I needed a random household item that I'd usually purchase at Target, but being I've had to it boycott Target for over a year now, JCPenney got my business this time around. I never shop here, but I was happy it was near home, and that I found what I needed in a matter of 10 minutes. Was at Rosedale JCPennys over the weekend and purchased my fiancé a shirt and matching pants, the cashier rang up the pants twice and did not ring up the shirt got home and saw this and paid an extra $38.00. Called the store to see if anything could be done over the phone to save me a trip back in, even though I used my Pennys credit card, gave rewards # you name it but no, I need to go back to store and inconvenience me even more and it was not my fault, they could care less, I ended up returning both pieces as I am feeling I don't want to give them business right now. Looking for sales on furniture I thought I found a great price on an Ashley loveseat at JC PENNY for under $300! I was happy and used my credit card to purchase it right away. I was shocked to learn that from time of purchase to an appointment for delivery was over a week!As I waited for my delivery scheduled for the afternoon at 3:00 PM, a week later, the truck came at 1:30 PM! So after some chatting online about excuses I accepted another appointment for delivery. I was told I didn't pick up the phone when they called and my delivery would not happen this time either! I wasn't going to deal with liars and lazy people not to mention people not answering their phones and chats online to avoid talking to me as a customer. I think JC PENNY should just throw in the towel! I'm going to let EVERYONE I meet know about this ridiculous experience and I will never shop them again for the mere fact that they can't even deliver a loveseat to my apartment! read more

Wanted a shirt that the sign said was on sale for $89.99, they rung it up for $140.00, I showed the cashier the sign who said the shirts were for this rack and pointed to another, literally pointed to the shirt on the rack with the sign. He asked the manager who said nope, $140. Got home, ordered it online for $89.99!!!!! Clearly no reason to ever go back to the Roseville store with such incompetence as this. read more

We we're getting pictures taken when we decided to see if we could get my three year old a haircut (it had been awhile) he's deathly afraid of the clippers, so the stylist was super patient with him and did an amazing job on his hair, taking the time to cut it with a scissors and gave him a coloring book with crayons to distract him. Great service and we found our new salon for him! read more

Haven't shopped at a JCP in years, nor have I been to the mall in years, but desperate times call for whatever measure that can deliver fast. After waiting last minute to find a quick last minute buy dress to wear to a wedding, I ducked in here. Pretty decent selection with some super cheap prices. I found a surpisingly cute dress clearanced down to $9.00 along with some jewelry clearanced to $4.00. Apparently the buyers have revamped and updated some of their looks, because there are some actually cute clothes for cheap. Seems like something is always on sale..and for a reasonable price. Decent selection of business casual work pants and they carry the short length option which I so desperately need. Sales associates are always friendly and I received a 15% coupon for filling out the customer survey. An overlooked store on my part that I might have to reconsider frequenting more often for the deals. read more

My review is not for this store. I made an order on line which was shipped to this store. I am in North Carolina. Half of my order was canceled because of inventory. The other item was sent to Minnesota in error. As I mentioned I am in North Carolina. I have been on the phone 2 hours attempting to cancel the order. I was told I would have to call the store myself, the phone reps could not cancel an on line order. I call the store which was closed and call back to speak with a supervisor to cancel the order. I'm pretty upset about the cashier who rung me up tonight. Her name started with an So??? She was an elderly lady who refused to try my coupon for me bc she memorized all the deals in the store. She scanned her coupons really quick and was like, "see, none of them work!" She rang me up and when I saw no one was I line, I came back into have her check my coupon. She then proceeded to yell at me, my husband, and my one year old in front of Maggie? and Liz saying not verbatim, "the nfl and Disney sell us things at a really CHEAP price so none of the coupons work." She said nfl gear never gets applied to store coupons. I showed the other girl the coupon I was talking about and showed her it didn't include nfl merchandise but the old lady still refused to try my coupon. She insisted I talked to a manager and I didn't even want to talk to a manager, I just wanted her to acknowledge my coupon. She yells at Liz to confirm about the coupon. I have never been so degraded Bc of a coupon. It was ten pm and it was a completely empty store, open till midnight. I was completely mortified of this lady yelling at me and I just left. I'm sure they had nothing to do but be racist and condescending. Before me, they refused to help some ladies and made them get in line just to ask where the bathroom is. I wanted to return my Vikings gear and spend my money somewhere else but with my baby yelling her head off at this lady yelling at us, we just left completely taken advantage of. There have been better days at the Penny. They dropped some of the best men's brands in favor of cheaper made lesser known brands, but still sell at a premium price. They do have sales which significantly mark down clothes. Penny's still has a good variety of home goods and bedding. This location seems to have far less employees as they have to multi-task. Inventory, stacking clothes and then run to the check out station when that is backed up. There are returned clothes all over the counters and floor. The changing room had hangers on the floor and hooks and some other items on the floor I'd rather not guess. Evidently they've cut down on the cleaning crew or expect the floor crew to do that in between their other chores. There was one lone woman at the check out station trying to figure out what the customers were saying about an alleged discount. She struggled with the terminal then called in another more senior employee for help which took another five minutes. Finally the other employee had to leave her duties behind and open another terminal, so just wait for the warm up, log in, codes, POS link to go positive, ok ready.. thank you for shopping Jc Penny's, please fill out the survey on web site listed on the receipt. read more

This JCPenney's is doing better than it was before. I recall recently seeing entirely empty sections of the store with no explanation, so I could never tell if there were renovations, expansions, or simply rotation inventory. They have repurposed the space and are truly making a comeback. Sections are much more organized and have clearly labeling, which makes it easier to locate what one needs while also allowing opportunities to browse! read more

Visited this store on Sunday to shop for shoes for my family. I could not believe the absolute chaotic mess that we saw in the shoe department. It looked like a tornado had gone through it - boxes cluttering the aisles so you couldn't walk, shoes scattered everywhere and shelves were totally disorganized. I couldn't even stand to shop so I left and went to a competitor and spent my money there. There were no employees to be seen. read more

I made an online order, made sure I got free shipping then a minute after making the purchase realized that because they were out of stock I was 2$ under. I tried calling customer service immediately, my phone call was high jacked by some spam deal asking first about being 50 and older then about 20 other things and NEVER getting through. I called back 6 more times not giving up until I was going to be late for an engagement. I called on my way about an hour and a half later and was told it was to late to do anything about it and that if it happened again they could investigate. I suggested strongly that they "investigate" now! Totally unacceptable business practice to give you (the site said 30 the rep said 20) minutes to change or cancel an order and then have no way to do so! There's no email address given, no other way besides the number that didn't work. I was given a 10 dollar voucher by the man I could hardly understand, but 50 would have been a better choice. The experience was more than a little annoying and I was late for my event. read more

I purchased a adjustable base and mattress from them and was confirmed via email and phone that both pieces were shipping from the same warehouse and there would be no issues . I had family come to my home to accept the delivery as I had to work and they had to wait for it. Upon arrival only the base was there and no mattress I got bounced back and fourth all day between the delivery company and penny's neither who took the blame . They said it takes 24-48 hours to investigate and then call to re schedule delivery. Made it clear I had no bed to sleep on and a bad back . Their reply was sorry for the inconvenience. They had no back ups to get another bed there etc and no huge discounts for letting customers sleep on the floor after buying a expensive bed . Parts of the store were an absolute MESS. I was shopping in the women's(plus) dept. specifically. I could not find anything, all the racks were a mess and clothing was all over the floor. It was obvious that they were rearranging (I think??) but this was excessively messy. I found something in the clearance section which clearly said 60-70% off lowest ticketed price. I took that mean it was 60% off the clearance price because I had just shopped at the Penney's in Maplewood and that was exactly what I experienced there. I was at the register and it rang up the regular clearance price. I inquired about it and said it had the red sticker and the sign on the rack indicated it would be further discounted. The cashier said simply...."no". No looking into it for me. Just, no. Oh ok. Forget it then. I said no thanks and walked out with nothing. After seeing what a mess that store was and the terrible service I won't be back. I got better deals on a similar item at Nordstrom Rack. read more

This review is for the hair salon only. I've tried getting a simple haircut (trim straight across, 1 inch angle in the front) here 3 times, with 3 different stylists. Each time without fail, they completely ignore what I ask for, do an uneven job, and it takes me months to grow it out to something presentable. Each time they have cut off twice what I asked for, despite asking me several times and me showing them several times. I almost always have to re-trim myself when I get home because it is uneven. And this last time my 1-inch angle apparently turned into a 7-inch feathered look, which looks ridiculous with my fine hair. For this service, I was charged $27 despite me coming in with my hair wet, and leaving with it wet. No products were used at ALL. Total ripoff, especially when you factor in that I'll probably have to pay another hairdresser to re-cut the entire front, since there is no way I'm letting them touch it again. read more

Roseville Salon: I was not surprised to heard that my long time stylist Claudia had retired, I was happy for hear, and it wasn't even a huge deal that I wasn't informed. However, I found it extremely told to just be told that she retired and was not offered another stylist to schedule with, not a smart business move in my opinion. After going to them for a solid 4 years about every 3 months to just basically be brushed off was highly rude, and the lady did not seem to care. I am done with JC Penney stores. Hosiery selection is poor. Up until ~5-10 years ago selection was fantastic, especially their own brand. Having stopped in for last-minute purchase for nylons on three occasions in last two years, I have been disappointed. 1) Few sales persons available for assistance but the last Sunday afternoon I was there the gal was very good. 2) You have to know to pull out the drawers to find a few more nylon choices but it still isn't the number of styles and brands they carried. 3) Half (truly, half) the single item pantyhose packages were upside down in the racks. PRESENTATION! Where's the employee training?! If staff who stock shelves can't get packages out of a box and placed into the correct row by style and size with up side being up, why should I go there anymore? I asked if the items were for sale or if there was a reason they are not for sale based on them being upside down. No, I was told, they are all for sale. I don't need to work that hard to find what I am looking for by turning over packages to find style, brand, color, etc. 5) I was given a 20% off coupon from a different department to use in the store. I didn't use it- disclaimers/restrictions in fine print didn't make it applicable to the items I wanted to purchase. Instead I was offered 10% off one item (the cheaper of the things I brought to the counter). I had four items: a $23 hat, $8 hosiery, $16 earrings, $23 girdle. None qualified as 'clothing,' so the 25% off coupon didn't qualify. I bought hosiery only, left the rest behind. They would have made more money off me that day had I been allowed to use the coupon with the items I chose. read more

I usually shop at Maplewood Mall JCPenney and after this evening's experience, I'll shop there exclusively from now on. I understand that when the mall closes at 9:00, the salespeople are anxious to leave, but when the door from the mall to the store is still open and it's 10 degrees outside, I'm more that tempted to exit the mall through the entrance where I parked - in this case, JCPenney. I was NOT pleased at being told more than once by the salesperson to HURRY and USE THE ELEVATOR!! as my daughter and I were (obviously) rushing to leave. Customer service is clearly dead after 9:00pm. Be aware. read more
