring positive energy, a good attitude, and a willingness to grind, and you'll leave here better for it.
