Patty in Customer Service is such a cheerful associate. I have checked my items out with her the last 3-4X I have shopped the store. Patty is always extremely helpful and has a polite and happy disposition. It is rare, especially in retail, for an associate to consistently be pleasant. I would rather wait in line to be helped in Customer Service than any other check out location in the store. I tried to do the JCP survey, but was past the 7 day requirement. Thank you. read more

We actually hadn't been planning to visit a mall today, but we stumbled upon the Spotsylvania Mall that houses JCPenney next to the Fredericksburg Costco (which shares an entrance with the mall). A competitor's "shoes" sign caught my eye as I needed to replace a pair of comfy shoes that had disintegrated earlier in the day. No luck. We then found JCPenney in the mall. Jackpot! JCPenney had a great selection of shoes to choose from, was well-stocked in various sizes, AND was already running some Black Friday promotions a week before Thanksgiving. I picked up a pair of comfy Liz Claiborne pewter-colored flats for $24.99, marked down from $60. Extra bonus? They're memory foam. We checked out, and were headed to the door when my husband noticed an old favorite Fisher Price toy ... See and Say, The Farmer Says, which would be a good present for a nephew. So, it was back to the check-out line for us. $19.99. Not on sale. We checked out again, when I noticed some really cute slippers. Wouldn't they be great for Sue, and for Cindy, and for Misty, and for ... on those cold floors on winter nights? and, what a bargain, $4.99 each instead of the marked $10 each! So, it was back to the check-out line for a third, and final, time. A few final notes. The store was well-organized, and staff that we interacted with were pleasant and helpful. There is a good selection for holiday shopping, with many promotions going on. Prices were good. read more

Really it should be negative stars. The store itself is filthy and although small stuff seems to never be folded or organized where it's supposed to be in the kids departments. Also phot studio was the worst experience. I was so desparate to get Santa photos, but honestly I will never be back and I wouldn't suggest you go either. The session was rushed, the photographer clearly can't work with young children and the person who reviews your photos with you acts like he would rather be anywhere else. For all the money they make you spend i certainly would not recommend this place for anything. read more

I always find good clothes at the Big and Tall section of the store, but today the manager went out of his way to help me find a pair of jeans that fit me. I'm an odd fit so there's not a lot to pick from, but he was very knowledgeable about Levi's and that helped me out a lot. I'm very grateful for the service I get there. Highly recommended. read more

Just assume it won't be open when you are here. Posted hours and mall hours are just for show. Everyday, this location will open 30 to 90 minutes late. They don't care about their customers or corporate in the slightest. Shop somewhere else. read more

I have got to say that the JCPenney's in Spotsylvania mall has some of the rudest people ever. I was told by a cashier when my service dog had an accident that you need to get that dog out of my store. And when management called the next day and didn't like how I was speaking about his employee he started yelling at me and telling me that he was not going to tolerate the way I was speaking and that this was the end of the conversation and he hung up the phone. So JC Penney's is going the way of everybody else out of business for poor service. read more

This location is much more organized than many others. My parents love shopping the clearance here so we have been to four locations recently. This one so far was the best. My dad found 2 Nike shoes for $15.99 and $20.99. Missing one star because this store are separated two parts, one with kids and female stuff; the other with males and furniture stuff. read more

I can always find what I'm looking for at a good price. I recently bought a BRAND NEW pair of jeans for only $4.97 on sale! And they were levis! I also bought a pair of Worthington dress slacks for $8 dollars. It's a typical retail store, but it's not too bad as far as prices go and "business" attire goes. I prefer them to many other stores like Kohls, because their dress pants are a bit nicer and you can find great deals if you're willing to spend a bit of time looking... You can't beat brand new clothing at those prices. It's cheaper than thrift stores, even! ...but new! The staff is also helpful and pleasant, and they'll give good direction for what looks nice/best if you ask... I never get that sort of service and opinion from a place like Kohls. 4 stars because the decor REALLY needs an update. Also, their dressing rooms smell TERRIBLE sometimes but the staff says they can't do anything about it because the company/higher ups won't let them change the flooring. To their credit, they do always mention that the dressing rooms have been carpet cleaned... Just... not pleasant for their store or staff to deal with, let alone customers like myself. read more

We were ignored at the photo center. She sharply suggested making an appointment for another day, even though we came in 20 minutes before close and only wanted one picture. There was one group in front of us, and she said we would be behind them... She took her time with a couple with what felt like an insistent urge on ignoring us, biding time hoping we would leave. We did, and hesitantly came back because we desperately needed them. My husband explained that this was the only time we could do the pictures and that we waited in traffic longer than expected to make it just in time. She finally allowed us to take the photos, and did so quite fast and wonderfully. We actually ended up leaving before the other couple who was there well before us. Overall, it was well worth the sheer determination to get the photos done! read more

This JCP needs an update, but all the employees are fantastic. They are super nice and are always willing to help me. I cannot say the say with the more "modern" JCP's. "Never judge a book by its cover!" The salon is what I want to talk about, my stylist is fantastic and I am so happy that she is back!
