We haven't been in a Penny's for a minute... We decided to pop in. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member immediately. We wandered over to the kids clothing to look at their sale items. WOW!! We found some great name brand items for our grandson. We even found a button up 'Mine Craft' shirt he is going to go nuts about. We then looked at the bedding. (Great items, phenomenal prices) Then over to the decorations for fall, Halloween, and Christmas. All were beautiful and well priced. We ended up with two armfuls of goodies. For less than $100!!! When we were standing in line to check out, someone came and opened a register. We will be back. Frequently. I had just forgotten what great stuff and great prices Penny's has. read more

My wife has a term insurance policy thru JC Penney. Recently they mailed her stating they were going to charge for monthly paper statements. I tried to find on their website how to go paperless but can't find anything anywhere. A call to their customer service number was equally frustrating and zero help. I've emailed the site "contact" address and have yet to hear back. My next step is contacting the insurance underwriter directly and bypass JC Penney altogether. Came in to buy some things and one man at the register, couldn't catch his name, kept bad-mouthing my mother. He had like, twisted locs (?) and just continually kept treating my mother like she didn't understand anything and was overall super rude- it was really disrespectful and unappreciated. I don't mean to sound rude but it was a really unpleasant experience and he was just acting very aloof and unfriendly. All the other staff (albeit only two others) were very kind and understanding, it was just that one man that decided to not treat me or my mom well. Not only that, but he DOUBLE CHARGED her!! Honestly forgot that JcPenny's are still open. Went to this location in the Southwest Plaza mall and was pleasantly surprised with their inventory. They devoted a pretty large section to clearance. Most clothes were marked down 60, 70, or 90% off! My only complaint is that the clearance section is very dis-organized and does not seem to be a priority for staff. The staff that work here are not very pleasant to deal with. The woman who checked us out was rude and not very helpful. She actually admitted to hating clearance items because from time to time it made it more difficult to find items prices. read more

I never thought I'd be reviewing a department store but I felt this necessary to save someone the trip. JCPenney was the place to shop when I was younger! Mom would get her shiny gold card out and allow me to browse the clearance racks, maybe even finding something trendy off a mannequin too. This was not the JCPenney my Mother took me to yesterday when she took me and my teenage daughter. The store was a wreck, the employees were nowhere to be found, and the selection was awful. The part that upset me the most was the counter to pay. First of all there was a woman at one counter typing away on a computer, a woman to the other side of her trying to checkout and she just ignored her and kept typing away, no communication indicating that her register was just not open. We walked to another part of the store to two woman behind the counter. The second woman left the counter to assist the other with a price check, understandable. While the other employee was off "assisting," another woman joined us in line, all being patient. Upon the employees return she brought the item up to check, grabbed a few things from the registers, and proceeded to cut in front of the woman behind us and inform her that she was actually behind us in line but had to help out the other employee. I was beyond myself and it was difficult to not say something! Customers come first, always, and if you are off the clock, remain off the clock, and how dare you cut in front of a customer of your own store! Shame on you! We will not be returning to this location, not even to walk through to the mall. read more

I have a soft spot for Penney's. I can usually find the kinds of clothing items I like, in my weird size, but that's on the website. I never try to shop for clothes here for myself or my kid because it's such a disorganized overcrowded environment. I went to this location a few days ago to look at bedding up on the top floor. I found a few items I liked but not in the right size, so I did a few laps looking for a clerk to help. Not a single employee on the entire top floor except for one cashier. She paged someone to come help me in bedding but no one ever showed up. I left and went to Macy's. Numerous employees on the floor and I had a very helpful one assist me (although they also didn't have what I needed). So I went to Dillard's. Again, numerous employees were in the area I was shopping, and one even approached me and asked how she could help. I almost started crying it was so nice to actually be helped. Sadly they also didn't have what I was looking for, but she helped me look up online for the info I needed (basically I was looking at all 3 places for California King sized bedding and, failing to find that, the Dillard's sales girl helped me figure out if I could get away with standard King sized bedding). I get that JCP is really struggling these days, which is why I went there first, to try to spend some money there to help out. But if they think having zero staff available to help customers is the way forward, I don't have much hope they'll still be around a year from now. Sad. read more

I am absolutely LIVID with the Optical office in this store. My boyfriend has really bad eyesight, and when his glasses broke 3 weeks ago, he was in desperate need of a new pair. I called this place and they told me that they were completely booked for 3 weeks. So I scheduled an appointment with them for this Sunday (which is three weeks after I called them). My boyfriend suffered for 3 weeks without glasses and he was REALLY looking forward to Sunday. I called today to confirm the appointment, and the lady was all, "Oh, hi, uhm, the doctor decided that he didn't want to come in until Tuesday, so can we reschedule?" What? Really?! I was pissed because, one, they never contacted us about the change of plans (The lady did tell me that she emailed us but we never got anything; we live over an hour away, so if I didn't call today we would've wasted at least 3 hours driving back and forth for nothing!) and two, the doctor obviously has no respect for my boyfriend's time, and three, my boyfriend took the day off work for the appointment and now it's all for nothing. Because of this establishment's inconsiderate last-minute appointment change, my boyfriend now has to spend another week or maybe even 3 more weeks suffering without glasses. He gets a migraine every day, and he's not able to do a lot of things because of his limited eyesight. See why I'm pissed? Don't come here. They don't care about your time, schedule, or needs. If you ever decide to schedule an appointment with them, don't be surprised if they end up not honoring it whatsoever. read more

I've always had a pleasant experience here. They had construction going on yesterday, so the escalators weren't available. I felt lost when I saw all of the construction stuff, but appreciated the promptness of the employee that helped me figure out where I needed to go. I've been here several times and it is always clean, well stocked, with courteous employees and good prices. I always recommend it to people when they need to find cute, but affordable clothing. read more

I came in today to return a necklace that wasn't mine and it was given to me after I left my necklace for it to be supposedly cleaned and polished. I explained to them the situation they brought 3 people down to look at the situation after moments later the lady tells me that it doesn't add up. I asked well what are you trying to say. She claims that she has been working there for 14 years and there has never been a mistake. Tries to BLAME ME that I brought in the wrong necklace that I might off gotten confused. Then states that her department wouldn't off given me that necklace because it would've came back "beautiful" and that the one I brought in was "dirty" I wore it about 2-3 times before I took it in. The reason why I didn't go in before was because I thought it was just in my head that it looked different but after I compared the pictures and looked closely to the pattern I knew that it wasn't my necklace. Moving forward, they say that nothing can be done because I signed the receipt. Why couldn't they start from there? Why did she had to blame it on me? After all that, she tells me that if I want to leave the necklace. Like what? Why? if there's nothing that can be done. You want to fuck me over twice and leave me with no necklace? Oh and to add on she finally says "you'll love this necklace". Um excuse me? I don't care about this necklace I want MY necklace . If I knew it was going to be like this I would've just cleaned it myself. read more

They should seriously consider a counter just for returns. I was here on December 27 in the morning. Found the couple items I needed in chaos that was the store. Walked up to the check out counter, one employee finishing with a customer and one employee dealing with a customer and her pile of returns (multiple bags of stuff to return and handful of receipts that needed to be matched to them). So the one employee completes the simple return and leaves the counter leaving me to watch the cluster at the one register all the while the employee complaining about other employees calling in sick. About 20 minutes later the whiny clerk called another employee to actually get the now 5 people in line moving. The 2 stars are because they had what I really needed. I probably would have purchased a few more items had I been able to find them. I understand it's a few days after Christmas but nothing in the store was in order and employees should never whine to customers. read more

Out of the main departments stores (Macy, JCPenney, Nordstorm, Dillards, etc.), I find JCPenney to be one of the tackiest stores I´ve ever had the displeasure of going to. The selection is raunchy and seems like an old people store. I often find the workers are unhelpful or unqualified. It is honestly just not a good store. Would not recommend. purchased an item from JC Penney web page had it delivered to the store to save on shipping. We received notification that it was in. We went to pick it up and the store manager, (Candie) said,. "We never received it and have No idea where it is.). I then asked for a refund, had my receipt and everything needed and Candie replied, " I can't refund your money because we don't physically have your order.). How ridiculous is this. I have boycotted JCPennys since the 1980's. Only now, thru yelp and the Internet can I express my discontent with the JCPennys credit department and the JCPennys company customer service policies. My refusal to spend even a penny of my money at any JCPenny store for the last 26+ yrs stems from a JCP card payment that was only one day late. I came into the store to make my payment and the store terminated my acct. I had been a loyal customer for years and made my payments on time. They dumped me like a hot potato after a one day late payment. I told the store clerk then, if this is how you treat your customers then I will never be one again. I will never spend another dime in your stores ever. To this day, I have not. When I was a young single mother I needed office clothes. I had very little money and used the CC to help me get what I needed to work. Now my income is 7 times what it was then and I can afford anything I want. JCP will never get any of it.
