Specifically Sandra ( Eyebrow Tech) I've been going to her for quite sometime now and I always leave beyond grateful. Getting eyebrows and faced wax with her is one of the best experiences I've had. She is super gentle that you honestly don't feel any form of discomfort during your service. She's super attentive so that is always a big bonus. Now two of the other ladies that helped me out was Suzette and Kaycie both were attentive and were able to answer some of my questions on certain products. Their prices are ridiculous now. This is not an upscale salon obviously, so they limit it to cut and wash, no extra care , there is no blow dry or hair styling after you cut. Yet they want to charge high prices like a fancy salon. No go somewhere else for you hair cut. If all you need is 2 inches trim straight cut, they still will charge as if it was full cut. I want to comment on Linda specifically on this review. I was in a bind and really needed my daughters hair trimmed (She's almost 13). Salon was almost closing and Linda was kind enough to take us in. She not only took us in but she did it with the most amazing attitude and made my daughter and I both feel welcomed and safe that she wouldn't rush her work and give my daughter the best she deserved! My daughter felt it too and told me she wants Linda to continue to do her hair. The person who cut my hair was very nice; however, did not listen to me. When I walked in, I asked for a trim of 1 to 1.5 inches off. They easily cut off 4 inches, which is not what I wanted. My bangs were not cut properly either, to the point where after 20 years I have chosen to no longer have bangs because I cannot work with what they left me. read more

On a whim, my son and I went for haircuts. Not sure where to go as our previous hairdresser retired. We were pleasantly greeted by Toni. My son and I had super long and crazy hair. Toni was able to tame our hair. She cut my son's hair in a way that gave it great definition. She was able to work with his waves and it just came out great! He was very happy with his new do. My hair was desperately in need of some love. Toni gave me a conditioning treatment and cut my hair especially cutting it in a way to add volume. My hair came back to life when she was done! I would recommend JCP Salon for COLORING I guess, BUT this person was NOT good for cutting and styling already "short" hair. I was very disappointed as I was going to a very special occasion, and once I left the salon and saw my hair it looked very plain and like a shredded rag. Even after showing her the picture she didn't even TRY to accomplish that look, it was nowhere near that, AND the style she conjured up did not hold. My hair looked like a flat shredded rag in pictures people sent to me! and on my daughter's wedding day!! Also, they told me "after" they colored my hair that the cost would be $100 more than originally quoted. What if I didn't have that money. I had an idea it would cost more because I changed from my original idea but not $100 more!! They should've told me they would charge me $100 more when the final decision on color was made "before" they touched my hair, not as Im sitting down being put under the hair dryer with the color already on. Getting back to the style, she did not shape my hair, and the direction of the ends of my hair were completely opposite of the picture I showed her. I trusted her for my daughter's wedding day and it was such a sloppy job. It was like she totally ignored the picture or else she didn't know how to do it. At one point I had to tell her to please add volume to my crown. She knew this was going to be a special occasion and pictures would be taken. I was so disappointed for my special occasion and pictures, that I had to post this. I was so sad not looking my best for pictures. My daughter's wedding day!!!! A Mother of the Bride should be at her best! I wasted $200 trying to look nice for a very special day in my life and cannot turn back the time. My hair looked terrible and sloppy only after a couple hours after getting my hair done! Needless to say how upset I was when I saw the pictures!! I won't mention her name because I don't want anybody to have doubts about her, she needs to become more knowledgeable, and if she reads this she will know its pertaining to her. Just be careful if you have short hair and want it to look trendy and well shaped, and the style YOU want, and the finished style doesn't look like a shredded rag, be very careful what stylist you choose. I thought by going to a little higher end salon like JCP that the results would be even better but boy was I wrong! I went back to my regular stylist who works at a well known lower end chain of salons and she fixed it for me and shaped it into the style I wanted. I really regret that I went to JCP and wasted a lot of money for unacceptable results for a special day. read more

You call and no one answers, you have to leave a message on the voice message machine, yes- I believe it's a machine. They won't call you back and when you come into the location they say that the phone system's been down. Well, now it's been about a year and I'm still not getting a return phone call. I had a conversation briefly with the manager there and she confirmed she got the call. Do they not want business? I'm confused, the only thing I can think of is that they get paid an hourly wage, if they work hard on someone's hair or have to do a cut that minuses from their hourly rate so why even work if they're hourly rate is probably more than a total service. I'm just guessing here but it sounds pretty valid. Don't waste your time even though there's a gentleman there that's an excellent stylist, I hope he will relocate somewhere else where he can be valued for his excellence in hair color and cut. read more

This is based on my first experience at this Salon. I wanted a simple blow dry for a wedding reception I was attending, and last minute decided to go to the JCPenney Salon as my mom had been here before and had a good experience. However, I was paired with someone who was very much a beginner and still learning how to do hair. I started to notice that she used a flat brush while blow drying my hair. Only causing my hair to be very frizzy. Also after my HAIR GOT CAUGHT IN THE BLOW DRYER. I kept calm and asked her to maybe use a round brush instead as many of my previous hair stylists at MANY other salons in OC and abroad have done. She was nice enough to do so. She was interrupted by a older man who was telling her to dry my hair out completely with the flat brush and then use the round brush with the blow dryer as the "heat is what makes your hair smooth and shiny" and of course I had to trust him because "[I] don't know what I'm taking about" and he has "45 years of experience". PSH more like he's OUTDATED techniques. That is more time my hair spends with the heat than actually styling it out straight. When she was done with my hair it looked like I did my own hair. I wouldn't have come to a salon to pay someone to do that kind of work. The blow dryer was SO close if not directly on my hair by both people. I could feel the heat on my scalp and hair and wanted to cry as I had been working so hard to grow out my hair and keep it healthy. The older man who came over to show the stylists some techniques helped to smooth out my hair but the way he used the brush hurt and again can feel the heat on my scalp. I guess you can say you get what you pay for. I voiced my feelings to another girl who rang me up. She was kind enough to listen to my experience, and called the manager over who also listened to me. They covered 20% of the service and gave me a free conditioning treatment. It's not about getting something out of the experience, but what can be learned from it. I hope that they upgrade their stylists and vet them a little better before hiring. If they have someone new, then I hope they are supervised with a more experienced person, but an experienced person who actually know what they are doing and know better techniques. Maybe one day I'll go back to redeem to free treatment, but that might take some time, and I will come back to this review and see how and if anything has changed. read more

Tiffany gave me the shampoo+haircut for $32. The manager of the salon was at the front desk when I arrived and was very professional--didn't make me feel bad for not wanting one of the more expensive stylists. I brought a picture to show how I wanted layers in my hair, and was very happy with the results. Also, Tiffany showed me a sustainable way to add more body to the layers by brushing with a cylindrical brush when I blow-dry wet hair. The whole experience was relaxing, and at the end the stylists had me pose behind a festive cardboard Christmas picture frame to take a picture of the back of my hair. I highly recommend Tiffany for trimming and styling long hair. I plan to use her again when I return. Note: JcPenney Salon also offers an "express cut" for I believe $22 that features a cut, but no shampoo. read more

I went in before Thanksgiving and he did a beautiful trim and he expLained to me that he was shaping my hair and that the next time I come in he wanted to do some layers in the front but at this time he couldn't do it because my hair was too short and he was afraid I wouldn't love it. Completely honest, very understanding, but most of all extremely conscious and wanting my happiness. So, I got a nice trim, blow out and was on my way. Now this time I came in, he was overjoyed to see me and explained what he wanted to do. I agreed and I am elated!!!! I drive from the San Fernando Valley just to see him. I followed Toni all the way from Westminster mall, simply because she understands my hair and always gives me what I am looking for. I first met Toni at Westminster mall when she approached my mom and I as we were doing some shopping. At the time my hair was in a horrible state and pretty much dead. Toni took a look at it and mentioned a $15 treatment that'll help being my hair back to life. I made an appointment for a few days later and went back. OMG was toni right!! All it took was one treatment and my hair literally came back to life! After that I knew I could trust Toni with my hair. Don't even think twice about making an appointment with her. This review is for Toni's customer service, not hair service. First of all, Toni is a smoker and does what many smokers do, and tries to cover up the smell with heavily scented lotions. After the consult my hair smells like an ashtray and I have a major headache. I can't imagine how I'd feel if she had actually done my hair. You should never come to work smelling like cigarette smoke if you're going to be in close proximity or touching a client. Gross! Second, I'm not sure she's familiar with current color trends at all. I had preselected several photos to show her of what i wanted: classic blonde balayage. I told her that I wanted to keep my current level blonde, just toned, warm up the root, and add that same warm depth throughout. She told me that's not what it was (it was), and did I want her to do highlights. I showed her the photos again, how the technique is more "painted", with larger amounts of hair, not like traditional highlights. She asked me if I wanted her to foil it. I explained again that I didn't like the harshness of foils, that I prefer the painted look for more natural looking depth. She said ok, I can paint the bleach in STRIPES up to the hair line. I repeated that I don't like harsh lines, and that I wanted a shadow root (I had already explained that I don't have time to get my hair done very often, and needed the shadow root to buy time between colorings.) I had 5 or 6 photos to show her, and she kept telling me that she couldn't do any thing like any of them because she didn't want to bleach my hair anymore. I repeated that I didn't need my hair lightened, it's already a level 9, it just needs to be toned. And then she went back to talking about foils vs painting stripes. She kept fixating on needing to bleach but not wanting to bleach, instead of what I actually wanted, which was added dimension. I said something about getting nervous and that we weren't speaking the same language. She then said, "yes, if you're nervous you should see someone else. I like to make money, but maybe someone who's here later than me can help you. I'll go ask the other girl, because I have to leave soon". She took my phone, showed someone else, and then walked back to tell me she didn't want to bleach my hair either." I again repeated that's not what I wanted, and she took of with my phone to show someone else, and then came back and told me no one was available and she didn't have time. Wtf? Then why did you book the appointment? I have an extremely busy and unpredictable schedule, which is the only reason I tried to talk her through what I needed, because it was a rare moment that I actually had time to have my hair done. She was completely unprofessional and wasted a large chunk of my time. If you're going to book an appointment here, I highly recommend you try someone other than Toni. There's a reason why she's available. read more

I have had some horrible experiences with hair cuts. I came in here with my husband one day and they were very friendly and compassionate. The lady at the front desk really took the time to hear my concerns and selected one of their best stylists for me. I asked for a stylist that can work with long hair and wont butcher it. Then the stylist came over to me her name is Tamar, I love her work and I have been seeing her ever since. She took off all the damaged hair and put some kind of conditioning hair treatment and colored it. I thought it looked fantastic and my husband couldn't be happier. She takes care of me and I take care of her, I give her big tips. Trimming is key to healthy hair and helps it grow faster. I was also very proactive I bought the vitamin Biotin for hair and nail growth and a hair treatment called Phyto to prevent damage. I am so much happier with my hair now more than ever and I owe it all to Tamar, the vitamins, treatment and my hubby. read more

Ok so the write ups in here are kinda unfair because there are a bunch of different hair stylists at this one Salon. I for one and writing about Celeste. She gave my wife a fantastic cut and color and she was very happy about it. Five stars all the way for making my wife happy! The prices were great considering its a full salon, I even got my hair trimmed cuz it was getting a little out of control. If you're looking for someone good ask for Celeste, and you'll be super happy. I've been coming here faithfully every 2-3 weeks for the last 3 years and let me just tell you Sandra is the best with eyebrow waxing. I absolutely love her. When I called to schedule my appt they set me up with Bree. I tried finding her on yelp and wasn't able to locate her. She was amazing and very sweet and funny also and did a FABULOUS job. This review is particularly on Chiqui Martinez. Due to the xmas holidays, I knew all hair salons were going to be super-busy. I tried JCP's at the last minute and they were able to squeeze me in and that was a BIG plus! They assigned Chiqui over to me and my first impression was, "Damn, I have a male stylist (and he's older {no offense Chiqui}?! WTF!" Only because I've had a really bad experience with an older male hairstylist from a different JCPs in the past. I'm trying to grow out my pixie down to a shoulder-length bob. Chiqui kept telling me that he's going to cut my hair shorter in order for it to grow out better. In my mind, I was thinking, OMG, he's going to botch my hair and cut it shorter than I'd like! He also tried explaining to me that the last person who did my hair was very sloppy and did a poor cut. I started to get offended because most of the times, strangers love my hair style. I was so close to just leaving. However, he reminded me that I was the one who knew how to style my hair well the way I wanted folks to see it but it was my last hairstylist who did a mediocre job. After 15 minutes of trying to calm me down and talking me into trusting him, I gave in. He guided me every little step of the way and did not cut too short at all. Most hairstylist do not like cutting with their customer's glasses on the way, but he was fine with me wearing them because he wanted me to observe his job. He cleaned and evened out my layers and talked me through every cut. In a lot of ways, I liked his technique because it was kind of old school BUT CLEAN, the way my mother used to cut my hair when I was young. Towards the end, he made me feel really comfortable with my new cut and ensured me that my pixie will grow cleanly into the bob that I'm hoping for...with a few routine trims, of course. If you need the perfect haircut fit to you, ask for Toni. I like my hair wash-and-wear (no gels or electric tools), but my head is flat on top and I look like a cube.
