I went to JC Male quite a few times and enjoyed the cut I was given. However after 2 haircuts in a row where my time wasn't respected, I decided to move on. I had been seeing Seth and he does a great job with cutting hair. With my work schedule, it was easier for me to go on a lunch break. He was usually on time but then I went and he was a few minutes late, ok I get it. The next (and last) time I went, I sat for over 20 minutes waiting on him while watching him have a conversation with the guy in the chair. They were done, just talking. I was not acknowledged. When I finally got to the chair, no apology. I said I was about to leave since I had to get back to work and still no apology but was told about how that guy was a president of his own suntan lotion company or something. OK great, but now you're 20 mins late and waiting to cut my hair to tell me about suntan lotion. The conversation was overall awkward during that haircut which made me decide I needed to start my hunt again. If you aren't in a rush then I think JC Male does a nice job, but don't go if you need to be somewhere or back to work on time. read more

Solid spot for a haircut or beard trim. I've tried the chain barbers around town (Great Clips, Sport Clips, etc.) and this place is a much better option. You might pay a little bit more but the service and overall experience is much better. Definitely worth the price. read more

I have attempted to trim my own hair over the past few years. Before that I would go to some random haircutting place. Although I got pretty good at cutting my own hair after about a week my hair would look all nappy. Well my Brother recommended JC Male & I must admit it was kinda pricy. But it was for a whole hour. So my bro said, "trust me you deserve it".(Never ever have I been to a barber before in my life) I Booked the appaintment. Kevin C was the one that got me. So I must say, MY VISIT WAS SO WORTH IT! Twice, I have called for an appointment, and have been told, "Go online, to sign up, and you will be assigned the next available stylist." WHAT? I CALL for personal service, and you can't be bothered to respond? The first time, was well before the pandemic. Also, I e-mailed you once - NO response. Listen. It is NOT "sophisticated" to treat potential customers in this manner. It is low class. If you want to charge high rates, then provide the full experience. First class service is NOT asking potential customers to "go to our web page." Seriously, I know that this is Johnson City, but even the hair places in the MALL treat a person better. Danny did an awesome job and I can honestly say after visiting tons of barbers over the years, this is beyond the best haircut I have ever gotten. For anyone who says it's overpriced, go get your basic haircut at great clips. My cut and beard took an hour and a half of quality work, so $45 for both was not bad at all. Online booking was very easy and I was able to get an appointment the day of. If you don't like that they don't answer the phone, respect that they are taking clients one after another. Cool spot! I believe they are by appointment only? Me, I've got a crazy schedule so it's hard for me to know when I would get a time frame specifically slotted for something like a hair cut. I know for many guys, haircuts ARE a priority... it just isn't for me anymore as I no longer have that luxury. I finally was able to make myself an appointment as I was download having a late lunch with some friends. My appointment was with Jason, though I'm sure you can't go wrong with anyone there. The care and time he spent on the haircut was very meticulous. Can definitely tell he takes his skill set seriously and proudly. Just like a true barber. I was very pleased with the fine tuned experience, and will sneak my way back in again once I find myself being able to. $25 was the tab, and I personally feel that for what you get, it's a bargain. In bigger cities, specialized barber shops are easily $40+ for just basic cleanup. Too bad I can't really refer anybody here because most guys who are particular about their hair already have their go to barber, but if you're in limbo or new to the area, definitely check them out! read more

Kenny Kiser is the man. We took my two-year old son here for his very first haircut and Kenny is a natural with kids. It wasn't long before my son was laughing and having a good time. Kenny did an excellent job and my son has gotten lots of compliments. Because it was his first cut, it was on the house. That was a nice surprise. We enjoyed our experience here so much that I decided to get my hair cut here a week later. Kenny made me feel like a million bucks and was very attentive to the look I was wanting. He's a real pro, and I'm very happy with the results. Looking forward to going back in a few weeks. My son and I have had our hair cut here by Austin and he does a great job. Recently on a Saturday we went in at just a few minutes after 2 and there was a wait. They close at 3. We were told they could not cut our hair since they were closing. That is fine but I am a firm believer if you are in a business 50 minutes before closing, they should accommodate the customer. Normally charges $14 for a regular cut, but sometimes if they seem popular (if theres a couple people waiting) or they just think you'll fall for it, they will insist that it's $18 $19 or $20 a cut. Their pretentiousness and arrogance just lost them a customer. read more

I have been going to JC Male for the past 3 years and can say hands down it is the best barber shop in Johnson City and the best barber shop I have been to in my life. Sadly, I will be moving away in less than a year and it will be near impossible to find a replacement of the same caliber. The barbers here really enjoy their craft and are always on the cutting edge of technique and style. I personally go to Kenny but I have been cut by Chase as well and have observed other high quality cuts come from the other guys as well. What I really appreciate is how they take their time to make sure everything is perfect and exactly how you want. I will say the walk-in wait time can get a little long but that is because of their popularity. However, they recently moved to downtown Johnson City and have expanded their staff so the wait should decrease but the quality will never go down. I was in search of a new barber and picked this one based on proximity to my office. It proved to be a great find. It is inside Lifestyles Fitness, but no problem to get through the gym. I can only assume that this business relies on appointments for most of what they do. However when two chairs open up and are left vacant for 10 to 15 minutes I believe that is more than enough time to take care of A walk in. One employee completely disappeared upon finishing with his customer while the other turned his attention to his own hair. Needless to say I would never recommend Them nor will I ever be back due to the lack of professionalism and attention to the customer. read more
